I'm not crazy about how they're dealing with the hair loss situation.

-- Will she continue to lose her hair in a realistic way, like most cancer patients suffering hair loss? Or will they pretend that Anita's problem is solved with a haircut? If they're going to portray this realistically, Anita will have to wear a head scarf or turban for months. I don't know that the show is willing to go there.

I've recently learned there's an elaborate process of "scalp cooling" (freezing the hair) and using gels which keeps most chemo patients from losing their hair. A friend of mine opted for that and went through chemo without ever losing hair (except eyebrows). I had no idea the process even existed until last year.

Which begs the question as to why Anita wouldn't know this with all her money and connections.

I kinda thought with Anita's long flowing hair, she might opt for scalp-cooling from the get-go. The person I knew who was doing it went through a "hair cooling" process shortly before each chemo session and then wore a "cold cap" during the chemo infusions which kept the hair pretty much "frozen" during the infusion. There's also a long list of things you can't do -- not supposed to use any hair-coloring products, not supposed to curl it or iron it or any of that stuff. All I know is that it works.

The obvious answer is that scalp cooling would take away from the storyline. Losing your hair because of chemo is an expected part of a cancer storyline.

Side note, but Sean Freeman is presented on an awards show on BET. I just heard my mom say "That's Andre" lol.

I hear you.

For me the mistake is pretending that Anita's long hair was her own. Doesn't we all assume that was a wig? It was a great wig and looked good on her, but it was clearly a wig.

Now we're supposed to pretend that was her real hair. Huh? Dani cuts it and all of a sudden Anita's long straight hair turns curly -- and there's no mention of further hair loss.

I realize we might hear more about this. BTG has surprised us with more in the past. I'm just concerned this wasn't fully thought out.

I've said before that I don't want the show to be cancer heavy, but I also don't want the show to cover real issues in an unrealistic way.

Anita already gets a private room for her chemo treatments. You've brought up a hair loss treatment that these people should know about and can afford.

Am I nitpicking again? Yeah, I am, because serious issues shouldn't be treated with anything less than the truth. If they can't do that, I'd rather not see it at all.
