If Daniel Goddard had embraced the pairing with Traci (a beloved audience surrogate for decades) instead of being clearly repulsed, he might still have a job today.

Cane and Traci was friggin weird and also NOT realistic. I felt genuinely repulsed by them too, but for Daniel Goddard to have an issue with it is highly unprofessional. Shut up and do your job. You are the actor, not the writer.

The unexpected (and probably far too brief) returns of Malcom and Stephanie to Y&R this week have given us, by far, the most interesting and compelling group of episodes in a decade. These episodes have reminded me of the Bill Bell era, when Y&R was so much more than just a show about three billionaire families on a merry-go-round of "who is CEO of which company?". I have actually enjoyed Y&R this week.

True. On the other hand, I'm glad Beth Maitland (and the audience) were spared, lol.

I want to know if Nathan Jr. (Nate) is having scenes with Malcolm. Malcolm was his stepdad who raised him. I mean who all know who they are to each other, but has Y&R acknowledged it yet? (I'm behind on following this).

Nate was at GCAC with Malcolm, Devon and Lily but they didn't have a one on one. They are pressed for time with Shemar's appearances and the fact that Nate and Malcolm look roughly the same age probably factored into ignoring that relationship.

I appreciate that Nicholas is fully immersing himself in the depths of addiction and is now transitioning to the use of cocaine. I never thought he would be one of Nikki's kids to be an addict, but I love it, as it adds depth to his character.

Nathan and Christel on the current storyline.
No spoilers in these two videos.

(Christel also has a separate spoilerish interview with Fairman, which I put on the spoiler thread).

Christel interview (somewhat spoilerish, so don't click if you wish to remain spoiler-free.)

I'll just quote an interesting nonspoiler excerpt here:

Quote from SOD:
Many viewers had seen on-screen sparks between Khalil and Owens and assumed Y&R was setting them up for a love story — and Khalil confirms that the show did originally intend to pair the two characters. “That was actually going to happen,” she nods. “They were going to play the story that we were going to have a little love match before my maternity leave, actually. We were gonna do this whole little side storyline — and then that’s when Josh [Griffith, executive producer/head writer] got the idea of, like, ‘Oh, my God, they should be siblings!’ And then they were like, ‘Wait, wait, wait — did we ever have them kiss?’ And then they were like, ‘Oh, no. Thank God! We didn’t have them kiss!’ So, they ended up making us siblings, which I think is way more interesting.”
End quote.
