Jason was never really my problem when Sonny/Carly/Jason dominated the show. When the show paired him with Sam, KM’s choices in acting and Steve’s Jason growing increasingly more stoic did not work for me. It’s why Burton was great in scenes with Brenda, Sarah’s Carly, Spinelli, Maxie, etc, because the Stone Cold nickname works there.

Even Guza was starting to show how much total loyalty to Sonny had cost everybody in his circle when Michael killed Claudia and went to jail for it. In the past, they would have written Dante as the heavy against the family. And while there were scenes of that, Dante was Guza’s new favorite, so the criticism of Sonny actually landed and Dante wasn’t vilified.

Burton did himself no favors by being clearly checked out at times. But I don’t recall him ever phoning it in when the scenes called for emotion. Jason more in the Q orbit has been good for the character.

LOL!!! I finally got to her first appearance and so far...I feel she's an upgrade and was dreading her saying Papa. So great to hear.

And YES she really does favor Scarlett Johannsen.

If there has to be a Charlotte in existence I do like this actress much better.

With Lulu I think it's somewhat deliberate tbh, because FV wants the focus on the BLQ end of the story. With Britt I think they all think it's a fun feature and not a bug, lol.

If they try to sell RP playing a villain it's just going to be laughable.

Agreed.  The writing with Lulu is slanted against her.  GH thinks Britt being "britch" is hilarious.

If they try to sell RP as anything other than a walking mannequin it will be laughable.  At least he's good looking.

I don't even know what Liz and Lucas have against Britt, so I am just going to assume it's valid and that I don't care.

Oh Steve broke me when he said he wished he had the memories of growing up with Monica as his mom. I don’t think we’ve ever had this level of growth from Jason so quickly before. Steve and Jane were so good today.

Britt didn’t come back likeable at all. I’m happy everyone at the hospital were treating her like sh.it. She really just came back thinking oh I faked my death, no big deal. Can someone explain why she was apparently still working as an OBGYN after stealing and giving birth to one of her patient’s embryos? Like why didn’t Portia and the other COS staff even bring that up.

Jason refusing to do Sonny's bidding over Tracy and Monica a few months ago re: the kids was a huge deal for me. I haven't seen him move like that since the late 2000s, as @titan1978 noted, when Guza began to sour on Jason.

Reminds me of this tidbit from awhile ago, but it's a topic for the classic thread at this point. I know caroline and I batted it around a bit.

Oh gosh someone just put the terrible thought in my mind that these dumb ass writers might actually have Sonny be at Monica’s funeral. This is the same team that had him at a dedication for her at the hospital.

It's inevitable. Sonny is not seen as any pariah or corrupt figure. He's seen by many characters and viewers as an icon.

Just the idea that the man who murdered her son in cold blood coming to her funeral makes my skin crawl.

Just echoing what everyone has said about how great the Tracy/Jason scenes were today. It's pretty rare that the show delves into the traumatic implications of Jason's brain injury, so I loved how he acknowledged the loss of those precious memories growing up with Monica as his mom.

I also want to give the writing team credit for making a very unusual choice. Typically after a major character dies, the next episode is spent with the whole town learning about the death and reacting in various ways. I'm sure we'll still get some episodes like that, but they smartly used this episode to focus on the grief of the two people who were closest to Monica.

Wild that they have Jason in the preview telling Michael one of his biggest regrets is keeping him from the Quartermaines.

I think he's voiced that sentiment before but it's been a while, I can't remember the details. I know he openly told Carly they screwed up with their choice for Michael around the time of the Claudia mess. I vaguely remember him 'apologizing' to A.J. on his 'deathbed' or something in the 2000s, but that was cold comfort at the time.
