The next time we get a pre-emption MVJ should ask for a Prime-Time special. I think the show would do well actually!

Even if they did a BET primetime special I'd much prefer that to what we're getting which is two 3 episode weeks back-to-back. It just really sucks this happened at a time when it was really important from a story stand point to stick with the Monday-Friday format. I'm curious what the cliffhanger will look like since it'll actually be Wednesday's episode.

This where a connection with Anita or Vernon could be interesting. They know what Bill is like and have some sympathy for Hayley, who they seemed to have liked before it all blew up.

Bill would be pissed that a Dupree is buddying up to his wife and Hayley, not having a parental figure, could respond (and also realize the value of Vern or Anita on her side)

Dani would be furious especially if Vern was sympathetic to Hayley.

It would also give some humanity to the elder Duprees who have come off as a bit entitled at times.

I wouldn't mind this but I feel like the Duprees are already so expansive and clearly the dominate family. What I feel Haley is missing is a family. She's Jill Foster without the Foster family. Or Brooke without the Logan's.

If I had one major complaint is that there is only one family on this show. That isn't sustainable long term and so many of the characters would benefit from having some sort of family unit. I feel they could've done that while still maintaining the Duprees as the main family.

I would like that. It keeps them all in the same orbit without running to the well of the triangle too soon. Heck, it could be a nice slow burn, allowing for what you said about humanity, too. And lead to Dani's drunk car crash if played right.

Perhaps the writers think it's too soon to try something like that, though.

BTG is a breathe of fresh air, finding it's way. There are so many things the show is doing well, really establishing the Dupree's as the premiere family and their importance. The writing is definitely more contemporary, especially the script writers. The cast is pretty big and some of the recurring actors are outshining some of the contract players.

I can't wait for the Anniversary party this week!

It's also Sweeps & we're being cheated out of 4 days. During sweeps a day is like 2 days & then 4 days it's like a week & a half. There's an equivalency & frankly you don't want to miss even one day out of Sweeps. The show began with only a few days of Feb. sweeps remaining. Now May Sweeps & we have to suffer through sports preemptions. Can't they play soccer anytime all year long if they want to? This is not rocket science.

I could see Vernon possibly having a soft spot for her because he would be aware of the spell Bill cast on his precious Dani.. and would try to be a father/grandfather figure.. which would anger the domineering Dupree women.  Would be a good character driven conflict that wouldn't need to be an A plot.. but character building.

I know the actress that played Hayley recently said during that brief interview she did with Michael Fairman (the one she did with Timon) that Hayley was getting more development/focus on the episodes they were just filming so perhaps after May sweeps the focus might shift back to her and her backstory.

Maybe it's just the actress playing Dani that I have a problem with.  She would be more at home on a Tyler Perry production and a superior actress could be cast in her place.  An unknown... like Dominique Jennings  on Sunset Beach back in the day.

But yes, I do like that we do get a couple days break from characters and that no one character is totally hogging the airtime.  That's a big plus in my book

I agree they need more, but I suspect they will get it. I think they went a bit overboard cementing the Dupree family as the core early on as much as possible.

I agree, the BET special would've been nice. I know it sucks but Hopefully, It forces MVJ and her team to get more creative with their cliffhangers and to do them more often.

Really? I am shocked. Of course I am not but it is rather shocking to receive this reply. It's as if he was unable to recognize a rant, a poster venting. Somehow he thought i was being serious. it is baffling.

IMO Karla Mosley is tip-top, grade A quality actress. She was on GL. She was on B&B. Now we are so fortunate in having KaMo as one of our lead actors. At first she turned them down. She has two young daughters & she was frankly hesitant about picking them up & moving them across the country.

But when they came to her the second time, still wanting her for Dani, she being their first choice, she reconsidered & decided to try this on for size.

Again IMO we are oh so lucky that she made this decision. We are as fortunate as can be. This is not an easy role & not just anyone could pull it off. But KaMo can. Basically she gives them exactly what is on the page, every time, out of the gate, we can count on her. And, if you ask me, she is as rare as a hidden gem.

This is just one fan's opinion. You may have a different one. And that is okay, too.

One thing that is said about her is that she plays the vulnerability as well as the more overt 'out there' parts.  That is not me speaking. That is random talking heads.

Dani can be very quiet. Dani can be loud. Dani can be confident. Dani can be very small.

A lover, a friend, a manager, a mom, a daughter, a drunk, many things ...

    • No.  I recall there was also a mention about how distracting it was EOB's Gwen wasn't wearing nail polish as well.  That it was someone's pet peeve. And, yes, the fact characters can have a manicure in prison is the wildest continuity issue here.
    • Can anyone remember Mary Ellen Stuart's run as Jenny? I'm trying to fill in the cracks for missing stuff that we overlooked.  Bulletpoints:  * Dated Ross * Rusty's police partner * Directly responsible for Dinah coming forward about George Stewart (Cam's father)
    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton twirling his invisible moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

    • Thanks for asking that!  Back when we had another major event upcoming (a party or the concert), I had intended to ask what everyone here was planning to wear.
