  1. Nearly 10 years since joining the cast of “The Bold and the Beautiful” in the contract role of Quinn Fuller, later Sharpe and currently Forrester, actress Rena Sofer will conclude her run at the Television City-produced daytime drama series when her final episode airs Monday, August 29. “Friday, August 5 was not just my daughter’s birthday but the end of my 9year run as Quinn on @boldandbeautifulcbs,” wrote Sofer on Instagram, announcing her exit from the series. “I know it’s heartbreaking for some and it is for me as well, but it’s time for me to move on with both my acting career and my pottery career. Thank you all for your support over the last 9 years and in the future! And check out Renasoferceramics.com for the other side of my life!!” In an upcoming interview with Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands Friday, Sofer shares more about her decision to leave the series. “I had already decided this was going to be my last contract, but when they finished the story of Quinn and Carter [Lawrence Saint-Victor] coming together, it seemed like the right time,” she explains to the magazine. “On to bigger and better things!” Sofer concluded in a Twitter post following her shocking exit announcement. 3. Months after it was reported that former “General Hospital” and “Chicago Justice” actress Lindsey Pearlman had left behind two suicide notes before her body was found in a car parked near Runyon Canyon Park in Los Angeles on February 18, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office has officially listed the manner and cause of her death, therefore closing the case which up until recently had been deferred pending additional investigation. The 43-year-old died by suicide the coroner’s office indicated with the cause of death noted as “sodium nitrite toxicity.” According to the LAPD, at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 18, officers responded to a radio call for a death investigation at Franklin Avenue and North Sierra Bonita Avenue. The body was later confirmed to be that of Pearlman whose full name was Lindsey Erin Pearlman. TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, reported days later that Pearlman had called her husband, Vance Smith, the day before her body was found telling him her intention to end her life. “Her husband contacted police in a frantic effort to find Lindsey. He never saw her alive again,” the website stated. Appearing on “General Hospital” over two episodes aired in January 2020, Pearlman portrayed the role of barista Margaret “Maggie” McMorris. She shared scenes with series stars Maurice Benard, Steve Burton and Max Gail when their characters traveled to Brooklyn, NY so that Sonny (Benard) could get Mike (Gail) to take part in a clinical trial to help treat his Alzheimer’s disease. In a clip (shown below), Pearlman’s Maggie was used as a human shield at the Brooklyn Union Pub where she worked when Jason (Burton) shot a hitman to save her life. In addition to her recurring role on “General Hospital,” Pearlman’s other television credits included such shows as “Selena: The Series,” “American Housewife,” “The Purge,” “Chicago Justice” and “Empire,” among others. She also appeared as the lead in such films as “Signal to Noise” and “Pry Me Open.” In theatre, she appeared in numerous productions, including “Trevor,” “The Eight: Reindeer Monologues,” and “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.” Note: The post ‘General Hospital’ Actress Lindsey Pearlman — Cause of Death Confirmed by L.A. 4. A prolific career in daytime television, writing for such soaps as “Capitol,” “As The World Turns” and “One Life to Live,” former “Beverly Hills, 90210” writer/producer Jessica Klein has died. She was just 66 years of age. Klein passed away on July 13, 2022 at 8:21 a.m. with her family by her side at her home in Beverly Hills, CA, her daughter, Shira Rose, revealed in a Facebook post. “It was peaceful. We were together,” Rose said. Klein was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of last year. Best known for her work on the primetime soap “Beverly Hills, 90210” as a writer and producer over six seasons on the series, Klein was married to the late Steve Wasserman who died in 1998 after falling overboard during a sailing trip. He was 45 years old at the time. While not always working side by side at the same time, the two did find themselves overlapping with writing credits on “Capitol” and “As The World Turns,” and primetime shows such as “Northern Exposure,” “Mancuso, F.B.I” and “Gabriel’s Fire,” along with their work on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Klein would go on to marry Isaac Levenbrown in 2000, a painter and audiovisual expert. In 2011, the couple relocated to Virginia where Klein began teaching screenwriting courses at Drexel University. Following his death in 2014, Klein relocated to Toronto and returned to Los Angeles in 2018. Klein joined the online reboot of “One Life to Live” in 2013 as a writer with credits for all 39 produced episodes. She later worked as a supervising producer on the show “The Other Kingdom” and a consulting producer on the Nickelodeon series “Make It Pop.” In addition to her daughter, Klein is survived by her stepchildren, Josh, Brittany and Jonathan; her grandchildren, Shayna, Mendel, Zisi, Asher, Lily and Elliott; and her brother, David. 6. Let’s not forget that all cameras used on DAYS are Sony cameras so new cameras doesn’t mean much. Without hearing the full interview (at last check, the link was dead), we don’t know when new cameras were ordered, who ordered them or how long they’d been in use.
