I know some people think the show is boring and I get that because some shows do drag.  I think the new regime is helping the characters have more nuance and giving us genuine emotions.  It's not, well, Marlena gets kidnapped again and John has to save her and plot stunts.  Characters are describing their feelings and motivations which is a welcome, grounded change.

It's far from perfect, but I see improvement.

Does anyone think they could get Chandler back full time. Im guessing Zach Tinker has been booked and busy. It seems like Freddie Smith won't be back and I dont miss him.

Chandler would return anytime they need him, but not sure if he would stay long-term. I was hoping BTG would snatch him up since it is taped in Atlanta, where Chandler resides.

But the Marlena thread really stood out. DAYS has always used haunting, literal and metaphorical, as a way into emotional states.  Marlena being followed by her anxiety fits that tradition. What worked was the contrast: Julie and Maggie spoke openly about grief as a stage of life, about what comes next. Marlena, by contrast, said plainly she doesn’t know who she is anymore. That fracture between self and self-perception, between conscious healing and unconscious collapse, was some good stuff. It wasn’t a “give Deidre her Emmy” moment. It was something quieter and truer: a character losing herself in a space where the fantastical makes emotional sense.

And this is what's been most improved about Days since the new writers came in: character is key again, as opposed to plot.

I said it this morning, we're getting a much better understanding as to who these people are, why they do the things that they do, what they want out of life, etc., and I've been enjoying all of it. Having most of the storylines be dictated by the characters and their actions, instead of a plot point was the right decision. And definitely the change that Days need after years of some really good stuff, but that often got bogged down in plot driven nonsense that had no effect on anybody or anything.

And honestly, Deidre better get the Lead Actress Emmy next year because she deserves it. More now than she ever has, IMO.

I see what some people mean, but at the same time, I would love for them to sit down and watch an episode from the 60s or 70s, (which I'm sure so many of them want to do) just to hear them cry about how boring it is 😂

When that long promo video came out, I was sure that Thaao was playing Andre in those clips and that there had either been a switch or Tony had just been Andre all along. But now I'm not so sure. I kind of think they just decided to write Tony being more devious, and Thaao is playing the same way he played Andre from 2015-17 because he doesn't have a damn clue who Tony actually is, since they retconned half his life away and the actual Tony has done so little of consequence.

He did do some bad things when he first came on, but I think it was mostly due to him being angry that he couldn't be with Renee. And also, to please Stefano.

Renee's and Anna's love was supposed to have reformed him.

Phillip just mentioned his leg a few weeks ago.

Theo hasn't been on consistently over the years, but I feel like the show has always mentioned it.

I’m in total agreement with you. For once the show feels like a soap opera.

-- Today's episode was good, and yes, it did feel like a soap opera.

-- The song used at the end of the episode was really good, fitting the video montage really well. Y&R should take note about how to use original songs in a scene.

-- I have to give Susan Seaforth Hayes a pass for that "acting" at the end of the show. It's soap acting that's pure melodrama with operatic flourishes, right out of the 1950s. 😂

One thing I will say about the Days cast that none of other remaining vet soaps can say, is that NONE of the actors phone it in. Yes it can be campy and over the top, but the Days cast works hard all of the time.

I agree with that.

True. Most of these vets have been fired once or twice and/or the show was about to be cancelled so they work for their money lol and it's obvious most of the vets truly care about their characters and the show.
