So is Carly part of the WSB too?  I'm very late to the game, but curious why she's in Switzerland all of a sudden and wearing a disguise.

This show is so hard to jump into in the middle of everything going on, but I'm trying. I like many of the characters, but the relationships and mobs/agencies/factions are hard to keep up with without a lot of Googling.

With that said, that Gino is a cutie haha. And the Tracy/Lulu/kids scenes were fun today.

I remember Lois from the 90s when I was watching here and there, but has she always had such a thick accent?  I was surprised to hear that!

It’s actually wild Trina has zero relationship now with the father that actually raised her.

It comes back to something I have said on here before. You either write soaps with the mentality of how wonderful it is to get all this time, because you can really explore all the little parts of the story. Or they work from the mindset of how in the hell are we going to fill all this time? Writers either have a brain for how this should work or they don’t.

Imagine Curtis, trying to give Trina and Taggart space, but also admittedly being jealous of that. Trina not accepting Curtis out of loyalty to the father that raised her. Taggart and Portia coming to terms. Curtis getting to actually explore this very deep betrayal by Portia. Portia being given space to explain to herself, any confidant she had left, and eventually all three of them why she did it. Trina being more reckless than she was because she was tired of growing up listening to someone who lied to her about a fundamental truth. We could have had months of scenes to chew on that! Instead they kind of just blew past it without any deep exploration.

Maybe it’s just me. I know a lot of people didn’t like Mulcahey slowing things down, having the characters talk more about everything. In my viewing timeline, we had two successful presentations of story on GH. Monty and everyone after her told mostly plot driven stories, but they played every beat and the characters did get defined through them for the most part. Riche and JFP told mostly character based stories where deep, rich dialogue brought the characters to life between big events. The pace for both was faster than traditional soaps, but still played things out. Valentini, especially now, plays more like Monty but with very little character work, mostly just generic dialogue to support the plots.

I still want Jason to (honor Monica's memory and) at least become a paramedic.

That's what would have happened if the  Alan and Edward hadn't missed it up

Britt has been back for like over a month and literally has revealed NOTHING and acts so damn offended anytime someone wonders why the hell she faked her death.

So, Gio's all shocked that Tracy "drugged" Ronnie, but is perfectly fine with the fact that Sonny kills people for a living? OK 🖕

-- I felt like I was watching a different soap today, with Carly in that ridiculous wig and getting into spy jail to see Valentin so easily and quickly.

-- The "Tracy Lives With Lulu" stuff is "fun"....I guess? I just have a problem with Tracy moving in with someone and sleeping on their couch. I don't see it happening. And then she wants to put an entire storage truck full of stuff into Lulu's house? Ridiculous.

-- Mo Benard was having a bad day.

-- Are Ezra and Professor Dalton gone? Or just two more characters Frank hired and disposed of stat?

The Gio Quartermaine hate is one of the dumbest writing decisions on this show.

The show will never let Gio completely stop resenting the Quartermaines because deep down they likely still see them as immoral, whereas Sonny, aside from some lip service, will be seen as in the right. If we're meant to care about Gio he's never going to go against Sonny in any meaningful way (like Joss' anti-Sonny blathering that went nowhere)

It looks worse that Brook Lyn believes Tracy would have drugged Ronnie, especially as the plan makes no sense.

Once the truth it out I have my doubts either of them will even feel sorry for doubting her, as Tracy is forever the family pariah. (and in this case not even in any way that is meant to honor history - just cheap, easy material)

I do think some get allergic to any soap that isn't constant plot points, and the ratings drop from that time will just confirm Frank's view. I agree with you that I prefer character-driven, richer, slower soap. The sad part is Mulcahey never really got to do that, aside from some poignant moments with Tracy, Gregory, and (of all people) Finn. Bringing up Trina, beyond one scene at Spencer's grave, all I remember of her then was that very degrading scene of her groveling to Joss and calling herself a bitch. That likely wasn't down to Mulcahey, I can guess some of those who probably pushed that scene through, but it really showed how far away GH is from the richer inner lives and conversations of long ago.

I think there was some good character work in Mulcahey's time, including when Dante was shot but after as well. The problem is a lot of the plotlines largely ground to a halt, and we know some of what happened there.

Trina's best scene since NAC's exit remains that long, long day at his grave.

I don't think the current show hates the Qs (and I do think Gio will fully reconcile with the Qs by  Christmas), but I do think they still go for the cheap stuff with Tracy too often. They seem to want it both ways a lot of the time - they do clearly see her as the vanguard and standard bearer of the family now, which she is, and want to use her for emotional stuff when the moment warrants it. They do value her for that up to a certain point, and that was clear not only when Mulcahey was here but for quite a long stretch afterwards up til now. The balance there has improved since he came in and then remained that way much of the time after he left. But they also sometimes still want to use her as an easy antagonist for someone they want to prop up.

While Tracy should always and will always have her worst instincts, there's less two-dimensional ways to play it if she is going to lash out at Ronnie. I totally buy her doubting this woman, but if you're just painting the scenes by numbers from rote, that's lazy. I just don't know who's in the market for another scene of the Qs shaking their heads at Tracy's shocking behavior this soon after Monica's death.

It also doesn't help guest star Erika Slezak with a certain segment of the audience to have her be used as a tool with which to belittle Tracy yet again. There are fans who are not here for that, no matter which big OLTL star it is. Erika is doing fine work everyday but I have yet to see the purpose of all this unless she is a con.