  7. “Days of our Lives” has cast actress/model and social media influencer Jessica Serfaty as Sloan, Leo’s lawyer who he hopes will help clear his name in the murder of Abigail Deveraux now that he’s suspect numero uno. Photo by Evans Vestal Ward/Peacock In an interview published in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now, Leo’s portrayer, Greg Rikaart, explains that his character is scared after Chad (Billy Flynn) and Jada (Elia Cantu) find evidence that he had been hiding in the DiMera secret room, leading them to believe he was the one responsible for Abigail’s death. “He thinks that things look bad for him because there is, in fact, evidence against him,” says Rikaart. “It’s not evidence that he committed murder, but it’s certainly circumstantial evidence that puts him at the scene of the crime.” While in police custody where he’s being questioned by Shawn (Brandon Beemer), Leo declares his innocence which leads to the introduction of Sloan. “She’s regarded as being a hotshot lawyer, and Leo believes in her. He feels like she’s his ticket out of this mess,” says Rikaart of the new face in Salem. Beyond her interactions with Leo, look for Sloan to arrive in Salem on Thursday, August 18 and to share scenes with Gwen (Emily O Brien), Melinda (Tina Huang), Rafe (Galen Gering), Sonny (Zach Tinker) and even Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), the latter of which will be on an intimate level. Sloan Serfaty, who also goes by Jessica Michel on social media, made a name for herself in 2010 as a contestant on “America’s Next Top Model.” In recent years she’s had starring roles in such shows as “The Professionals” and “The Hack Job.” In recent Instagram Stories postings, Serfaty has been sharing clips of her and her friends, including actress Bella Thorne, while on vacation in Ibiza, Spain. She has over 1.1 million followers on the social media platform. 8. Personally, I feel the title for the poll is incorrect. You're not paying $4.99 to watch Days on Peacock. That's the price for Peacock itself. It should have been "Will you pay a monthly subscription for Peacock?"? Similarly, I think polls should be created for the other streamers as well just to see if people are willing to pay for any of them. Currently, I pay for Netflix + DVD (it's a legacy account), Prime Video (via annual Prime plan), Hulu+Live TV, Paramount+ (student discount rate), Disney+ and HBO Max (free via legacy AT&T wireless service). I have a free Peacock account which I've been unwilling to upgrade. Yes, it's five bucks but until now I've yet to be given a reason to subscribe.
