Bill is super annoying. He had no reason to go to the Duprees house other than to try to stay connected to them.

At first I thought Kat was going to play only part of that recording so it would be easier to implicate just Eva.

That Cody guy seems like he might end up being a stalker.

Still adjusting to this recast and I'm already seeing the character's aesthetic has changed. At one point it seemed like Robinson tried to make his voice sound deeper and it seems like Tricia Mann-Grant slightly dialed her performance style to fit with his less imposing presence. Reminds of how the character of Lionel Jefferson changed when he was recast with Damon Evans after Mike Evans left.

Cody could have been Derek. He shows a lot more emotion in the scenes he gets than Gavin ever has.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him again.

I understand. BUT...a start.

@P.J. No, you are not alone in this. I agree, the writers have overused "I'm a Dupree." I get it, but if they could pace themselves and use the term at more pivotal moments, I believe it would have more impact. Right now, they turn me off. A part of it is that they went the opposite way I felt they should have with the core four, Anita should be our favorite character, and I am sorry she is at the bottom of my list. Why do I care more for Nicole, the daughter who has everything, over Dani, the underdog? Like I said, it's an odd setup that I am getting used to.

I look forward to the in-laws interacting more and bonding away from the Duprees. I already root for Bill and Bradley, I see myself warming up to New Ted soon.

I like Nicole the most, because she's the only normal person, even if she slides into psych-analyzing speak. I like Anita--but I suspect that's more about my attachment to Tamara Tunie. I'm on the fence about Dani--but I don't see her as the underdog vs. Nicole. Dani had her a fabulous life. Nicole might not have lived in her sister's shadow, but it seems like Dani gets the attention in the family.

A random thought - June is related to Hayley AND Tyrell and Samantha. Hayley and June are sisters separated when young. Years later June's children Ty and Sam end up being adopted into the Dupree family, coincidentally giving Hayley a further link to that family.

Bill/Smitty have chemistry.. shame they don't play for the same team. The messiness if they did.

Kat proves one doesn't need a romantic nor sexual partner to have an active role in a storyline. Though I hope Eva/Tomas/Kat is revisted soon.

>>><<< Great minds!

Kat certainly does prove that point. She's been given a lot to work with, so we shouldn't be bored of her anytime soon. I am interested in all her storylines at the moment, and curious how the show will use the affair to impact her romances and business stories.

Catching up with the episode now.

Is it me or did the addition of the new Ted in the opening titles come with a slight remix of the theme tune?

I noticed it too. The first couple of seconds of the song were slightly different.

OMG! Great call, precisely the same situation.

I got the feeling she's always been slightly too flirty with him? But this brings up a comment I've had whenever I see Vanessa with these weird men (or was this one we've seen before) who she has role play sex hijinks with... They always just come off as plain bizarre. This guy followed her in the middle of the day to a cafe? The dialogue always seems like they want to push the boundaries too with what they can say but then just comes off as incredibly weird (something about what she did with her foot?)

Vanessa was flirty with Smitty, and it was weird. Smitty didn't think anything about it was cute or fun. The sex talk between Cody and Vanessa at Orphey Gene's? Also weird af. We needed either a longer scene or another scene to make any of that work. Vanessa is coming off like a nymphomaniac.

And oh yes, let's go to an underground/backroom casino to try to raise money for our new upstart agency?

Forced for plot convenience, just as it was when we saw Eva (HUH???) in that casino backroom. Sorry, none of this casino stuff works.

I hate to say it, and I didn't catch the writers for this episode, but I felt this was another episode like some past ones where the dialogue throughout sounded off and not natural--and too filled with references and metaphors that maybe looked nice on paper but not so much when people say them.

I thought the same thing -- I enjoyed all the different character groupings, but the dialogue was not natural and didn't flow.

(Oh and random--why cast a day actor as a surgeon for a tiny scene and then reveal in the next hospital scene that he can't do it because of a family emergency? Just... kinda weird.)

Yep, kinda weird. I don't get it. Of course, I also don't get the discussion of not having Doug as the surgeon. Is he the only doctor anyone trusts? Then we have June's entire heart procedure talked about, performed, and over within 20 minutes of screen time.

-- Cady McClain gives us a different variation of that accent every time she appears. The dialogue between Pamela and Dani is too cute by half.

-- BTG, please stop mentioning Martin's run for the presidency.

-- I hope we're not going to see Ted soften towards Dana and be taken in by her line of bull. She just blew up his life, and I don't want to see him sympathize with her in any way.

It wasn't his first appearance, though; per the end credits, he is a principal guest star (a.k.a. recurring).

The casino set needs to be upgraded or needs to go. Why would anyone rich spend their time in the wood paneled 1960’s room instead of just playing cards in what I assume is the normal nice looking casino area.

I like Nicole for several reasons, she has all the good attributes and qualities of a good person. You have to be a huge hater to dislike someone like her.

I consider Dani an underdog. She had a lot to live up to and she hasn't contributed to the family name imo. Naomi and Martin seem to had more flourishing careers than she has. She might've had a long marriage, but Bill cheated on her left and right. I am sure they had some good times, but I wouldn't call it a great marriage or anything to brag about.

She modeled for what 2/3 years? That's not that successful, especially if she didn't pivot to something more lucrative. And that is the real reason she plays momanger cause she is living through Chelsea. Dani is nothing without her family name. Nicole doesn't need the Dupree; she made her own mark! And that's what you should do when you're born with privilege, flip that [!@#$%^&*]!

The opportunity is there for the writers to play up her insecurities and resentment issues, but will they? There must've been a reason for her to choose Bill over someone with more status, or coming from another wealthy family. Right?

I don't expect everyone to understand her, but I do, and probably would've made her a more screw up and didn't amount to much outside having some kids.

I view the Duprees as being very insecure and paranoid about losing their status so they proclaim 'I'm a Dupree' just as much for themselves as their enemies. I swear Nicole is the Marilyn Munster of the Duprees.

And the lack of in-law interactions on the show has always baffled me. When my parents were alive and we would visit family... my mom had close ties with both of her sister in laws (i.e. she and two other women were all married to brothers) and my dad got along well with his brother in law (Both of them were married to sisters).

So I'm glad that we're starting to get some in law interactions because those relationships are just as valuable as the ones amongst the actual family members. Jacob/Smitty/Bill/Ted should all have some history/interactions with one another... though I admit I wish there was a hetero Dupree male because than we could have a daughter/sister in law that might not gel/get along with the other Dupree women and is closer to the Dupree men/male in laws.

The lack of crossover from the in-laws always bothered me, too. I hope at some point we get some family dinners. I know it's not earth-shattering entertainment, but I'm a sucker for those scenes. And you can still move the story along, too!

I forgot all about my boo Jacob, and he was on today. He, for some reason, reminds me of Garfield the cat! 🤣😂

You're right about that hetero bio son Dupree, though.

See, I imagine it as some kind of "private" room within a bigger casino.

Wait.....Anita is an EGOT, Vernon was an important Senator, and Dani was an international model (no matter how brief, although I thought she said she was on par with Tyra Banks(or someone)...meanwhile, Nicole's some nice psychologist/psychiatrist with an award on her wall...but Dani's hasn't added to the Dupree mystique?

I don't think the writers considered ever having any Dupree be less than utterly fabulously successful and that's actually flaw in the structure of the show.

Oh, I forgot to say...Smitty acts like she stumbled into Vanessa's Only Fans account and paid for a picture of her dirty undies before realizing it was her.

You're right about everything! The casino needs to go and it's ugly!

The ugliest set on BTG.
