Should’ve been a week of episodes recapping the first few months of the show (I think Sunset Beach did this at one point? Not that it turned out great for them but I like the idea). I would’ve checked that out, could’ve helped me understand what characters/stories truly matter to the overall narrative.

@Errol, to you know if CBS remembered to tell CHCH.com ?

I learned recently that W.Network in Canada gets batches of DAYS episodes early, ready to queue up to broadcast on the designated date.   And possibly same situation with CTV for B&B.

That's why I'm wondering about CHCH.com

We'll find out on Monday. If they did, I'd be surprised. This sounds like a real last-minute decision on the network's part. I know they aren't too pleased with the lack of growth in the viewership numbers despite the steady demos.

Yeah, I watch daily but I miss stuff . The writing can be subtle, in a good way, and I only know later because I read it on here. Like Leslie mentioning brownies to Martin before her big speech or the Hayley pregnancy details from the hospital. I'd be curious to revisit some details like the crooked cops to see how the details from earlier fit in now.

Unless we hear otherwise, I'm just assuming this is to save money by not paying to produce shows to air during slow holiday weeks, which doesn't bode well for late summer, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. CBS has skin in the game on the production here. It's really not a good precedent at all.

As of this week, the show is roughly 90 episodes ahead when it comes to tape-to-air, so this is not a cost-saving measure. If anything, they would have retooled or adjusted long ago if that were the case. Additionally, unless we hear of some sort of abnormal production shutdown in the near future, there are currently no signs of any changes taking place behind the scenes outside of what is already known, particularly storyline and casting-related.

While I do have some worries about the show, they aren't based on what has been discussed in other comments throughout the thread, per se.

Forgot to add, storyline-wise, the show will acknowledge all the major holidays coming up like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. I would imagine the scheduling change could change when those episodes air, though.

Not Independence Day though! 🤣

I had been looking forward to BTG acknowledging Juneteenth, but they didn't.

We'll find out on July 7th, I guess. LMAO.

Right. I did find that a little odd, considering how even DAYS has honored the day in past years, particularly under Ron Carlivati as head writer. Maybe next year?

I was actually kind of shocked there was no mention of Juneteenth. Maybe next year.

The Richardson Family BBQ had to be canceled this year because Ted was in the dog house and Andre was too busy chasing tail.

But yep, I thought we would at least get a mention or something.

What would you like to see on their social media?

For me personally, much like the other soaps, I'd like them to get better at regularly posting key clips on their social media. I'm not saying they don't do it at all, but it's often just random clips and not the highlights that go viral on social media.

Just thought I'd also place this here:

This is why the modern age of social media, etc., is dangerous because everyone runs rampant with ideas as to why something is being done. "Oh, it's because of budget," "Oh, it's getting canceled," "Oh, that show is sucking," etc. It's a cesspool of false information being placed out there.

Exactly.

While the show will undergo a budget reduction for Season 2, as is customary for a show that just launched, it isn't for the reasons people are running rampant about.

The first season budget for any show does the heavy lifting in establishing a show's sets, cast, crew, equipment, and all other production-related costs. Season 2 will streamline things going forward. Further, CBS would not air repeats for an entire week due to budget constraints for any show that already has nearly 90 unaired episodes in the can. As I said elsewhere (in another thread), they would have course corrected long ago if there was a budgetary issue.

There are several reasons CBS is/could be doing this, and only one or more of them are valid. No one will state the reason on the record, however:

  • Make goods to advertisers (show underperformed in demos based on what the network promised).
  • Like the above, the total viewership is nowhere near what CBS had hoped.
  • CBS is looking to get viewers to sample the show during a holiday week when many are on vacation.
  • The network is looking to run a new ad blitz under the "CBS Soapy Summer" banner.

(I'm not confirming any of the above as true, yet)

I only know about the reruns from ya'll posting in this forum and had I not been here, Id be confused as heck looking for the show next week. Have they dont anything to clue in regular viewers? I think that preview at the end of Friday should have mentioned this

It was a very last-minute decision on the network's part. No one at Beyond the Gates knew about it.
