This where a connection with Anita or Vernon could be interesting. They know what Bill is like and have some sympathy for Hayley, who they seemed to have liked before it all blew up.

Bill would be pissed that a Dupree is buddying up to his wife and Hayley, not having a parental figure, could respond (and also realize the value of Vern or Anita on her side)

Dani would be furious especially if Vern was sympathetic to Hayley.

It would also give some humanity to the elder Duprees who have come off as a bit entitled at times.

To me this idea is one of the strangest things mentioned here. I would hate it. Of course Dani would hate it & she would be 100% justified in feeling so. It would flat-out be a betrayal of the first order.

There is no room for Hayley in the Duprees at this point. She had a place & she treated them horribly.

It's also Sweeps & we're being cheated out of 4 days. During sweeps a day is like 2 days & then 4 days it's like a week & a half. There's an equivalency & frankly you don't want to miss even one day out of Sweeps. The show began with only a few days of Feb. sweeps remaining. Now May Sweeps & we have to suffer through sports preemptions. Can't they play soccer anytime all year long if they want to? This is not rocket science.

None of us are happy about pre-emptions, but we're not being cheated out of anything. We're still going to see every episode that was filmed, and it's not like this arbitrary "sweeps month" label has any impact on content at all.

As long as the shows program around those dates, they matter. If the shows stop, mattering will vanish, of course. Thus far, even though they are no longer relevant to the ratings, the shows still program to those dates, reveals, climaxes, etc.

I understand that sweeps still matter. That wasn't my point, which was that we're not missing anything as viewers.

I'd also like to point out that the show should be aware of upcoming pre-emptions. I don't think CBS announces these sporting events just a week before they air.

Exactly; and wouldn't they know about the pre-emption ahead of time? Like, once they got the planned dates?

Oh, absolutely, "the show must go on" & in fact, it must. You're 100% correct that we are not going to miss any of the show. Plus, yes, they are aware long in advance!! It's not at all like it is for us, finding out with 3 weeks notice. Totally different thing. I did not get what you meant before but I do now.

Agreed! CBS soaps have gotten pre-empted for major sports events for years and the shows production knows ahead of time exactly what days they are.

Edit, I just noticed that all three IG accounts (BTG, Y&R, B&B) made this into a joint IG post.  LOL!   It's posted on all three accounts.

Maybe it's just the actress playing Dani that I have a problem with.

Hmmm. Perhaps. I feel Karla was great at the start...and still like her...but Dani currently does not have half of the interesting nuances she had when the show started. But tbf, Karla has not been given the opportunity to bring it like that again to date. Though I'm sure it's coming.

Yes it's a live broadcast of the soccer from the European evenings, which translates to 3-5pm Eastern U.S. time.
CBS also chose to air a live prematch analysis from 2-3 eastern.
