GH: Actor Taking Leave Of Absence

Again, I have my doubts FV has any devotion to Britt at this point given KT's many BTS antics. I think his only real interest there is in her extended family - Ryan Paevey's chest, Kathleen Gati, etc.

Britt was a means to a strategic end, namely finding a reasonably popular love option for Jason. Unfortunately they cocked it up, and I don't see FV going hard in the paint for her for years as he has Eden McCoy.

oh, is that big, bad WSB head guy gonna "kill" him? The have been dropping lots of hints. And Carly will spiral, and sleep with Valentine, etc. No one will be there to keep Danny on the "straight and narrow" and Charlotte will fully sink her talons into him (unless Sam comes back from the dead, as has been rumoured)

Sam is not coming back from the dead.

Folks (not you) need to stop dredging up every bad rumor they find on the fringe and breathlessly reposting it to various sites.

There are exactly two people in the entire, known universe who give two s**ts about that family, and they are Frank Valentini and Chris Van Etten. (Elizabeth Korte's just happy to be controlling Carly's destiny).

And she is doing such a great job with it too...

I'd say Ron still cares about the family too, even if he never got Ryan and Kathleen onto DAYS as Leo's bedwarmer and a demented recast of Sandy Horton.

2/13/26 Serious discussion with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson (unlike their usual show).
One of their few shows I was actually interested in, all the way through.

First 14 minutes:
Burton talks about why he's taking a leave from GH. Mentions that he was in Seattle for weekend of February 6-8, for a gaming&anime convention (He was on a panel with voice actors from Final Fantasy). He says he'll still do occasional traveling for appearances (and also with Bradford).
Then he talks seriously about the grind of the job and feels lucky for the job, but now wants to live life and have time with his family. This is the first 14 minutes.

Then Bradford talks briefly about his coming arc with Maxie's return (he didn't say how long but I got impression it's short).
Then Bradford talks extensively for about 13 minutes about what it's like to recur on GH, and how there is a legal arrangement on how he is booked each time, and he goes into the detailed specific legalities of how each recurring episode or arc is booked, which I found very interesting. Some things I'd never heard before.

Yes thanks @janea4old

I don't really have the time or interest to watch these podcasts, but I was interested in the discussion of recurring status.

But overall watching these two ramble on wasn't really for me. And Steve talking about being able to take time away for life balance ...how many people can go to their boss and negotiate that? It's not real world stuff.

Steve talked about coaching-can anyone elaborate?

Thanks @janea4old I appreciate the time you take watching and documenting these shows and interviews, complete with timestamps.

LOL, yeah I don't have any interest in Steve rambling either. That's why I summarized what he said, and gave the timestamp to go to Bradford talking about specific
legal-agreeements-that-aren't-contracts for his recurring gigs.

I agree that Steve has privilege to be able to do this. I think he's mentioned coaching on his ig in the past; but I never read it too closely, so I don't know what that's about.

They've all taken long breaks. Starting with Kirsten Storms, over and over and over. Genie, Finola, etc.

I just watched this and Steve was clearly impacted by James Van Der Beek's passing. That helped him make the decision that he just wants to live in the moment with his family. He's done this job for 40 years (starting at 15)... I mean, I get it. As a 40-something year old man, I start to think about mortality, time and the what-ifs. To me, he makes a lot of sense, especially as he talks about social media and people being hateful.

He's excited to come back this summer and says a great story will be there for him, which is exciting.

I've fallen in love with 46-year old Bradford Anderson. He looks so young still haha, but you can tell he's a mature family man as well. I love how he still cares about his coiffed hair haha.

It feels like we won't get Spinelli back as a contract player though. Bradford seems very happy with his recurring status and work/life balance.

Well now I've watched a couple of their episodes and these guys are so great. I love their friendship, their love for their families, and how they just want the world to be a kinder place. Love these guys! ❤️

You are not alone in this thinking, it came up a lot when Storms took her leave, and it’s a sentiment I have seen other places when this news broke, and again when KT spoke out about being frustrated.

I come at this kind of thing from a different place. It should be real for everyone to have access to this kind of leave from their jobs. It’s kind of like people being mad at poor folks that might abuse a system in place to help them, and not the same heat or more for the million and billionaires that make the programs necessary, and have every break available. Be mad at the system that fights worker’s rights, not the person for having access to them.

My issues always lie with the shows. If they had balanced storytelling it shouldn’t be a big deal. When you read classic soap synopsis characters used to leave all the time for a couple of months then be picked back up.

I like them together too, both onscreen and off. But I also have a hard time with the thought process that Steve espouses that he cares so much about the world being a kinder place when he refused vaccination and aligns himself with that kind of policy thinking, and question where his brand of conservative Christianity is in this moment with racism, transphobia, fascism, misogyny, immigration, etc.

Ahhh I didn't realize that. I only remember hearing about Ingo, but I suppose GH has their share of actors on both sides of the spectrum. I bet that's an interesting workplace dynamic haha.
