Rick Draughon who just recently left the writing staff of Days of Our Lives was added to the credits of the Young and the Restless today.

The Y&R writing staff keeps changing!

And that just confirms my thesis that The Young and the Restless is becoming Daysish.

Probably some of his friends, like Cwickly eg, recommended him.

Peter Brash, a friend of Cwickly, will surely show up on Y&R as a writer, if he's been canned by Sheffer (as has been reported by Jason47). Brash lives in LA now and will be scooped up by Latham.....which is a good thing. He's an "out" and "proud" gay man and that show could use some good ol' fashion queer camp again. Bell, Sr. was good at it but not great....for those of us who remember Kay's long monologues clutching her gin and rattling the icecubes as she swore to god! Bring back the drama...

Wow, didn't know Brash moved out to La La Land! Wonder why... Guess he's no longer with his other half :(

I really hope Peter isn't gone from DAYS, but I think Peter and Fred Johnson's styles are similar, so maybe Hogie felt it was too much of the same...

I don't think picking up DAYS writer is a bad thing it itself. Look at Paula Cwikly, Hogan picked her up and she won an Emmy while she was on his show. Just because someone is on DAYS doesn't mean they suck.

I just wish [s.W.S.N.B.N.] would become official, I do believe she's a strong writer and I'd love to see what she could do with more power.

But it’s silly to can Trent Jones eg, and hire Rick Draughon.

Where did Peter Brash live before?

  • Member

Oh I agree about Trent Jones. I wasn't paying attention to the writers when he was writing, but I did love him on Ryan's Hope. :P His character committed suicide just a couple weeks ago on the show. He's a great actor, I'm surprised he didn't stick with it.

Anyway, Chris B, I’ll give him a chance. We’ll see what he can do, he might be quite a surprise. I think his hiring broke the record of passing from one soap to another.

Wow, surprised they picked him up. I didnt like his work on ABC at all.

Some great script writers have made truly awful headwriters. Head writing is not suited to all writers. It's much more complicated trying to keep things flowing and make it stay interesting day after day.

I loved his work with Anna Theresa Cascio.

Cascio was the real brains behind that operation at AMC. The show sucked, sucked, sucked until she joined the team and things suddenly took a turn for the better.
