-- It's good to see BTG getting this support from the (undeserved) #1 daytime drama. Will it bring eyeballs to Gates? I'm not sure.

Let hope it brings eyes, although I cannot argue with that undeserved comment. I just don't get. It is what it is, though.

-- The ratings are evidence that Y&R is still #1 because of old and older viewers. Their "lead" comes from the older demos, and both B&B and GH are THISCLOSE to Y&R in the 18-49 demo.

I know a lead is a lead, but I don't see how anyone at the network can be happy with a show that skews "ancient." I know I sound ageist, but Y&R is lucky they have an audience that watches out of habit and tradition.

-- At the same time, I am a little concerned about BTG's ratings. The last report wasn't good and showed a loss of viewers. I hope it was just a blip, but it's something to keep an eye on.

I think Errol just said over in the ratings thread BTG recently had a much better week. I may be wrong.

As I said in the crossover thread, it's a smart move. EB/Victor still has a lot of pull with the casual audience, no matter the sorry state of Y&R.

Maybe Kial should've been one of Anita's doctors, in order to bring Nicole and him closer together in a better way. They did have some chemistry today.

And, I did like seeing Andre and Hayley going head to head today. I worry about what's going to happen to his and Dani's marriage in the future.

I'm not surprised that Chelsea and Madison are on the outs. TPTB don't seem terribly invested in them since they had no major story since the whole Allison incident and this whole drug thing feels like an excuse to rip them apart so that they won't have to write for them as much.

The show hasn't really invested in Chelsea as a character since day 1 unless it had something to do with Dani.

A lot of her story is told instead of seen including this insta relationship with Madison.

-- Good scenes with Andre and Hayley, but what was up with that crowd noise? All of a sudden, we're at a location with dozens and even hundreds of people around.

-- Golden Corral Casino Mobster Joey is so tough. What an alpha.

-- Madison should leave Chelsea already. Chelsea has one response to dealing with all her trauma, and that's drugs. Great coping, Chels. And then she asks Madison to marry her? This girl isn't mature enough to date.

-- Bill is already bored with Hayley. At least it took a few years before he got bored with Dani.

-- I'm perpetually amused that Vanessa thinks she's a business guru because she runs an escort service.

-- I'm also amused that all of these people hiring escorts are the rich and the beautiful. Can't they find sex partners on their own? Yeah, I know -- they want it quick and easy with no emotional attachments 😂

-- I'm OK with Nicole wanting to branch out from who she's been, but GMAB with that dress. I think it goes too far into trashy mode.

-- I'm sure many people thought Kat was too much (again) today, but Colby Muhammad is absolutely killing it in the role. I love to watch her work.

I'm still not clear why a super successful realtor wants to get involved with a mobster and an escort service.

Nicole has the attention of 2 doctors and an ex who would take her back in a minute and she heads off to a bar in a slinky dress?

I feel like Nicole has moved away from the calm, wise presence we saw at first. I know the marriage betrayal shook her but...

I can see Bill being disenchanted with Hayley as all she seems to do is cling on to him-either nagging or trying to get sexay.

Always a chuckle when Hayley and Randy meet up in a public place regularly frequented by half the town for their top secret meet ups. And luckily, it's always a time when none of the other regulars are there.

I'm sorry, but Vanessa is the last person to pass judgement on Bill considering the notches on her bedpost have caused the wood to vanish... and while married to Doug. I still say she is partly responsible for his death, but it's a shame that MVJ doesn't quite view her the way a logical person would view her.

When looking at Kat, Naomi, and Chelsea... I think the best written and developed of the three are Kat.

Kat has so many different sides to her personality, she is head strong, knows what she wants, and can even admit when she goes overboard. Her story arc is strongly defined with the sisterly issues with Eva, relationships with both her parents, her up and down relationship with Tomas, and her cousin bond with her bestie/business partner Chelsea.

Naomi also has a pretty well defined character arc though the layers are hard to show. She was parentified by both her parents at a young age, she sought motherly comfort from Anita, she is head strong and driven. Her issues with Jacob stem from her untreated angst/issues with both of her parents and how their marriage dynamic was. Deep down she resents Dani for being such a doormat to her father so she vows to be the exact opposite and succeeds. She ended up marrying a people pleaser and has walked all over him in the same way that her father Bill walked over her mother Dani. Lots of elements to explore, but that would involve the show casting Dani in a negative light and i don't think MVJ is ready to go that far yet.

Lastly, we come to Chelsea.. who I think has ample amounts of potential.. but has been given the short end of the stick by the writers since day 1. Her whole trople set up, the dalliance with the stalker, and even her relationship with Madison have either been fast tracked or occurred off screen. When watching Chelsea/Madison today... I realized that I never got to see the process of their coupling.. that it looked as though they were thrown quickly together so that Allison could stalk Chelsea and kidnap her. And also, to check off the diversity box without bothering to really devote time and energy to this coupling.

I think it was less about judgement and more about keeping Dani from ruining her marriage with Andre over residual feelings for Bill. And I think Vanessa's partial responsibility for Doug's death will be addressed when the truth finally comes out that Joey had him killed.

I don't think they exactly shied away from portraying Dani negatively in the first year. Particularly not the first six months.

I also do think they know Vanessa is delusional. But her toxic character arc has always made sense to me, because it's one of the few that is clearly defined and multi-layered on the show. She's talked her way several times through how getting involved in Joey's world made her feel actualized beyond her sleepy home life as an empty nester in a broken marriage, selling houses and sleeping with busboys or coaches but having little else. Here she feels she is newly empowered. It's a power fantasy which will come crashing down, but I understand why she's all in because LB and the writing (likely Guza's work) made me understand her and sympathize with her foolishness.
