It could've been a great story! Peter returns and is still in love with Jennifer. Organic conflict for Jack and Jennifer.

I know MR has played Jennifer almost the entire time, but I really, really enjoyed CM in the role. I thought she breathed some new life into it. Plus, she may be available full-time. If Cady were playing it, they couldn't gone full steam ahead with a Jack/Jennifer/Peter story.

I don't know how many viewers would have cared. A lotof that triangle didn't have Melissa and that version wasn't very popular with viewers. Even if Melissa agreed to play it, he was basically some guy Jennifer sort of loved for a few years because she thought he was good and Jack was unreliable.

I do think it's a waste for Jack and Jennifer to have zero involvement, but even if they did, their days as central characters are long gone.

I just hope that while they have Dan Gauthier they will come up with something of value for him.
