I don't think Hayley's twist is so unearned or unnatural. This kind of dangerous con artist is a common character in soaps.

I do think she is now going to be a finite villain, or maybe pop in and out from time to time when this story runs its course. She's made it clear she is prepared to murder Bill Hamilton for his money. That has a shelf life on any soap opera and eventually she's going to go. Leslie is more likely the long-term in-house antagonist, not Hayley (and despite freakouts from social media viewers unused to soap opera, Leslie remains a popular villain for the show).

I'm fine with a short-term antagonist. It's a great twist and an exciting story, but I'm not looking for her to be redeemed or made sympathetic. Not every villain needs to hang around forever. Look at Janice Frame, who everyone has already cited.

I think two things that could extend her life is either blackmail bc she knows Bill and the Duprees secrets or she actually does get pregnant and uses that child as leverage. Once she and Bill are over, I could see her transitioning to getting involved with Izaiah especially if he's the black sheep of the family

BTW has he made a background appearance yet bc I noticed him in the end credits

I'm thinking this is what eventually gives Hayley away. Maybe she actually poisons Bill at some point, but it doesn't work and Naomi calls back to this moment and how Hayley's baking was not it's usual standard and how strange she was acting.

I thought that Naomi was gonna eat something meant for Bill and miscarry. That would raise questions in Jacob to start digging and learn of a foreign substance in her system that prompts more questions

I wonder if the blood test Ashley is going to have run for Naomi might pick up on that substance (if Hayley in fact did something to the cupcake), or if the pregnancy test generally doesn't pick up on things like that?

A pregnancy test looks for a specific hormone, its not a full metabolic panel so it wouldnt pick up anything else. Now her blood might be saved and Ashley can go back and test it for other stuff

It's crazy they have me invested in Kermit Ted and Underpass June together too, two of my least tolerable characters a month ago.

Kermit Ted!  ROFL

I wonder if Chelsea filming Bill & Hayley's wedding is gonna come back to bite her in the form of an old mark or a family member of a mark coming to get revenge.

I find the twist believable for two reasons - First... when you think about it... this is not much different to what Dani was accusing her of being in the first place. A dangerous opportunist. This is that same opportunism, but this time on steroids with a dash of criminality. Second - it was obvious for a long time that something was missing in the picture of this character. Her whole initial portrait of a lost orphan was obviously a trap. There was mystery there that left the door open for this kind of twist. That I give them huge thumbs up for. Brava MVJ.

That brings me to the timeline... IMO they didn't switch anything up. I've never gotten the impression Dani was a mother figure or that Hayley was there for a decade. All I knew was that... she was Naomi's best friend who befriended the entire family... Dani encouraged her to work for Bill... And she ended up fu-king him.

Dani then felt exposed and humiliated because this time his mistress was not an unknown persona, but someone she herself took as a family friend. Someone who dined on her table.

That's just my impression. Everyone is entitled to theirs.

Your post has similar ideas to what I said in a long post
several pages back (Link to post) -- but you said it much more clearly and succinctly!   Thank you for that.    I wish I could write that clearly.

As someone who didn't care for the twist, these comments are fair. It was smart of the writers to leave it open ended in a way that gave us a certain impression but without nailing themselves to specific facts and ages that would contradict this twist.

I'm still not sold on this concept of keeping everything a secret from the audience and then having everyone find out at once. We've seen it with Leslie's parentage, Martin's secret, and Hayley's secret. I prefer the old school style where the audience is in on it like Eva's parentage. Or a mix. It's clearly a deliberate choice by the writers, which I respect. I think they want to usher in a new style so the newer viewers don't get bored, but some of them are assuming the writers are making it up randomly, which isn't the case. After the first year hopefully they settle into a rhythm of dropping more hints without making it feel like an abrupt change.

That might be a sign that he is about to appear.  @Broderick mentioned that about Alexander Cheeks right before he debut the following week as Donnell.

I love the fact that after months of us talking about Hayley and her lack of development that her reveal has us truly and enjoyably discussing her, filling up the pages. That is what soap discussion is all about. And I'm loving all the different interpretations.

Same. I've been busy the last few days and I've been enjoying reading what everyone has been thinking. It's been a minute.

Hayley was really pissed off that Bill was kissing Dani and that is driving her to be sloppy with speeding up her plan. Since she seemingly scammed other men with no competition from any other women it was a blow to her ego for her not to have all of Bill's attention and devotion.

THIS.

It was so off putting that it became pure camp to me 😂 and it’s like you know what? Dani’s crazy ass would be besties with an accent changing weirdo 😂

HAHAHA. She really would. I live for Pamela's bangs, but I'm a sucker for bangs. And high ponytails. And diva hair tosses.

People are on fire about it. She is The moment.

And here, too!! ;) I love it. She has become very 'I have to watch to see what she does next.' She was already that with the baby lie in a Kristen Dimera way for me, but I think she's hit total Secret Room scheming Kristen Dimera now for me and...baby I love it.
