Was searching the forum and was surprised this series didn't have a thread yet. I've been on an Australian soap kick lately, watching this and Number 96. Just finished episode 127 of The Box and am really enjoying the series so far. When I finish watching a DVD set, I'll rip it and upload it here:

The first two volumes have already been uploaded. With 14 volumes and a movie released, it's going to take some time to upload everything, but it should be worth it. As always, I look forward to reading your opinions about the series.

Thank you! I've read a lot about this show but have never seen very much. I know there's an Australian streaming service that is showing Number 96 (not sure how far they will go in the run) but nothing of The Box yet. Both these shows were so groundbreaking yet seem to be just remembered as '70s kitsch.

I recently uploaded some Number 96 episodes that probably came from that particular streaming site that weren't on the DVD sets:

If you combine them with this:

I believe you would have every surviving episode of Number 96 (plus the movie).

Regarding The Box, it's hard to think of that many series that are so of it's time and era than The Box was. Practically every hairstyle, outfit and set scream "the seventies". Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman wishes it was as seventies as The Box was. It seems that the more contemporary a series or film tries to be, the more dated it often becomes.

I loved the opening with the disclaimer/ exclamation point then fictional series represented and the exploding TV.

And of course the playful title of the show.

Oh, I am ready to dig into these! I watched a bunch of the Pantyhose Strangler storyline from 96 on YouTube years and years ago, and I adored it, so I'm excited to be able to watch so much more of it! I've never looked too much into The Box, but since it's available, I'm definitely going to get into it. Thanks for putting this up!

I didn't realize that Brollie was streaming episodes of Number 96 that weren't on the DVDs. Apparently they're going to stream all of the available episodes through the final episode, #1218 with five episodes added every Friday.

I added the bridging episode that covers the missed storylines from episodes 35-584 and episodes 713-774 to my Internet Archive page. (I probably should have started a Number 96 thread here as well).

Back to The Box, I noticed that Colleen Hewett's cover of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was cut from the pilot episode of the DVD release. You can faintly hear it in the background as Gary Burke discovers someone in his dressing room shower.

Thanks. If you want to add a Number 96 thread, I'd appreciate it and leave comments once I start watching more regularly. I am hoping they will add episodes a little more quickly on their site, although I still have plenty I haven't watched so that is silly on my part. I watched the bridging episode and I was startled at just how blunt they were able to get with the racist comments in their story with a black character (who I guess didn't stay around long - I hope more of those episodes show up someday...I'd love to know whether those clips mean the episodes survived). I have also watched some of the "last year of Number 96" special - the frankness shocked me (Nazi flags, male and female frontal nudity). The ratings still were flat, so I guess the public was just done with that type of show, as The Box ended around the same time.

I watched the Chances pilot last night - when I watch more I'll leave some comments. Thank you again.
