Hayley is reminding me of original recipe Sam from GH. Came to town and we learned she had multiple identities bc she was marrying and scamming rich men

I repeatedly said through the months that there was a reason we kicked off this show with Hayley being slapped in front of the whole town. She was always intended to be a very crucial character... so I never understood why some minimized her significance as if she wasn't intended to be pivotal in the first place.

One day... if my instincts are correct... she will take control of this entire community. Believe me. Her journey as an opportunist is just starting. Leslie is nothing compared to Hayley. Hayley plays the long game. One day these people who refused to serve her drinks in first episodes will be at her feet. I don't know how long she will maintain it... But Bill is just a step in the ladder. The girl has bigger ambitions.

Ok, Randy and Haley giving us the lowdown, but I have to be a little picky picky. How does Randy know who Pamela is, if Dani doesn't know him.

  • Dani's continued badgering and name-calling of Ashley reeks of jealousy. Just own up to the fact that Ashley is the one that Andre is meant to be with, give Andre a divorce and/or annulment, and call it a day.
  • Judging from how Bill and Caroline are reminiscing, Dani was an attentive, supportive wife. The child bride is nothing like that.
  • So the child bride is full-out playing Bill? I kind of called it from the beginning, and it is nice [finally] seeing those layers being peeled back after playing the doting wife for so long.
  • If I were Nicole, I would slap the shït out of Katherine's bitch-ass face for speaking out of the side of her mouth in the way she did. Gross behaviour. I would be embarrassed to be her parent.
  • Not Dana showing up in her dated, ass waitress outfit. That is desperate. She needs to read the damn room: Ted(dy) does not want you or your crazy ass!
  • Mrs Shamilton? Dani has nicknames for days, I see.
  • So, the child bride runs cons on wealthy individuals, with Randy's assistance? So, is her name even Hayley? The child bride/con artist wants her payday, and she wants it now... see, Bill, this is why you should have kept it in your pants!
  • Not running a con for years, so this flat-out confirms, to me, that the child bride/con artist was never pregnant in the first place. OH SNAP! So, the nurse at the hospital was in on it? Damn... this con has been running deep since before day one.
  • Nicole, sweetie, you easily could have taken your hypocritical, annoying bitch of a daughter to your office to have this conversation. Not in the seated area by the nurse's station!
  • OH! She wants Bill Hamilton to die?!  Not the life insurance policy deal. This is giving me Snapped vibes, and I am here for it.
  • Not Caroline listing everyone who Bill has fired for telling it to him straight; whew, Bill does not play like that.
  • Dana is playing her same old tricks: not accepting when someone says "no". That is not cute, sweetie pie.
  • Not Randy setting the plan in motion to end Bill's life... just as Bill is opting to remain in his marriage to his con artist cousin.

Notes:

  • Ugh. Second day in a row with a breakdown by the writer. Scenes are so choppy when they do breakdowns, but Brown, much like Cheryl L. Davis, did his very best to turn it into gold. He is definitely one of their strongest scriptwriters, and I am so glad he (along with Davis) is sticking around for the next 200+ episodes!
  • Welcome aboard, Tracey Thomson! Lovely to have you here with us!
  • Love the use of flashbacks in Hayley/Randy explaining their con, as well as the newly shot scenes filling in some blanks. That is brilliant, brilliant work, and how you use flashbacks to piece together your story.
  • Today's episode is clearly for the naysayers/negative annoyers who think they do not plan their storylines ahead of time because the reveal came together perfectly, and the payoff was worth it. Classic soap telling.

Well there goes my theory that Hayley does love Bill, haha. Marquita is struggling a bit with all this exposition, maybe it's not entirely her fault though. It's clunky.

I respectfully disagree. The audience has been given subtle hints about Haley all along based on her actions. It's only been a matter of when everything when her secrets would be revealed.

I hear you on that, and I'm willing to give you the point on this.

I am invested in this plot and character turn, but I do have lingering questions. I just watched the first 20 minutes of today's show, and we were told that not only did Hayley never love Bill, but that he's not her first big mark and that she took "everything" from a very rich man.

OK, but weren't we also told she was best friends with Naomi and almost a part of the family? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Hayley was around those people for years.

I'm also withholding judgment on the casting of Marquita Goings as Hayley. She's not bad in any way, but I'm not sure she's the best fit for the part.

Good point. Unless she lied about her age, we were told she was 3 years older than Chelsea which would mkae her 26. How long has she been around this family to have also been scamming and marrying other men presumably since as early as 18

Marquita Goings IMO is perfection so far. She will show us more in time.

The story is kind of murky, but I do believe that Hayley has been around the family for only a few years.  She also played the poor little orphan card, which endeared her to Dani/Bill and to savior Naomi.

I remember Derek mentioning to Hayley during their one interaction that he and Ashley were just starting to get to know Hayley so that tells me that perhaps it hasn't been more than two or three years that Hayley has focusing her energy on her mark.

I also remember one scene earlier in the show's run during the wrongful termination lawsuit that Hayley knew instantly who to go to of the three and she was working her magic on her.   Had Naomi not walked in, I think Hayley would have succeeded in getting at least one of the three plantiff's to drop her portion of the lawsuit.

There have been moments that Hayley has shown that she's smarter than she's let on, and since Randy is her cousin... I'm guessing she might have some idea about what is going on with the whole Martin situation... and perhaps other situations with Joey/Vanessa, etc.

And even though she would leave the room whenever anyone came to talk to Bill, I have a feeling she was listening and/or made sure that she could hear everything she needed to hear.

Lastly, this episode highlighted the big difference between SPS and Hayley.  SPS is delusional and her plots usually like cohesive planning and are known to be impulsive (Eva has mentioned this a few time) while Hayley looks to have been playing the long game.
