I've always wondered how long Clifton Davis agreed to do the show. (Also, the other big three.) Is he really looking to make daytime a thing, or did he agree to initially come on because of the historical aspect of it? Daytime is a grind and it isn't like he needs the work. Could a health crisis for him be a way to exit if the show had been picked up for yet another year (turns out two!)? Who knows?

Otherwise I agree it's too soon.

I also agree today was a bit meh after the rest of the week, but the previews look decent for next week.

It could conceivably be an out for Davis. I wouldn't assume he doesn't need the money, though. A lot of older Black actors have to keep working to earn a paycheck. Other than this his biggest gig was on Amen and that was 35 years ago.

Based on his interviews I think CD is in for the long haul unless his health fails. I wonder if they'd recast like an Edward Quartermaine or C.C. Capwell, or just rest the character. My suspicion is the latter which I'm not sure I'd agree with. But regardless I hope Davis is with us for many years to come. I don't think they're actually going to make Vernon senile.

When I saw that flashback, all I could see was Betty Draper looking for a smoke.

-- I wish the Madison lawsuit was more reasonable and not something that is so ridiculously frivolous. It just sounds like something that a judge would throw out immediately. Madison mentioned all the paperwork and time involved, but her lawyers would handle all of that.

This whole lawsuit thing again put me in the mind of this season of The Pitt, where a young doctor facing a nuisance lawsuit was treated as a commonplace matter of course for an ER doctor which the hospital would handle and which she was worrying about too much. That's pretty much how I took this Madison situation as they presented it onscreen, so their overdramatizing it was silly for me. In order to do that kind of story you'd need to make it a much more serious situation resulting from a major surgery gone wrong. Maybe something where Lia sabotages her because Madison or someone else in the family is inadvertently getting too close to the plasma ring.

I was reading posts elsewhere and the consensus is, please do not give Vernon a health crisis.

I'm in agreement with folks here and elsewhere, I don't want to see that.

There are "elderly" folk who are of complete sound mind and fit as a fiddle. Vernon should stay that way.

Again, I agree with you completely. The Pitt handled this realistically without getting into the weeds of the lawsuit.

Here we get Madison's mother's blog -- HER BLOG -- that precipitates a lawsuit. Madison goes into absolute spiral, followed by Chelsea freaking out that it will impact her own company. Are you kidding me?

It's just an unforced error, and I don't get it.

It'll be another unforced error if they go the memory loss route. I'm thinking it HAS to be caretaker overload because I can't believe the writers would be so stupid.

But then I see dumb writing such as with Madison's lawsuit -- and Bill telling her to settle -- and I have my doubts.

I didn't understand Madison's reasoning for telling Chelsea they needed to call off the wedding, besides the fact that it was dramatic as hell. She did mention that a lawsuit can impact Chelsea and her businesses if they were married, but a) she was yet to get any legal advice on the matter and b) you would think she was getting married next week not a year from now.

I wish that maybe they had written it so Madison's mom had recorded her and posted some of her comments out of context.

BTG is giving me Y&R vibes with characters constantly crossing paths at the same cafes. On the same day Naomi and Chelsea went to Uptown , then the ugly cafe before returning to Uptown. And the next episode Chelsea was back at Uptown...

Agreed. This sets problem isn't getting any better. The back and forth between that coffee shop and Uptown is too much.

And opening up that Airport Mall Coffee Shop Atrium by adding some depth to the back wall isn't much of an answer, either.

Where are characters going when they leave through that exit? 😂

It reminds me a bit of how AMC was (allegedly) overbudget in Julie Carruthers' later years at AMC to the point that they had to do that one-location dance contest while covering the move to LA.

But while I'm far from convinced JHC is the right co-EP for this show even if the cast and crew clearly love her, I don't really think the set issue is entirely down to her. The fact is Y&R and DAYS both have major set issues that make this look small time, and idk about B&B but I remember their beach club backdrop being paper or something awhile back lol. I'm not sure how much any EP short of FV could make their funds work for them more, and I don't want Frank here. I do think they need to cut some of these sets to make room for new ones. The airport cafe does not do it for me either.

Awww finally getting some other flashbacks besides Bill/Dani. This one shows why they are friends.

I just starting watching this week. Is this flashback showing why I love Dani/Vanessa as friends?
