I still love Eric Braeden because he does the funniest ish. There was one scene where she was doing her hammy thing in his face and he just went "whoa!" It was so disarming and hilarious.

I thought the same. She did do a good job.

I have to say that Billy and Cane have been so terribly recast. Unfortunately, I've never warmed to JT as Billy.

Jason Thompson has been Billy for 10 years now. That's the longest run of any of the Billys since the character was SORASed in 1999.

Agree. They had the opportunity with BF and instead saddled him with creepy Cane's backstory, including 3 missing kids.

JT as Billy is hard for me to like.

And on Monday's ep it looked like he was wearing a pyjama top,

The Pilot Thread

NBC aired Alone At Last on June 24 1980 up against Three's Company and the CBS movie.
It was the lead in to a 90 min news special.
So it was a textbook example of burning off a dud show. It didn't even get a slot NBC was using for comedy, like Wed after Diff'rent Strokes or Sat after Sanford.

When Leslie receives word that Lorie's been cleared of the charges against her, she is happy for her sister, but hates the thought of losing Brooks again. Although it pains Leslie deeply, she gives Brooks back to Lorie.
[Now, at this point, Brooks starts banging on the piano and moping around Lorie's penthouse, whining that he misses "Aunt Leslie" and wishes he could live with "Aunt Leslie" fulltime. Lorie makes a big tearful Nadia's Theme decision that Brooks actually belongs with Leslie, and she allows Leslie to come get him and take him home. Presumably, Leslie was living with Stuart & Liz Brooks at the time.]

GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread

I immediately took interest and notice of today's director. Gary was strong, but then halfway through the episode I thought maybe he was trying too hard because there were a lot of closeups of every single storyline and almost every scene. Today's episode was clearly directed differently from most of the last many weeks we've seen. It made things exciting and different, but could be overused if not reeled in. Just an observation...
Controversial for the long term fans probably... but I loved Mac and Felicia way way back in the day, but today showed me how limited, or maybe too out of the game, Felicia (KW) is. If she just found out the possibility of her daughter's husband, her grandson's father, is maybe actually dead now and had a twin brother... I expected way more reaction. I noticed she pronounced Cassius like 'Cass-i-us' in the first scene and then corrected herself in the remaining scenes by saying 'Cash-i-us' like Anna did.
I appreciate they put a shirtless Cody at the pool today, but he's like a pale marshmallow right now. Play to his strengths, let him grow his chest hair out instead of waxing it (assuming that's possible)... I'd take him any day over ripped abs, but something about how JK acts shirtless these days makes me feel like he's self-conscious and it takes me out of the scene.

Brooks is called to the stand. When questioned by Robert Laurence, Brooks testifies about the day Vanessa watched him while Lorie was out of the apartment. Brooks reveals that Vanessa was wearing gloves while typing at Lorie's typewriter using Lorie's blue stationery.

Because it would be a big help to her, Lorie asks Leslie to testify on her behalf. Leslie, who's happier in Switzerland than she's been in a long time, reluctantly agrees to fly back to Genoa City with Brooks.
[Leslie comes back and testifies that Lorie is basically a good person who wouldn't kill the horrible crone Vanessa. Victor takes over Prentiss Industries. Lance takes the stand at Lorie's trial and is forced to read a letter revealing that Lance is the biological father of Brooks. My recollection is that Vanessa typed this letter herself, but faked the letter to appear that it was from Lorie, and BROOKS ends up "cracking the case" by revealing that he once saw Grandma Vanessa typing on Lorie's typewriter while wearing gloves.]
A shaken Lance asks Lucas if it's true about Brooks, and Lucas confesses it is. He reveals the boy was conceived by Leslie and Lance. Lucas says they kept the truth from Lance to protect him. Leslie has known the truth from the beginning. Filled with rage toward Lucas for turning over the letter to Mr. Gordon, Lance punches him.
Lance begs Leslie for a truthful answer. "Brooks is my son, isn't he? Tell me if it's true. Did I father your child?" Leslie tearfully admits that Brooks is Lance's son. When Lance asks why she kept it from him, Leslie says she did it because he was married to Lorie and had found happiness with her. She's only ever wanted him to be happy. "Brooks has given life to the way I feel about you, Lance, the way I've always felt about you."

Soap Opera Digest 3/16/1982:
Hoping to spare Brooks from the media coverage of the trial, Lorie tells Leslie she wants to get her son out of Genoa City. Leslie suggests taking Brooks to the Maestro's chalet in Switzerland. Brooks will be able to move about freely there. Lorie agrees to let Leslie take Brooks to Switzerland on one condition: she must bring him back as soon as the trial is over. Leslie promises she will and assures Lorie she can trust her. After arranging a visit with the Maestro, Leslie whispers to herself, "I'm taking you back to where you were born, Brooks, and I hope we can stay a long, long time."
(I believe THAT is where the recollection of @kalbir comes from, regarding Brooks going to Switzerland. But I'm pretty sure he returned with Leslie a few months later and rejected Lance during that rainstorm at the Lake. I'll keep reading.)

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

Well. I could see the logic. Miami Vice was hot and had challenged Falcon Crest, so the feeling was it could beat Dallas which was another year older. By moving it to 9pm and pairing it with a strong 10pm show, NBC could finally wrestle Fri night away from CBS.
But the Dallas faithful held on and MV provided a reasonable alternative, but not enough to become the dominant show.

I was thinking Lance left town upset, because he'd lost Prentiss Industries, and then Brooks rejected him.
When Lauralee left, she made a BIG DRAMATIC exit out of her penthouse with one little suitcase and "Nadia's Theme" playing in the background, and no sign of Brooks anywhere (which made sense, because he'd moved in with "Aunt Leslie" at some point after the trial.)
They just stopped showing Lucas shortly after Lorie left.
Leslie stayed around several more months for that Robert Laurence/Claire Laurence storyline, and at the conclusion of it, she said, "Dad. Maestro has arranged a European concert tour for me. I'm leaving in five minutes. Bye!" Nadia's Theme started playing, and she & the Maestro hauled ass out the door with no mention of Brooks.
I sat there scratching my head after Leslie left, wondering who the hell had Brooks 😅