  9. “Grey’s Anatomy” alums Sarah Drew and Justin Breuning (“All My Childen”) are set to reunite in Lifetime’s “Reindeer Games Homecoming,” part of the network’s upcoming “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” holiday lineup it was announced today during Lifetime’s TCA session. Drew will pull triple duty as the star, executive producer, and writer of the movie which follows MacKenzie Graves (Drew), a brilliant, competitive, crossword puzzle-loving Biology teacher in Vermont who recently lost her father, beloved fire chief and the heart of the town’s holiday fundraising tradition “The Reindeer Games.” Every year since his death, she competes with her dad’s former team, a group of colorful retired firefighters, to win the Games and keep his tradition alive. This holiday, however, her world is rocked when fading Hollywood star, and Mac’s high school crush, Chase Weston (Bruening), comes home for Christmas to visit his pregnant sister and nephew and is begrudgingly roped into participating in the Games. When the opportunity to compete against her former mega crush arises, Mac is determined to show him up and win the Kris Kringle Cup at all costs. As the competition heats up, so does the spark between Mac and Chase, and Chase soon finds himself eager to not only win the games, but also win her heart as well. Brian Sills also stars. “Reindeer Games Homecoming” is produced by Johnson Production Group for Off Camera Entertainment. Stephanie Slack, Margret Huddleston, Sarah Drew, and Tim Johnson serve as executive producers. The film is directed by Brian Herzlinger with a script written by Drew. The full “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” slate and airdates will be announced this fall. 10. It's my understanding that the reason behind the move to the Television Academy is with the booming popularity of game shows in primetime the shows airing at night are now eligible for Emmys whereas they previously couldn't get awarded. With the increased competition there, IMO, it'll be less likely that true daytime game shows like "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make a Deal" will ever get the win, if even a nomination.
  11. As part of Lifetime’s upcoming slate of holiday movies, under the “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” umbrella, soaper Justin Gaston (“Days of our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless”) will star alongside Rita Moreno and Marissa Jaret Winokur in “Santa Bootcamp” which is being directed by Melissa Joan Hart who the network has dubbed their “Queen of Christmas” following her previous efforts behind the camera with the Lifetime films “The Santa Con,” “Feliz NaviDAD,” and “The Watcher.” Announced during Lifetime’s TCA session, the movie follows an event planner, Emily Strauss (Emily Kinney), who is hired by mall magnate, Ed Mancini (Patrick Cassidy), to stage the ultimate Christmas Gala for his most influential investors. To make that happen, Emily finds herself being sent to bootcamp – Santa Bootcamp – to find the perfect Santa and inspiration she will need to make the evening a success. While there, Emily meets Belle (Moreno), the bootcamp’s drill sergeant with a heart of gold, who helps Emily rediscover the magic of Christmas and find romance along the way. In a statement, EGOT winner Moreno said, “I have always been a holiday person… particularly Christmas. The idea that I’m actually going to participate in this wonderful Lifetime Christmas movie, ‘Santa Bootcamp,’ just tickles me to no end.” She added, “I have been known, at Christmas time, to decorate anyone in my house who happens to stand still for more than a minute. I will decorate anyone and anything because I turn into a child. Therefore, what a treat for me! Thank you Lifetime. My grandchildren are already celebrating!” To help showcase the network’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity, the film also includes deaf actors Deanne Bray and Zyra Singleton as part of the cast. John Schuck also stars. In addition to directing, Hart serves as executive producer along with Irene Dreayer, Gina Rugolo Judd, and Paula Hart. The film is produced by Hartbreak Films Inc with a script written by Michael J. Murray. The full “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” slate and airdates will be announced this fall. 12. Depends on the wording of the contract. I'm sure with Peacock being part of DAYS' contract, it was worded that they could move it but no one thought they actually would.
