The Young and the Restless, Shemar Moore, Malcolm Winters, Vivica A. Fox, Stephanie Simmons

On Tuesday, April 7, fans of “The Young and the Restless” will see the long-awaited return of Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox as Malcolm Winters and Dr. Stephanie Simmons, respectively.

Though Moore has been back in Genoa City several times over the years since concluding his original 1994-2005 run as Malcolm, this marks the first time since 1995 for Fox, who has made a name for herself in Hollywood outside of soaps starring in numerous films and television projects, including “Independence Day,” “Batman & Robin,” “Soul Food,” “Kill Bill Vol. 1,” “1-800-Missing” and “Empire,” and a long list of Lifetime original movies, among others.

As for Moore, he’s gone on to star as a lead in several series, including “Criminal Minds,” “S.W.A.T.,” and its upcoming sequel, “S.W.A.T. Exiles.” He made special appearances on “The Young and the Restless” in 2014, 2019, and more recently, 2023, which was in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary celebration, and saw his character take part in the hanging of a portrait of his late brother, Neil Winters (the late Kristoff St. John), which was unveiled as a tribute.

The storyline that brings their characters back to town in 2026 involves Malcolm receiving a life-altering medical diagnosis that requires family intervention, specifically from his daughter, Lily (Christel Khalil). Meanwhile, Stephanie is revealed to be Holden’s mother (Nathan Owens), and she has some news of her own to share with him.

In an interview with TV Insider, Moore talked about reuniting with Fox, with whom he also starred in the 2004 thriller “Motives,” which also starred Golden Brooks (“Girlfriends”) and Sean Blakemore (ex- Shawn Butler”General Hospital”). “Vivica’s done what she’s done, and she’s a sweetheart, and we’ve kept up,” said Moore. “She calls me Shemarsky. I’ve had a lot of nicknames, but there’s one person in this world that calls me Shemarsky, and that’s Vivica Fox. I just heard from down the hallway, ‘Shemarsky!’ and I was like, ‘Vivica is in the building.’”

Fox told the outlet, “Stephanie is back, and Stephanie has a lot of secrets that will be revealed.”

Check out a memorable moment from 1995 between Stephanie and Malcolm below.
