Y&R: October 2025 Discussion Thread

JG is so bad at knowing how to stretch out a s/l and this is coming from someone who enjoys a long drawn out storyline (atleast a year) if all the right beats are played with some twists thrown in. This Tessa/Mariah storyline already feels excruciatingly long & it’s only really been going for a few months but I swear they just keep writing the same conversations over and over again in a scene to stretch the s/l out longer. That scene between Sharon and Tessa at the coffee house felt like it’s already been had like 3 times at least. Where are the twists and the suspense? It just lacks everything that makes a solid storyline. Boring conversations of the same sh*t day in and day out is not entertaining and I get there are budget restraints but that doesn’t excuse the lack of imagination.

I was going to say Party City, but you might be right.

I'm surprised Amy is still around. Maybe they are just wrapping up her stint. Her son has been killed off and she has no real connections to GC.

Maybe they should have brought on a recast Olivia instead.

Yeah, and although Amy and Tracy have often talked about being great friends, have they even had a scene together during Amy's return to the show?   Amy has seemed way too isolated for my taste.  I so no reason to have isolated her to such a degree for all these months. Lazy writing.

I can’t believe JG kept her around after killing off her retcon son as he was picking up steam.

I recall twice where Amy said she was catching up with Traci but we never saw it.

This head writer is so strange.  Why bring back a classic character and then isolate her from the few characters in town who might remember her?  No other writer would do that.  Nutty.

And he’s completely unchecked by TPTB. People keep watching so they literally don’t care that the number one soap is literally far and away the worst written one out of the remaining shows.

Josh Griffith needs to go.

I'm wondering if the bad wigs are supposed to be a result of Amy's cancer treatment.  Although losing her hair has never been mentioned in the scripts, maybe the purpose of the bad wigs is to indicate that she has indeed lost her hair.  To be honest -- Amy's wigs have been so bad (since day one), there almost has to be a reason for them.   

It goes without saying that Y&R is awful these days.

Still, Jess Walton made today's episode worth it. She elevated every scene, and actually did Billy Flynn a huge favor, making his Cane work better than before.