  13. As part of their agreement on realigning Emmy Awards by Genre and not by daypart, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy announced today that Game Show categories will no longer be awarded during the annual Daytime Emmy Awards telecast which is overseen by NATAS and will instead be presented by the Television Academy beginning in 2023. The eligibility period for nominations has been extended to help with the migration to the Television Academy Emmys with an 18-month window, January 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023. According to the new rules, a program with game elements must primarily take place in-studio and involve mental challenges to be eligible for Outstanding Game Show. They must be self-contained or carry-over (winner continues to next episode) and cannot be arced. As for Outstanding Host for a Game Show, the award will be presented to the “master of ceremony” host(s) for a continuing performance in a Game Show. To avoid confusion between Outstanding Game Show and Outstanding Competition Program (which awards programs with reality-style, skill-based competitions), the category for the latter will be revised to Outstanding Reality Competition Program. To recap, the new categories under the Television Academy are as follows: Outstanding Game ShowOutstanding Host for a Game ShowOutstanding Reality Competition Program Game shows and reality competition programs with solely children as contestants must enter in the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.During “The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” presentation in June, Steve Harvey won for Outstanding Game Show Host for hosting “Family Feud.” Meanwhile, “Jeopardy!” won for Outstanding Game Show. 16. Last week, ABC’s “The View” officially announced frequent guest co-host Ana Navarro and communication strategist Alyssa Farah Griffin as the show’s newest co-hosts, joining moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines on the panel for Season 26. Navarro will now appear on the show at least two days a week, filling in for Behar and Goldberg, who are off on those days. Farah Griffin takes over the conservative seat last held by Meghan McCain who vacated the series ahead of the show’s 25th season. ”We promised to take a little time to fill the seat and we have found the right match and a welcome addition to the show with Alyssa,” said the show’s executive producer Brian Teta. “She is willing to share her unique political experience and brings a strong conservative perspective while holding her own in tough debates with her co-hosts and guests on both sides of the aisle.” “Ana has made an indelible impact on ‘The View’ since the first time she joined us at the table,” Teta continued. “She is a strong independent thinker with savvy insight, not to mention that she is whip-smart and fiercely funny. We are very happy to officially welcome her as a co-host.” Appearing 29 times throughout Season 25, Farah Griffin previously served as a spokesperson for the president, vice president and secretary of defense from 2017-2020, making her the only person ever to hold each of those positions. An alumnus of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Farah Griffin was the recipient of the Secretary of Homeland Security’s Award for Distinguished Public Service and serves on the board of the American Conservation Coalition. She will continue in her role as a political commentator for CNN. “I couldn’t be more honored and thrilled to join the ladies of ‘The View,’” said Farah Griffin. “The show paved the way for women speaking up and speaking out on TV. At a time when our country is so divided, often on partisan lines, I’m honored to represent the conservative perspective. I hope to model what is too often lost by our elected leaders: learning from others, disagreeing respectfully, and focusing on finding real solutions for our country.” Joining as a contributor to the show in 2015 during Season 19, Navarro became a guest co-host in November 2018 as part of Season 22. Until Season 26, Navarro had previously appeared on the show on Fridays when Goldberg had the day off. She’ll now also appear on Mondays when Behar has the day off. The Republican political strategist and commentator was the National Hispanic co-chair for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign and has advised numerous federal and state campaigns in Florida and nationally. Despite her increased appearance on “The View,” Navarro will continue as a political commentator for both CNN and Telemundo. Navarro was born in Nicaragua and immigrated to the United States in 1980 when she was just eight years old. Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin (“The View”) Photo by Lou Rocco/ABC “‘The View’ is an institution and incomparable platform for women of different backgrounds to share their opinions and insights,” said Navarro. “It’s been a long courtship, but we’re finally making it official. I love being on the show, and I love living in Miami. I’m happy I will be able to do both. Thank you to ABC News, ‘The View’ family and our loyal viewers for their continued support.” Created by Barbara Walters, “The View” currently ranks as one of daytime television’s most-watched and highest-rated programs, broadcast and syndication alike, often tying or beating the likes of “Dr. Phil,” “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna,” among others. 17. With “The View” wrapping its 25th season last week, the ABC News program reportedly signed co-host Sunny Hostin to a new multi-year deal that would keep her on the daytime talk show through at least the show’s 28th season. Joining “The View” as a co-host in 2016, Variety reports that Hostin’s deal will also include her continuing to appear in special projects for ABC, such as “Soul of a Nation,” and providing commentary on the network’s other flagship news programs like “20/20,” “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.” Hostin joined ABC News as a legal correspondent and analyst in 2016, just a few months before being named a co-host of “The View.” She previously made television appearances on CNN, CourtTV and FOX News, among others. Signing Hostin ensures “The View” will have its ducks in a row during critical news cycles, particularly the 2024 presidential election. Last September, Whoopi Goldberg signed a new multi-year deal, keeping her on the show through Season 28. Joy Behar also signed a new deal in May that will keep her on the show through Season 28. Created by Barbara Walters, “The View” currently ranks as one of daytime television’s most-watched and highest-rated programs, broadcast and syndication alike, often tying or beating the likes of “Dr. Phil,” “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna,” among others. Without saying too much, I will just reiterate that there are other people involved in this situation that weren't before. That doesn't mean the current team isn't involved at all though.
