@Taoboi I know Sean Freeman is not Shemar Moore level, but I don't put SF in the fake-ass Shemar category.

Well who can say? Shemar was green once. And he grew into his Shemar-ness. I am curious to see if Sean does the same.

I had assumed that Doug was just a gateway to Vanessa, who is the one with the connections due to her real estate business.  It's one of the main engines within the community so it makes sense that she's the main target to getting his foot within the gates of the community.. and then going from there.

And also Jacob is trying to nail Joey on something.. but his dad and his partner have some sort of deal with Joey that is putting a crimp in Jacob trying to nab Joey.

Nicole, Ted,  and Naomi have both remarked about Joey and his reputation so I think the show is slowly showing us that the Duprees are aware of Joey and his reputation.

I think part of the reason Nicole is concerned is because she knows if Vanessa falls for Joey's charms and invites him into the community.. it will be someone that the Duprees might not be able to get rid of him since he also has money and power in his own right.

In fact, maybe the 2nd family should be built around him.  He just mentioned an ex wife.. but he could have been lying about the backstory just like he did about his mother.  Perhaps he does have a family that isn't aware of his connections and/or accepts those connections.

So old school Marian Coby to me. And she probably end up being the one to kill him/get him locked up.

Well I know the running theory is that what if the ex-wife is Jan, Ashley's mother. lol. But I would rather the 2nd family be Jacob's since we already have backstory (and potential chemistry) already established.

I also think the show has done a good job of establishing Joey's reputation outside of the gambling storyline for the mentions you just mention as well. Jacob's side plot with his partner and his father. Other characters not even in that storyline like Ted (and the mom reveal was so well-done). So again...the cliffhanger works for me.

I mean...I'm not even sure if there IS an ex-wife given Joey has already lied about his mother. Look forward to finding out.

Thank you! Can't wait to get my hands on these episodes. I hope Ashley and Derek are at a minimum.

Jan could be Vanessa's  sister -Vanessa married well and moved up, Jan was a single mom that struggled.

Or Derek could be Vanessa's brother. Smitty related to Vanessa or Pamela etc

Just tying some of those isolated characters together.

Hayley needs more to do. She seems to have accepted Bill's request not to return to work. Let's see her isolated at home. What is she doing with herself?  Who could she befriend?

I still like the idea of Anita checking up on her and them forming a tentative friendship. Bill would be annoyed when he hears about Anita visiting, crosses paths with Anita and she sees she's looking out for that young woman. Bill v Anita would be a good watch. Bill might even decide to use it to his advantage.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think the problem with Derek is his being isolated. At the same time I'm not letting him bother me. I'm not letting anyone bother me.

Oh, darn, I thought she said she was definitely going back to work! I think staying home, alone, with no hobby or avocation is going to be a mistake. She may need a friend but more she needs something that is her own niche or thing to claim.

Bill's going to use being thoroughly trounced by our tiger matriarch to his advantage?!! Best case scenario trouncing happens in private!! Bill's ego & self-confidence, sure it's strong but I don't think being  humiliated in public would add.

Of course that's just my match prediction.

I was under the impression that Hayley was still working at the law firm.  Since she was bringing pick up meals to go back to the office, and there was one scene where she was shown working in his office at a separate area from him.

I do like the idea of Derek/Hayley becoming semi friends and interacting on occasion with Ashley being bothered/insecure because she's afraid that Hayley is after her man LOL

I think it was established that Vanessa came from money during one of her talks with Joey while Jan works at Vanessa's house (I assume as a servant).

About Derek & Ashley, no comment. I am experimenting with a new outlook. I just am not letting anyone bother me. So far working like charm!

Happy Easter & you better have had a great time. You & your husband & Elmo in the forest primeval for a week! You are living your best life! Have you caught up yet on BTG?

    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton practically twirling his moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

    • Thanks for asking that!  Back when we had another major event upcoming (a party or the concert), I had intended to ask what everyone here was planning to wear.

    • Lol. Right?  I mean the show could have framed the 60th anniversary in a different way, but the narrative was celebrating Tom and the hospital. Also, what a weirdly sexist bunch of posts about women's nail polish.  Like, yes, this is Days problem lol.  Stacy Haiduk isn't a good Kristen because she doesn't wear nail polish?  Are we in the 1950's???
