SOD: "Soap Opera Digest can confirm the news, first reported by The Daily Mail"

tvinsider said the same "The story of the cast changes first appeared in the Daily Mail."

Why is the Daily Mail breaking this news?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15458987/Days-Lives-peacock-nbc-carson-boatman-raven-bowens.html

‘It was a New Year bloodbath at Days of Our Lives this month as the cast returned from a Christmas hiatus,’ an insider told the Daily Mail.

‘Four cast members were immediately let go. Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Ashley Puzemis and Leo Howard were given their walking papers in a shock move as soon as the show resumed taping after the holidays.

‘Days decided they needed to switch things up. All four actors were let go last week within a day of getting back from the show’s holiday hiatus. They were totally blindsided, especially Carson who was in the middle of renegotiating a new contract.’

Is DM a reliable source?

Classic DAYS!

The NEW fight to save DAYS!

Even though it was already renewed through 2027-2028, it's already preparing to close out 2026 from a production standpoint... let that sink in. Scary!

That's ridiculous. Beyond ridiculous to be closing out 2026's production when we just started the dang year.

Errol IMO this show is on it's last legs for real.

We won't get those headlines until names like MBE and Stephen Nichols go (not saying I want them to go - I just won't be surprised as that happened 2-3 times with them).

Carson Boatman Addresses His Shocking Days of Our Lives Exit

Carson Boatman, who is exiting Days of Our Lives as Johnny DiMera, issues a heartfelt statement on his shocking exit.

We all said DAYS was on its last legs when it moved to Peacock. That was four years ago. It currently has a 2-year renewal. I am never counting it out at this point. I just think this is typical Corday churn and burn through people, some of which they will inevitably bring back off and on. It's too bad this show can never find more stability.

Leo Howard could hypothetically do well at GH as Cameron or something, but he's too similar to some of the young men they already have or could have.

News of the lay-offs ‘came as a shock to all of them,’ according to our insider who said ‘there were no warning signs whatsoever’ – with other cast members now said to be living in ‘fear’.

‘It was a big blow not only to the four actors, but also to the rest of the cast,’ they said. ‘If it can happen to four of the young cast who had major storylines, the general thought is it can happen to anyone.

‘There’s a major feeling of dread, chaos and fear now. The cast were excited to get back to work but four major lay-offs is what greeted them as soon as they returned.’

The show just has no money. IMO, luck has gotten it through these last five years. They should have made changes in the writing YEARS ago. The 2020 shutdown should have been used to make said changes, but they instead kept it status quo. They should have also done something when they let the entire cast go a few years ago. Again, nope.

Cutting out the younger cast that actually clicked with the audience... This is strange and weird and definitely NOT the choices I would've made when it comes to trimming the fat, especially Carson and Raven as Johnny & Chanel.
