I saw a lot of complaints about the funeral - why wasn't this person there, why weren't the flashbacks truer to Monica's character, why weren't the kids there, and so on. I can see some of the complaints, especially in the inevitable need to sanitize a character and their history or focus on the wrong element, but overall I thought they got it right. Yes it would have been nice to, as I saw suggested, have Brenda or the Wards and so on there, but that was never happening. I'm glad the kids weren't there. And some of the flashbacks were a fun surprise, especially getting to see a moment with Lucy and Monica.

People do this every memorial. It's exhausting and it's always about people the show can't do anything about. GH can't force Luke, Frisco, Robin, Brenda, Skye, Tony, Scott, or whoever onto the set if they don't want to come. A lot of fans need to accept we're not going to see some of those people again until the show ends (and probably not even then for some of them). I saw people mad about no ghost Emily. That was fine by me because it would have been Natalia Livingston and I'd rather keep the Amber flashbacks we got than have to deal with NL's ghost version. I guess I wish they'd had Mac, Anna, and Lois at there but that's just a small gripe. The flashback choices were wonderful. The Lucy, Laura, and Felicia ones were unexpected and great.

That's right - Skye and Robin were the two I kept reading about. Robin I get (although it's clear Kimberly is not returning aside from, maybe, Tristan's memorial), but even with the Alan tie, I don't know if Monica and Skye had a close enough relationship when Skye has been so forgotten by the show.

Mac or Anna being there would have been nice. At least Lois got that moment with Brook Lynn.

I would have been shocked if they had gotten Kimberly to do both Monica and Robert's funerals. I assume she is a given for Robert and they've decided to hold her back for that. I'd be shocked if you could keep her away, but then I fully expected Tony back for Jackie in some way and that didn't happen (though he did give a lovely statement to the press and he may or may not be in poor health).

I do think Kimberly will appear for Tristan, and I also think they will honor Denise and Lesley in some way. It would be OOC for Frank's GH not to given they did special episodes for everyone from Lee and Gail to Sean Donely.

I have zero interest in Skye being lashed to the Quartermaines further or treated as a member of the family. She wasn't and she never will be. I would be fine with Skye making guest appearances to stir up trouble or bringing on her daughter by Alcazar, but these people who keep pretending she was a Q are fooling themselves.

It's crazy because they act like we see Robin so regularly and like it was some big snub. I can't even remember the last time she appeared- when Epiphany died maybe? We went through all this when Bobbie died too. I'm sure they'll work something out though for when they do a memorial for Tristan.

It's been a few years. She wasn't there for Epiphany, but Kimberly has appeared fairly frequently in the last decade. I think her last was John Reilly's death and the Sean special episode. I am sure she will turn up for Scorpio.

Robin and Skye I suppose I get.  But Brenda?  She wasn't even close to Monica.  Sonny "died" before Nixon Falls, Jason 'died', Lila died, Edward died, even Robin briefly died and she didn't come back.  I don't recall Monica/Brenda or Monica/Skye being close ever.   Monica disliked Skye and Brenda was always a Lila/Edward project more than an Alan/Monica thing.

Frisco didn't make it to his own daughter's funeral.

It would be much more poignant for a non-dead AJ or Emily (AT's version) popping up mysteriously at her funeral promising more story than a bunch of popular characters coming back to wax poetically about Monica.

And I obviously say this as someone who would die and gush over Brenda or Robin returning.

I guess we can talk now about the rumor that was going around for a week or two that Sean Kanan was going to appear somehow as A.J. I didn't buy it, but I didn't want to speak on it in public and get people's hopes up. It would've been nice but here we are.

Both @carolineg and I, I think, wanted them to have A.J. pop up secretly alive as opposed to a ghost, a la Brenda's brief cameo in 2000. You could just see him lurking in the crypt or something. It seeds future story for a later return and would be a nice valentine to the fans. Oh well.

I'm sure they'll do something for Lesley, probably more in line with what they did for Lee and Gail than the others, but definitely something. Felt like Laura mentioning her the other day was a set up for that in the future. They've gotten to the point- and it's totally welcome- where they address the deaths of anyone who was a fairly big part of the show. Other than Lesley and Robert, there are a few others I'm sure they'd address if/when those happen.

I love Skye and think some appearances to show up and snipe at Tracy or to drop off Lila Rae would be fun. She's not a Quartermaine however and it's not like she's some glaring omission during these things. Anyway, I don't really know what the point would be since she belongs to such a different era for the show. There's no Luke, Alan, Monica, Edward, or AJ for her to visit and Jason and Tracy don't give two [!@#$%^&*] about her. I guess she could say hey to Ned? lol.

You could even do it without either Sean Kanan or Amber.  You could just show a character leaving flowers for Monica and heavily imply it's one of the two that are alive.

Obviously, the brief glimpse of Sean would be the most dramatic.

I don't feel the need for everyone that once broke bread and had some chats with Monica in 2002 to come back because they are popular characters.  The fact is most of the people closest to Monica are dead whether on screen or in real life.  We also don't need a bunch of kid actors at a funeral.   I see the idea, but it's uncomfortable to film and it's not like these kids are great actors and would bring something to the table.

I saw someone saying Brenda was like a daughter to Monica. Others are more fully versed on Brenda's history than I am so I just figured, sure.

That would have been a nice touch.

I don't even know if we got any flashbacks of AJ. I guess that is always going to be a sore subject after the horrible way he was treated under Frank (not even counting pre-Frank).

I don’t remember that at all. She was close with AJ and Jason, Ned, and Edward and Lila. I don’t remember her having much to do with Alan or Monica. She was closer to Ruby than Alan or Monica!

I didn't remember them being too close either but I thought I may have missed something early on. Either that or Monica was counted because by the end I think the only characters in all of Port Charles who ever had a bad word to say about Brenda were Carly and Skye.

No.  Whoever said that is either trying to make more of their relationship or is mistaken lol.  I remember Monica being quite thrilled when Jason and Brenda got "married" in 2002, so that may have created the impression they were closer than they were.

Can you even think of a memorable Monica/Brenda scene?  I am sure they had one on one scenes at some point, but I can only recall them interacting in group settings or in the Q living room with others around.

I was watching a YouTube video about Monica and her sons. I had no idea Monica did not want toddler Jason anywhere near AJ.  She was pretty mean. As the clips progressed suddenly, she was loving in Jason, but it was skipped on how that happened.  Can someone enlighten me.

Also, AJ and Jason were fighting over Michael. Monica was saying get a blood test. Did Carly let Jason think Michael was his?

Lastly, Sean Kanan and Billy Warlock both seemed good as AJ, but Billy Warlock seemed to me like he brought fire to the role. Am I right or wrong.

No.  Jason (and Robin) were both aware Michael was AJ's.  Jason/Carly let everyone else think Jason was the father.  Robin ended up telling AJ later on and that ended Jason/Robin.

I vastly prefer SK's AJ.  BW is capable, but he was miscast, IMO.
