The pre-game analysis goes for most sporting events. It should be expected. I don't know of any sport events that I can think of that broadcasts right at the very start of a game. Basically it's to be expected.

Pre-emptions have been a tradition in daytime for decades.  It isn't as if it's something that just developed over the last few years, but I guess society has gotten more entitled and more prone to demanding instant gratification instead of enjoying the anticipation of a show and/or event.

LOL! Some of society has become extremely impatient.

I won't be able to watch Th-Fr until Saturday cause I gotta go make my "bag" first so......

I'll live vicariously through you guys until I can actually sit and watch.

I feel both of you two. I sing that song about fool often...and this week included some neighbor drama involving that very sense of entitlement at the expanse of common sense.

Awww sorry to hear that, but understand about that 'bag.'

Point is: the audience that’s willing to tune in at that time of the day is not interested in soccer. As shown by the ratings. So it’s a double waste of time to air soccer and it’s not surprising most of us are quite frustrated. (But we’ll survive!)

I disagree. Soccer fans will watch. TV audiences for the Olympics are proof that viewers will watch various sporting events at any hour of the day. The ratings might not be sky high, but the demo they want will watch, and that's what matters.

These things have been studied by the networks for years. They are not pre-empting shows because some Joe lost his mind one day and said "Let's air some soccer!"

Oh, yeah. I live in a city where I know soccer is major enough that people here will be lining the bars to watch it in the middle of the day. Heck, our baseball team is in town and people will be commuting over to the stadium TWO TO THREE hours ahead of the start time to watch. Sports fans (like soap fans) do not play.