  19. All 14,000 episodes will not be available on Peacock when it moves to the platform exclusively next month. I don't care how WSJ or FOX News wrote their article, that's not what NBC said in their PR and that's not what they are saying behind the scenes right now. According to NBC, "For the first time ever, all new episodes of the 58-time Emmy Award-winning drama will debut on Peacock daily with the show’s robust library already available to stream for Peacock Premium subscribers." They go on to say, "The historic move to Peacock creates the ultimate destination for daytime fans to access the library, new episodes and Peacock Original 'Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem' in one place." This means fans will have access to the library of episodes already on the platform, all new episodes released by Peacock starting September 12, plus the two seasons of "Beyond Salem" as long as they are a premium subscriber to the service. Deals are still being made and discussed behind the scenes, and news will be released very soon to clarify things, but I'm told as of right now nothing is changing right now except the show will no longer be available on NBC or NBC On Demand for those viewers who watched it that way. I'll have more on this later today. Also, regarding 14,000 episodes: It's mentioned in the "About Days of our Lives" section of the PR. Some interns writing for FOX/WSJ decided to misinterpret that to mean that 14,000 episodes of the show are currently available on Peacock. Not the case at all, obviously. ABOUT “DAYS OF OUR LIVES” “Days of Our Lives,” a consistent favorite among fans and critics alike, aired it’s 14,000th episode in 2020 and remains NBC’s longest-running series. The show has garnered 58 Emmy Awards, including most recently 2018’s Outstanding Daytime Drama, and 372 nominations, as well as multiple People’s Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards, and Prism Awards. The show’s success stems from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling – supported by a diverse ensemble of performers – and an uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests. With its mix of classic genre traditions and groundbreaking narratives reflecting modern life, “Days of Our Lives” remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages. “Days of Our Lives” is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ken Corday is executive producer with co-executive producer Albert Alarr. Ron Carlivati is the head writer.
  20. The Talk videos aren't ads. The ads before and after the clips are. Video ads pay well and help cover the upkeep for the site. I just inserted the Talk clips to ensure ads showed up with video. Soon I'll be replacing them with SON original videos.
  21. Hearing more and more about how shocked everyone is about the news, hence the near radio silence. Right now I'm told things will remain status quo but to expect announcements on changes in the next 2-3 weeks as we get closer to the shift. Things are still being worked out behind the scenes despite NBC's shock announcement. Days of our Lives will remain eligible for Daytime Emmys in all categories despite the move to Peacock. As an aside, now I know why Peacock advertises on SON so much even though I myself don't use the service often. Last time I watched anything on it (and not on my computer to be clear) was several months ago when I wanted to see what happened on Manifest.
  22. Expect major announcements in the next 2-3 weeks re: DAYS move. There will be more known on the move very soon.
  23. I don't watch any soap live on TV unless I come across it if I left the TV running in the background. I mostly watch the shows online through streaming websites or apps on TV/phone. Watch at my own pace and decide which episodes.
  24. From my investigation thus far, it looks like a whole new group of people are overseeing this move to Peacock. Cast was blind sided when they found out today.
