Another week in the maze....

Do we know how long this will last? This might even be worse than the constant rotation of crimson lights, to society, to GCAC.

Monday July 28 US (Friday July 25 Canada)

Sally puts on hiking wardrobe and hikes down the mountain just far enough to check on the conditions of the roads/tracks/etc. She returns to say the train tracks have been repaired for two days and the workmen were busy removing their repair equipment.

Meanwhile:
Carter grabs Lily and holds her at gunpoint.
Cane convinces Carter to aim the gun at Cane instead of at Lily.
Carter is about to shoot Cane, and Chance tries to save Cane.
Carter shoots Chance during the struggle.
Carter runs off. Chance dies.
Carter shoots himself offscreen and dies.

Meanwhile, Amanda disables the signal jammer and all the phones start working.  She calls the police.
Victor phones Adam to ask him to send a helicopter.

(A lot more happened (a lot!) with various characters, but I'm not up to posting it all)

Horrible mistake to kill off a legacy character.

Yeah, I know Conner Floyd is going to DAYS. That is no reason to kill off Chance. Besides, maybe CF looked for another gig when he found out asswipe Josh Griffith was killing off Chance.

This show is a mess.

Lol so you kill off a character with loads of potential that you just brought onto the show. Then you kill a legacy character whose family goes back to the very beginning of the show. JG is a f.ucking hack.

It is beyond idiotic for Y&R to kill off Chance, one of the very few Chancellor's left and Cane doesn't count as one.

JG is horrible and I can't say that enough. I have really tried to give him the benefit of the doubt for years but no more. He needs to go.

Heather, Cole, Damian, Chance all dead.

Will we ever see Nina again?

I wonder if Cane will get a home set when he returns to GC.Or is he forever destined to wander through the GCAC,CL, Society and the Jazz Club?

The worst thing is the ratings are maintaining, so JG looks like he's staying.

I wonder what the actors really feel about the state of the show?

I just have to imagine the people still watching daily really don’t care how bad it is, they’re just so programmed to stick it through no matter what. I wish they wouldn’t. I would love to see what a good writer could do with the show. I’m sure the vets don’t care and are just happy to get steady paychecks for the 30-40 years and STILL be front burner. Younger characters be damned.

I didn't mention it but there was a long sequence in which Carter told Cane that he'd killed Damian to help Cane get Lily, and it was long and detailed about how he plotted it and executed his plan.    When Carter realized that Cane was angry instead of happy about what Carter had done, then Carter was outraged and wanted Lily to suffer.  This went on for most of the episode but MEANWHILE . . .

I was too angry to mention that amidst everything happening in the Friday CDN/Monday US episode with Carter and Chance dying and the traintracks and phones working again ...
there were *still* discussions amongst characters about who would take over which corporation!

Amanda had a contract written up for Nikki to sign over control of Chancellor from Nikki to Chance, which Nikki was about to sign if Amanda would guarantee they release Nick from captivity.  The only reason Nikki didn't sign was that she learned that Nick had escaped.

Billy did try to talk Carter out of holding Lily/Cane at gunpoint. But then at the end, after Billy saw Chance die, Billy was still angling for control of Chancellor and wanting to negotiate a deal with Chance.    After seeing the bodies, Phyllis, too, was still angling for control of anything.

The characters of Billy and Phyllis have long been ruined.  This made it even worse.

The character of Amanda was ruined here.  Mishael Morgan can act wonderfully with any script but. . .  Amanda helping Cane with all of this nonsense was horrid, including knowing about the phone signal jammer, and knowing where Nick was being held captive, etc.  Even though Amanda is Cane's paid attorney and is paid to stand by him, this was mobster-type lawyering.

At the end, Cane was still trying to court Lily -- and she was having NONE of this, as he was responsible for the deaths because he engineered the entire situation.  He wistfully told Amanda that he hadn't given up on Lily.

The *SIDE PLOT* was that Sharon was caring for the injured Nick in the traincar, (Nick was injured in a prior episode while escaping from captivity) -- Sharon was caring for the injured Nick in the traincar while Sally went to check on the traintrack status.
Nick and Sharon kissed briefly.

I guess JG threw in one second of a Shick kiss -- with thoughts that people would want to watch the other 35 minutes of the horrors of this episode.  NOPE NOPE NOPE.
I'm not a Shick fan.
But do understand and respect that there are many Shick fans out there, so if you are a Shick fan, just find a gif of the kiss and skip the rest of the episode.
Nick was delirious from pain, so Josh Griffith might write the characters to be dismissive of the kiss later on.

At the end, the sound of a helicopter arriving could be heard, as the Newmans prepared to bring Nick to a hospital.

Elsewhere online, I saw snarky/angry predictions that maybe Cricket will facetime the news of Chance's death to Nina, and Billy will facetime the news of Chance's death to Jill, and maybe we won't see either facetime, it will be offscreen and simply mentioned that it happened.
And something similar with Nate and Amy regarding Damian's death.
All of this was commented as snark and not intended to be a spoiler.
But the replies were yeah that's likely.

All this drama about Chancellor Industries - a company that was never shown during the prime Katherine years. I mean who even worked there? I just remember Katherine occasionally claiming she stopped by CI, but it was more of a line to explain Katherine's wealth than a real place.

CI was Jill's ultimate win when you think about her story, but Jill is gone and sold the company.

Chance was the only *tangible* connection to CI on canvas, which has been driving this whole Dumas/Cane mess.

I took 4 years off, but returned when Sharon was acting weird - right before Heather's death. Once that was resolved, I've kinda been streaming out of habit - though I did like the unexpected Nate/Amy/Audra family dynamic.

This illogical death gives me a reason to stop again.
