I agree with you and everyone else that Rory's been great.

I also thought Chad was an excellent Michael when he started, so I hope Rory can keep it up.

Chad had a few major things going against him: difficult writing choices that played against his strengths, lack of chemistry with his love interests, and a general sense of boredom toward the end.   Most of that's on Chad.  I just hope the show doesn't box Rory's Michael into the same old stories Chad's Michael used to get.

Chad Duell's strength was during his first storylines, and when Michael fully embodied becoming a Quartermaine⏤which is somewhat what I am sensing right now with this current storyline for Rory Gibson. Having seen Duell in The Bay, it's clear the writing was never behind him as Michael throughout multiple regimes. On top of that, continued missed pairings or bad pairings also did not help him at all.

I have to agree with this. I never said "Get Chad Duell off this show" to myself, but the quick and overwhelming acceptance of Rory Gibson says it all.

Even when the writing choices played against Chad's strengths, the writing itself was still decent -- the polar opposite of the writing Rory got at Y&R. In the past few years, Chad walked through scene after scene, doing the very minimum. He did seem bored, so yeah, that's on Chad.

I'll save some of the blame for Frank and others in production who apparently never called out Duell on his "boredom." Are these actors ever given notes?

It’s crazy, I never had a problem with Chad as Michael, but Rory really feels like he’s been playing Michael for years.

I haven't had a problem with Chad either. If anything has worked against him, it's been the writing. But he has been checked out for a while also...and that was made obvious every time Robert Adamson subbed in.

He really has so far. He seems to have chemistry with EVERYONE. I'm kinda wanting a relationship with him and Sasha *runs*

Same.

I'm worried about where the writing will go long-term for Rory's version of Michael because so far his Michael (from where I'm viewing) gives the darker Michael I've wanted to see. And I like he has softer moments as well. And Rory is balancing that very well. And of course, I thought he was hot on Y&R so this is the case where Frank someone and I have taste enough to use it.

Which reminds...I am happy I'm back in time for Pool Set Season. 😜

Agreed.  Duell is quite capable as an actor and has been on GH several times.

Chad is absolutely not blameless yet it does seem like he knew when to call it.  He wasn't getting great material for his style, he wasn't challenged, and he had his own stuff going on.  Can't fault him for that.

It's almost makes me feel bad that Duell didn't get the writing Rory has gotten so far.  I do like the idea of resetting Michael and I think it's been long overdue.

Mm-hmm; it's just a shame he was not given the proper material more.

I agree with all of this! And again, with Michael off-canvas, it would have been the best time to reintroduce Dillon Quartermaine.

I've said it before but Chad was very strong in his early years, particularly when the Guza daily team was still in place. Even in his first five years he was, I felt, underrated. He got bored and tired (like most vets on the show, especially men who were really not written for outside of Sonny or Frank's favorites) and it showed. He should've left years ago if he wanted to break out, but I am glad he left for the sake of the character. I also think that if Chad hadn't indicated he wanted to stay away longer than a few months FV would've foolishly held the role open out of the same kind of loyalty that drives other behavior.

If I recall it wasn't logistically even possible that Luke/Holly snuck off for an affair due to what we had been told about the things that happened previously with both characters.

I am not exactly sure what Geary saw in Parsons.  He's not anything like JJ.  He's goofier and dopier and the show did nothing with Parsons except give him a dead-end romance with Mya and tease him with teenage Kristina.  Johnny/Ethan's bromance was probably the best thing about the whole run.  I really didn't dislike Ethan and thought a Kristina/Ethan romance with a very slow build up would have possibly worked ala Jason/Robin.  It was a whole lotta effort for a mostly forgotten character though.

I have a good idea what he saw

Umm...okay.  Please don't quote unless you have something interesting to say like everyone else above.

Nope.  Just asking you not to reply to me in a respectful manner.  Thanks 🙂

I also had to dig deep not to grammar police this statement on your behalf, but ignore is there for a reason!!

A Curtis/Portia/Isaiah/Jordan quad might be the shot in the arm that all four of them need right now.

Isaiah did look hot too 😍😂😂

Tracy/JE killed it again, and she has me really looking forward to her scenes tomorrow. And it’s still a little funny to me how I can always take Tracy’s side against Drew, but when it’s Drew against the golden trio and their douchy kids, I find myself taking Drew’s side
