By the way, I’m fine with the reset. I never thought Tesoro was going to make it to birth, and honestly, the sooner we retire the baby doll in the toy carriage, the better. Still, it’s a shame this turns into yet another reason for Chanel and Johnny to cry. They’ve been stuck in the belly of the whale for too long. They deserve a moment to just live.

And yes, the clues were there. Today confirmed that Sofia never considered Aaron could be the father, so it wasn’t like she was trying to deceive anyone. I appreciated that. Her confusion felt genuine.

And now that we can blame Sophia for hurting Holly, rather than blaming her for abandoning her baby, it feels like that story is headed for a conclusion on Friday.

What’s most striking is how clearly we’ve hit a reset. Everything tied to the writer transition has been quietly shelved, and we’re back to familiar territory. It’s not a time jump—it’s a hard reboot. The Dimeras own Dimera again. Titan is back with the Kiriakis family. Tate’s not the father. And Brady still doesn’t understand how babies are made.

I think it's clear Sophia doesn't think logically.  I don't think she's dumb exactly, but very naive.  She's not even a villain exactly. Just very confused and messed up. I mean she had to know there was a chance the baby wasn't Tate's if she slept with 2 men, but whatever.

The Chanel and Johnny situation is very annoying to me because it's basically the same ending regardless.  They will get baby T and we wasted months on the back and forth of it all.  At least Johnny figured the situation out pretty quickly.  I never thought he was the sharpest tool in the shed, so good for him.

I would restate my defense that the character of Sophia calls for such a whiplash of heightened emotions that it makes the actress look nuts.

For example, she felt nothing toward Tate over the summer.  Then he abandoned her in her time of need.  And, then two months later, she had to illustrate that she was suddenly obsessed with Tate.

She played the birth well, and the immediate aftermath.  Then, they tag on this adoption BS, so Sophia can be blamed for something (besides giving birth).  And suddenly she's a schemer.  I could understand a young actress, given such poorly written motivation, having a tough time pulling it off.

I would only give Rachel Boyd credit for playing the birth and aftermath well.  Most of the time she seems very robotic, barely human, and completely transparent.

The dots don't connect at all with the story.  Sophia had 9 months to set up her plot and she only goes after Tate when the baby is gone?  It makes no sense.  Teen Sami would never....lol

I think today's confusion shows there was never a plot.  Sophia thought the baby would be adopted at birth, so it didn't matter who the father could be.  Tate chose of his own free will to stick by her.  She wasn't actively trying to come between Tate and Holly, and everyone was honest about the situation.

Sophia's romantic focus on Tate seems to only have developed in August, postpartum.  To me, it feels like that all happened in that one episode where they all played minigolf.

Also, Holly's got to work on those maternal instincts.  She was so close with Rachel on her first day of school.  Now, Holly's going to ghost her and move to Europe.

I wished the show would have focused on Sophia wanting to live her life.  She didn't want the child, couldn't get an abortion, and wanted to move on.  She seems to be clinging to Tate because of the trauma-not because she actually wants him.  There is something empowering about Sophia making choices for her future, but it became derivative when she decided she only wanted a man instead.

Ari and Theo were charming.

I'm calling a personal moratorium on questioning the age gap of couples on DAYS.

At some point, it gets as hacky as a comedian making jokes about airplane food.

Happy 40th Anniversary Melissa Reeves!

I like that the episode was focused mostly on Jennifer's branch of the Horton family. And that Julie was included as well. We got a lot of those sweet, dorky moments today lol and moments like that make Days what it is. And I always love when characters take trips down memory lane and when we get flashbacks too. Jennifer's 80s and early 90s hairstyles were on point 😂😂😂

And I'm glad that JJ and Thomas eventually got to be included in the fun as well lol

As for Chad/Cat, I still don't know about Thomas and the rest of Abigail's family being the spoiler for them as a couple. It just feels like the wrong move. It's like Days wants us to be pro Chad/Cat but it's just not working. Honestly, I don't see how it can work, especially after everything that's happened since AnnaLynne McCord debuted. And you know, all of this could have been avoided if a certain writer hadn't lost his s*it and changed the storyline after he came back from being on strike, just saying. But I will say that Billy Flynn and AnnaLynne McCord did a very good job today.

Btw, now Jack's got a leather jacket too. Father and son can match 😂😂

I don't think it's unfair or hacky to ask how old Theo is lol.   He is JJ's peer, was engaged to Ciara, and lived with Claire in a serious relationship for several years.  His life experiences, not just relationship experience, widely vary from Ari, who just turned 18.

All that being said, I think JJ, Theo, Gabi, and even Ari look vaguely the same age range lol.  I am not even against and Ari/Theo pairing.  They were cute.  I do think it's valid to ask if it's a bit odd for Theo to be potentially dating someone so young.  Not worse than Chad dating a woman that pretended to be his dead wife, but enough to raise a John Black eyebrow on my end.

My take is that cannon-based age gap relationships are such a part of the fabric of the show, it is like criticizing it for people crying too much.

It is not that it isn't worth asking, the issue exists when we use it as a criterion for disliking a pairing, over the actual chemistry that partnering of two actors creates.

Age gaps don't necessarily bother me especially when someone's age is vague.  Ari's age isn't vague.  She's 18, just graduated high school, and just started college.  She's not only way younger than Theo, but her life experience is so different from Theo's.  I know Ari is literally related to EVERYONE, but the show should at least acknowledge there's a huge gap there.

Clearly, personally, I can get over an age gap.  Sonny and Brenda are my favorite couple ever and she was 18 when he was 30, but they had chemistry and GH acknowledged she was young for Sonny.

"Cannon based" age gaps are important to address to flesh out a believable relationship.  But, hey, Theo and Ari haven't even gone on a date yet, so it might not matter at all.

How are the Hortons being hypocritical?  I don't like the way Jen's being written, but it's her daughter Cat was impersonating, Thomas is clearly traumatized, and she can feel how she wants.  It was a celebration of Missy's 40 years on the show, so I can leave it at that.

I wish they'd give Flynn and ALM something better to do since they are both very capable.

Spoiler

And, yes, I am aware Flynn's gone

I've had my issues with the Chad/Cat pairing, mainly the forced situations they've found themselves in being repetitious and silly, but AnnaLynne McCord was strong enough today that I found my heart breaking for Cat.  Her and Chad do have chemistry and their relationship has such complexity to it that when written maturely like today, they excelled. Where both characters go from here should be interesting.

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane with Jennifer, one of my favourite heroines. There was a section where it was just flashback after flashback that would have had no chance of being possible if DAYS were still on network tv. It made me remember how I felt like I'd won the lottery years ago when I found a Jack/Jennifer dedicated website that had a treasure trove of classic clips, which is where I first saw the integral post-rape slap scene; some of Ashford and Reeves' best work. The show basically mentioning how Jack and Jennifer are the unconventional super-couple is helped by both of them actually aging naturally. Not a botox needle in sight. Also, Frankie (bring him back!) and Emilio Ramirez mentioned in 2025!

The JJ flashback clip in the beginning had me emotionally invested immediately, and I wasn't even watching then. This current story would be even stronger if we got Abe's point of view at some point. Him and Roman discussing it could be a great scene. When was the last time they even shared a scene?

This has been a very strong week. Let's hope tomorrow can stick the landing.
