Frons may not push for ethnic diversity, but he clearly lets his headwriters hire black characters if they want. Look at AMC. The firing of Duplaix smells like pure RC and FV. RC didn't hire or write for black characters after he became headwriter. Brody should have been for Layla, not Jessica. I posted several times that RC must be allergic to black people. I still think that he is. There was an influx of supporting black characters which must be way to much for him to deal with so he is culling the herd. I think that it is all him.
I have to agree, and while I don't think he's the business of firing his black talent, he certainly doesn't see the place for them in Llanview. His stance on OLTL has always referred back to "classic", "core", 80's OLTL. And while I do believe Frons has his hands in alot of pots, I don't think it matters. Collectively over at ABCD the writers, EP, and Frons have had little understanding of this audience or what to do with its actors and characters, and RC is not exempt from this list. He's just as much to blame for the state of the show. Just judging from his writing for Rachel, and her most recent s/l, there's no question in mind that RC believes that the people of color on his show are simply dark skinned white people. If he were really concerned, he would consult with someone more educated on the issue. But he's not the first writer to not care, he won't be the last; but in these times, I think he's afraid of appearing insensitive to the issue. -

I'm really enjoying Campbell Scott this season. I find his acting very interesting and there isn't a role I've seen him in that didn't draw me in. On the other hand, I'm desperate to see Martin Short surprise me this season, as Ted Danson and many others have.
Last episode had to have some of the best family drama I've seen in ages, with the Parson's family dinner and all the events following. I appreciate the writers not going through the plots to try and reintroduce Ellen back to Patty's fold. THey simply defined character driven drama, and following last week I could believe Ellen doing just about anything. -

McQueen's brand will probably be revived in 20 or so years when they find someone talented enough to carry the name. I just think it would be tacky for them to do so now. -

Wasn't there a show exactly like Generation Y- where the characters in present day are trying to figure out who recently murdered a beloved classmate? I'll stick to FX and HBO for my primetime programming. It's obvious these people don't care to add something different and need to see it done before they can call it a success.
