I do blame some on the fans, as attempts at deemphasizing or even slightly changing the narrative for characters like Carly or Sonny leads to complaints or a ratings drop, locking everything firmly back into place.

I just don't think they've ever been firmly challenged on that, or given strong enough alternatives. But most of us here I think are realists and are not asking to write Sonny or Carly off the show at this point. There are ways to work with them on-canvas, or even reinvigorate aspects of those characters. The issue is that Frank is on cruise control on so many things, except when it comes to playing his favorites. So he doesn't bother.

I was such a fan of RC when he originally came to GH because he did the impossible and made Sonny practically irrelevant. I don’t even remember fan complaints at the time quite the opposite but someone obviously stepped in and he fell in line and Sonny was the star of the show again, Maurice remembering his lines be damned.

What has been more facepalm worthy this week?

1.  Rocco dining with his "other family."

2.  Alexis and Ava patting each other on the back about being good mothers.

3.  Jason being outraged about Brennan putting someone he loves in danger.  Because that's his and Sonny's job, I guess.  Maybe if he saw parallel's between Brennan/Joss and him and Sonny it could work, but that will never happen.

It would have been an improvement probably?  Idk, JPS is a big part of the issue.  I don't know if anyone could make the writing for the character work though.

It was just a thought.  I don't think CM is particularly a good fit for AJ or anything.  You could tweak just a few things about Drew's return and make it AJ's.  Not that it was a good story anyway though lol.

I think the character could work if he was rested. But we know Frank can't do that.

I like the idea of CM as a potential AJ. Thanks to Drew's turn, CM has proven he could do that. Hmmm...I could see that, too.

LOL at that bold.

I mean, some of the best times on this show has been when Sonny is background along with the mob. Like there has been so many times when the focus shifts back to the hospital, the show has still carried and carried well. And then the show has one of its abrupt shifts and back to the land of Sonny propping.

Side-note...I kinda lit up seeing Emma/Gio/Trina/Kai...okay Kai not so much...together just now at the gym. We don't see the young ones often enough for me.

And...Gio's bubble...mmm.

I guess I wasn't paying attention...so Trina and Kai are back together?

This hard sell is the worst part of Frank's usual M.O. and it's gonna bite KT in the end. Already is. GH fans by and large are just not here for it, especially not with a couple or core characters like Dante and Lulu. They're an afterthought a lot of the time and it's crazy. That and her behavior will finish her off.

As someone who kind of liked the original Jason/Britt pairing, I don't know why since her return, they have chosen to write her as nasty as she during her original run in the Patrick/Sabrina storyline. By the time she was killed off, she was close with Spencer (she hasn't even said anything about learning about his death since she came back), was starting to become close to Doctor Randolph and didn't act like a 7 year old.

There was way too much whore in today's episode. Carly, and Britt too, should've smacked the hell out of her. And all that talk of Dex was hilarious.

While I'm enjoying dark Michael, I feel like it's being totally undercut by the fact that he's still Sonny and Carly's little boy. GH really needed to have Michael turn on everybody once he came back from Germany.

But I enjoyed Chase and Dante going head to head. And I really hope all of this stuff with Michael and Willow somehow ends up affecting Chase and Brook Lynn somehow. That could be a pretty good storyline. And I'm glad Chase called Dante out about being biased.

And I don't hate Jason/Britt, but they were a total snoozefest today.

@carolineg Only one missing today is mumbles.

Ugh.  Sonny isn't actually on my bad list.  It's only when he interacts with the DA.  Or possibly Britt, but I don't know if they have ever interacted lol

I think this could be an interesting idea on another era of GH, but if it happened here I'm afraid the focus would have been on how immature he is and why can't he remember how great Sonny and Carly are. I would like to think, although that isn't in the script, that Michael has been hardened enough by everything with Willow and the fire that he's close to them but they aren't as much of his focus as they used to be (it seemed like they were both on the outside of his getting Willow arrested).

My issue with Valentin is one of my issues with the Cassadines as a whole - in order for them to stay on the show long-term they have to lose their edge. Stefan had a quiet menace initially, a fist in a velvet glove, but by about 1997 we were in Patch/Kayla and then Lasha Fever mode and he was never the same. Alexis has her moments but that isn't generally who she is. Nik - well that was a whole mess. Helena and Stavros were maybe the most menacing, and that's down to neither staying on for long (Helena was there for many years but often just in stretches).

I guess you could say him manipulating Charlotte to go after Britt is some of the old Cassadine flair.

I think Cameron lacks the warmth or vulnerability that AJ often had alongside his darker edges. I think of Drew as who all the self-righteous figures in Port Charles saw AJ as being. He flipped so fast from being a "good" person to being fully malevolent it was a potent commentary, even if not intended, on how shallow many of the moral voices of town are now.

I wonder if we're meant to even think they were being honest about the good mother BS.

I can buy that Jason is so angry, as I'm sure in his mind he, Sonny and Carly always shielded Joss, but it doesn't quite work as we didn't see any real danger for Joss - it all worked out for her, as she got some fresh dick and everything (certainly not easy to come by in Port Charles).

That is an idea. Instead of Drew miraculously turning evil, AJ actually had a motive to be nasty to the Quartermaines. He was the black sheep for years. I can't see him betraying Michael with Willow after everything he went through to get his son though.
