Y&R - RIP Tom Ligon (Lucas Prentis)

Lucas seemed to be written as a BFF/talk to for Lorie and Leslie and Bell pretty much wanted to build Lance up as the alpha male Prentiss son. Both sisters fought over him and he was Vanessa's golden child. Vanessa went out of her way to see Lance got what she felt he was entitled to even if Lucas suffered in the process. I would like more footage to surface to see how Vanesa and Lucas interacted as mother and son.
Lucas probably held back with Leslie dialing it back to a 1 or 2 on the scale. She was timid, fragile, and straight laced which is why she was attracted to bland boring Lance. He was like vanilla pudding.
Lorie being the provocative minx should have been written having hard core sexual tension with Lucas that slowly built up for several years with Lorie trying to fight her attraction. Then finally Lucas is taken off his chain with a scene straight out of Body Heat where he breaks through the door unleashing his pent up lust with Lorie. There would be a follow up shower scene where Lucas goes over Lorie head to toe with his wet soapy beard.

Another World Discussion Thread

I believe TPTB should most certainly have cast a dynamic new leading man for Alice when she returned in 1984. Definitely not a carbon copy of Steve Frame, but a successful professional -- perhaps a well known doctor or surgeon, a retired pro-athlete, a very successful attorney, or maybe a hot-shot journalist or businessman with ties to Mac Cory. And this character should have been cast with an uber-popular daytime actor probably stolen from another soap opera. Let's face it -- Ms Courtney could play lots of things, but her version of Alice seemed to shine best in romantic situations. Without putting Alice almost immediately into a big new romance, TPTB more-or-less doomed Ms Courtney's return.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I was stunned (in a good way!) when I decided to watch some old AW clips recently on YouTube and heard Etta James' "Sugar on the Floor," which my mother played all the time on our old stereo, playing over a scene between Jackee Harry (ex-Lily Mason) and John Dewey Carter (ex-Grant Todd).
And then there was the time I heard (live, not years later online) this song I would sing all the time as a child in a scene between either Max and Blair or Cain and Tina (I can't remember which anymore):

I thought since we have a thread dedicated to all the awful writing from Josh Griffith over the years (and the laundry list is long). I figured I would make a thread where we can discuss some of the things we may have liked or appreciated that he did. I am not expecting a lot of positive feedback but I am curious because I do have a FEW things I have enjoyed.
Mark Grossman as Adam Newman - this felt like a good fit for a recast of Adam. The writing still leaves a lot to be desired though because that dark side of Adam is rarely seen these days, but I feel that Mark Grossman is absolutely capable of showing it if someone writes it and brings that side back out. The casting was good though so I will credit him for that.
Bringing back Diane - it’s been great having Susan Walter’s back as Diane and I’m sure most of you would agree. I hope she’s not gonna be on the chopping block with the new writers. The Emmy she won last year was much deserved. (Another character that has lost her edge though, and I hope we see that come back.)
The Sharon and Phyllis friendship - I like this new development with their characters. People evolve in real life and soaps should reflect that as well. I don’t see them being the next Kay and Jill necessarily but some variation of that maybe? It was time for them to move on anyways so we can focus on newer rivalries (which should already have) or begin to be established. Claire vs Audra is not cutting it for me, sorry.
Traci being back on a more consistent basis - no idea if this was JG’s choice or the actress to have a more prominent role on the show so I’m unsure if this is credit to him or not. Either way it’s been nice to have her around more. Now we just need Ashley back as well.

I nearly died when Brooke said Katie was like Stephanie, which is exactly what I said back in May.
Katie's moral superiority v. Brooke's scandals, including $B, will always make this work for years if Brad doesn't quit on us.
Katie forgiving Brooke so quickly always rang false, especially since Katie didn't really forgive $B until a few months ago. Heck, Will hasn't forgiven $B!
KKL finally has a sparring partner worthy of her, you can tell how much she loves these scenes. It only took 14 years for Brad to mine it!
