Very good point!

Thank you.

And above all, it's conflict, which is what soap opera is. Not characters just being annoying because a writer rushes through story for them. 😂

Exactly.

And it's not like Stephanie didn't live a life when Hennig played her.  There are so many stories and relationships you can mine from her past.  And we just got......a book and sex with Alex or the random Bobby backstory which no one needed 😂

I trust new writing can get the character back on track.  Like I said, I do think Abigail Klein has charisma.

I guess neither Stephanie or Leo are ever going to investigate the gaping plot holes in the Bob-ette storyline.

Other random Thoughts for Thu

  1. If Sophia was going to leave Tate alone after he was faint and had a fever, thank goodness she's not planning on raising a baby!
  2. Finally, Xander expressed that this situation with Philip was not Victor's desire.  Victor clearly wrote his desires in his will right before he died, and those plans did not include Philip at Titan.
  3. I can't with the laws of Salem.  Adults with nut allergies can sue for negligence when they eat a bakery known for using pistachio in their scones, but people discuss insider trading and kidnapping like it is no big deal. It is so simple to research why they have no standing to sue to Sweet Bits (regardless of what the server said).
  4. I ignored Brady and Kate being on the board, because that was plausible.  But, Abe is on the board of directors?  That's a stretch.
  5. I'm staying mum on Versavix for today, I've had my say....

I am fine with no one mentioning Bob-ette again.  It's frustrating not ever knowing what was up with him truly or why we wasted so much time on that to never get a conclusion.  I am willing to forget it though.

Abe being on the board makes more sense to me because of Lexie and Theo.  I think there was a wing dedicated to Autism research or treatment years ago possibly named after Theo and Lexie was the chief of staff at some points and worked there for years.  I could see Abe having interest in the hospital still.

Ya see..., that's why I can't watch this show on my own! 😉

I'm ripping it for being dumb, meanwhile half the episode goes over my head.  Hello pot, I'm kettle.

July 2012, Abe organized a gala that was an autism fundraiser in Lexie's honor.
This was the huge event everyone was attending (except Gabi and Melanie in the tunnels)..

Probably.

Stephanie is still so underdeveloped as a character to me.  She jumps from romance to romance and I feel like she takes on the persona and interests of the man she is with at the moment.  I don't really know her interests or personality.  And Stephanie certainly gets enough airtime to explore more than sex with Alex.

I know she was interacting with Kayla today, but a lot of the dialogue was "Alex asked", "Alex thinks..", "Alex is now free so I have to go" lol.  What do you think about anything, Stephanie?

I was looking at some scenes on YT of Shelley's take on Stephanie.. and her 2007/2008 take on Stephanie was very spirited, bold, and confident.   I often think her ordeal in 2009 when she was kidnapped and kept in the morgue by that creepy guy probably did change her.. but I don't recall the show ever focusing on the after effects of such a traumatic event.

In fact... her novel/manuscript should have been loosely based on that trauma in a fictionized account.  Maybe the rest of the manuscript will involve some of that.. but I doubt Ron C would ever think to include that event in a constructive way to explain the current behaviors/motivations of Stephanie.

I LOVED Hennig’s Stephanie. AK is Stephanie in name only. Stephanie was never boring to me.

Not much happened today.

But @brisbydog, all of our wish came true: no Leo this week 😂😂😂😂

I guess Susan was necessary today, but I really wish she’d leave. Marlena putting EJ on blast about Belle was pretty good though, and I hope they continue to use Marlena in their storyline. I’m interested in seeing what happens to EJelle in the aftermath of the John storyline. And I really wish we were seeing Paul and Andrew moving in on John’s location. If they can’t get Christopher Sean on the show, they should at least try to get Colton Little.

I liked how smart Xander was today and that he immediately that Philip stole the drug. He did a pretty good job in his scenes where he confronted Philip as well. I also appreciate the way that Philip’s been written lately; more like a tragic hero than a bratty, goofy clown. Which is all the more reason that I hope the triangle with Stephanie and Alex is revived. But Xander did seem a little overly melodramatic in his last scene though 😂

And, I can’t help but think that Dr. Russell being so hesitant about involving the police in the drug theft could be a sign of something.

I think Steve and Shawn track down Kevin and Jeffrey gives them one dose on the sly in exchange for keeping it quiet.

John's organs will go to Bo. We know he's not really coming home.

Xander won't make the board meeting so EJ will get the hospital by default.

And Kate will tell Xander that Sarah lied to him precisely because she feared he would do something like this to Philip

Those are my Friday predictions! Was a good show. I felt Philip's fear in that last scene.

Off of the Xander/Paulina scenes in Thursday's episode, I really hope that means we're getting Theo coming home permanently. I didn't really see much of Cameron Johnson in the role, and though he was pretty and I'm thankful for his occasional thirst traps on Insta, Kyler Pettis could not act, so a brand new recast would be fine by me, but if you all think Cameron doesn't a real shot, I'd be fine with that, too. I just want Theo to be taken seriously as a character for once and make his place on this show like he deserves.

I was annoyed the second Susan showed up again, but I do admit it was interesting to see her reunite with Marlena and see their dynamic when EJ joined them. Hopefully now we're done with her forever. As for John, this last bit of hope Marlena is getting before the inevitable is already so devastating. This is going to be so hard to watch.

Xander reminding the audience he IS a cold blooded murderer, point blank. Paul Telfer was devilishly terrifying. Taking off his jacket was such a sexy power move. That Philip doesn't have a permanent dent in his face will be a miracle. It'll be interesting if it'll just be the one punch or if next week will see Philip more battered and bruised. How bad are they going to make Xander look? I will say, the best part of this story is that I'm not rooting for one over the other. How Philip reacts to this violence will be interesting.

I also liked how everything with stealing the drug ended up. Very messy. Steve even made me laugh at one point, and I've been indifferent to him for years. I hope poor Kevin doesn't get scapegoated, but it'll be nice to see him presumably reunite with Shawn next. We'll be really lucky if Belle somehow crosses paths with him, too.

To their credit, the new writers are clever enough to stick to current events from the time they were writing, versus trying to predict current events at the time the episode airs.  Case in point, Susan and questionable choice to hop on a cruise two days after her son was shot, and the case remains unsolved, so her remains at risk...

image.png

Although cruises around the world are not uncommon for Salem citizens like Julie, it seemed like the type of reference DOOL continues to like dropping into scripts for humor.

Also, help me understand the Marlena and EJ interaction.  Didn't they come to a mutual détente earlier in the week?  I felt gaslighted, but I could've just as easily misunderstood Marlena's earlier talk to Belle, and then EJ.

And is Bo in Boston (near Ceara) or Greece (where he was transferred after he was shot)?  I bet it is expensive to fly a coma patient transatlantically!

I assume in name only?  One Stormy Night wasn't exactly steamy.  If it's a literal throwback then Stephanie's writing about sexy times her own Uncle was having lol.

Since I am going to surmise it's just a throwback to the name, Night Sins and Winter Heat both sound sexier.  Just saying.  I swear Jamey (and Ron) just google things and land on the first thing they like and decide it's a good throwback to history without watching it.

I thought it might be either a Victor or Dimera thing.  Both seem plausible.  I just don't know why Kate would care about the hospital much lol.  It would obviously be a conflict of interest for her to vote either way, but so would Brady's vote.

I am overthinking it lol.

I figured because Kate received her cancer treatment at the hospital that she decided to “give back” by being on the board.

Great thought.  I mostly forgot about Kate's cancer.
