100%.

I had a lot of hope for this show, but it's not even worth the effort of hate-watching the ChatGPT writing and surface-level characters. But I do keep up with the thread/spoilers to see if something piques my interest. It's not a mortal sin to think the show isn't any good, as if people are taking shots at Guza's GH 1996-1999 or Hogan Sheffer's ATWT 2000 eras.

Nobody said that, so don't exaggerate. Soapsuds has been very hostile about the show since it was in planning if I recall correctly and he gives big micro aggression vibes at times. If this was an all White show filled with stereotypical handsome White men playing out the same storylines he would be praising it. I don't have an issue with people not liking the show, it's the trolling vibes I don't like.

I'm not exaggerating. It's rinse and repeat at this point.

I don't post as much, especially in this thread, because I like to let people enjoy what they like. But that Nicki Minaj comment hit a nerve. It wasn't directed at me, but I'm a Black woman, and I don't care for the show. You can easily put white actors in some of these roles, and BTG would still be lacking.

It wasn't directed at you so you have no reason to be offended. It's fine if you don't care for the show because everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that particular poster has other reasons for the constant backhanded comments that read differently than criticism of other soaps. Some people just are not comfortable with a soap created by a Black writer (and I am not directing that at you) and it shows. I see this all the time with Black content on television and it strikes a nerve with me.

And I completely respect your POV, particularly the bolded part, which I agree with. That's why my frustrations with BTG are so high. I wanted this show to prove critics wrong, especially those who made up their minds before the first episode.

I can't speak for the other poster, but the Minaj comment only hit a nerve for me because I thought it inferred that maybe only white people had issues with BTG.

But as I said, I don't want to be a killjoy for anyone who does enjoy the show. I don't want to dump on the show just because or [!@#$%^&*].

You are wrong and remember incorrectly. I was elated when I heard the Tamara Tune news and DDP news.

You are doing a disservice to a show you love by praising some of its awful writing, from Martin's awful resolution to his story, to name just one.

Are you being serious?

So many shows I've enjoyed that were written by black writers.

Try again

I've said that there have been some issues with the writing including having too much going on at one time. The show isn't perfect and needs to move some of the storylines it has already started. But I'm not going to argue about it and I've voiced my opinions.

No one voices more complaints about the show than I do, but I try to be specific about dialogue, plot, characters, etc. Maybe that's why people tolerate my complaints. Either that or they're just ignoring me.

Your comments come off as really vague, though. You're unhappy with the show, but I don't have a read as to why -- just that you're not happy.

The ChatGPT writing and lack of character development/storytelling turned me off. But I can go into detail about why I stopped watching regularly.

Leslie is a cartoon. It's as if the writers mistook her popularity as a reason to eat the show, and somehow, $1 million makes her the richest woman in the world. She's not entertaining but exhausting. By extension, Ted is pointless. He's very surface and not at all a leading man. In fact, most of the men on the show have no gravitas. I'm all for the women characters having solid POVs, but the men just come across as just there.

Bill is the exception. The actor elevates the material and just brings it. Karla Mosley is also really great as Dani (who can be a lot). Dani/Andre do have amazing chemistry. I can't deny that.

The Martin story was a bust.

There's no young couple or underdog to root for. I thought Eva would be that flawed spitfire (AM is a find), but she's a one-note character. It's a choice that Eva gets to be so destructive, but Kat is the villain because she doesn't want to embrace her. Not to mention they're fighting over wooden Tomas while Ted has just accepted Eva.

Naomi is just horrid. I don't really think that her, Chelsea, Jacob, and the teens needed to be in Season 1.

I was curious about Winterfest, and nothing happened. Greg Vaughn's intro did nothing for me. There could've been a meet/cute with Nicole.

I just expected more from BTG. I do hope that it can pull a season 2 "Different World" and turn things around. All the elements are there. But right now, the show doesn't do it for me.

I more than appreciate your comments, and I see your point in all of them. Thanks for explaining.
