Derek. In the scene where he and Ashley set up for the dinner with Andre, I noticed he doesn't even stand or walk in a natural way. He seems so stiff and uncomfortable.

I notice Derek's stiff/unnatural way of walking, too.  Not normal for a firefighter who needs to be in top physical shape.  I wondered if it would connect to his TBI from the ceiling collapse at the fire.  But then, he's already gone back to work as a firefighter, so his current walking doesn't make sense at all.

Having Ashley being a nurse when there is no hospital drama- apart from delivering that baby she just stands around with a clipboard chatting-not even referring to patients or cases.

I still think they would have been better off giving Vanessa an office and have Ashley and Shanice work there in that field. The characters could be at the office or in other locations eg Country Club which would be natural and allow more interaction.

eg Andre could be looking for an apartment, doing photography for Vanessa.

Shanice could be commenting on office goings on eg Vanessa's sex life etc

Why is Derek a firefighter? So far he has rescued a cat. Why not a cop? He could then be shown working at the station with Jacob and have a level of involvement with that storyline.

And Smitty being a housewife all these years. Again, the journalist angle is so far dormant. Instead, have him working part time as a realtor and the conflict with Martin being that he is ready to go full time.

ALL of this is an improvement over what we're getting.

What's funny about this is that most journalists I know work freelance these days - very few publications can afford to have a full time staff, so it technically is the perfect "job" for him since the kids would be in school most of the day. So I don't really see the issue, but I guess he's meant to be an investigative reporter type?

This is a great point. There's no reason Smitty wouldn't have time to do journalism while at home.

Maybe it was just those jeans.......

The high point of Friday's episode: Derek's arssss on that bar stool.  He may be dumb as a doorknob butttt....

I co-sign this 😂 I'm willing to keep Derek on the show just to look at him in tight clothes. Did you see him in those jeans when Andre came over for dinner? Derek looks good in clothes. The show actually did him dirty in the first episode when they had him shirtless in that unsexy apron.

Forgive me. This one went over my head. I haven't watched Days since Patty Weaver was on. Probably before you were born. 😄

Lol. No worries. Someone posted a nice gif of her in this thread. She was EVERYTHING when I tuned into DAYS for the first time to see what the possession was about.

Weren't we told he's set financially? I think so. All they need to do is drop documentarian. Straight-up photog is fine. Not papparazzi, just a guy who takes good pictures.

I'd be good with this. Honestly, the show needs to do a MUCH better job of showing us that Andre has camera skills. The photos he takes are nothing special -- and worse. Some of it looks like absolute trash (see that framed collage of photos he gifted Ashley).

These people have money. Why do so many photos in their houses and offices look like Shutterfly rejects?

I don't know why I laugh everytime someone brings this up. I honestly didn't notice the photos when he gave her the collage, but now when I read comments like this all I think is "let me woo you girl by giving you photos where you look like [!@#$%^&*]." Reminds me of something that would happen in those parody movies.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'm not really feeling Andre. Sure, physically he's attractive, but everything else for me makes him off putting. Like he's this womanizer type, but somehow drawn to Ashley who is in a relationship and the biggest wet blanket on the cast. If Andre was only into Ashley because it was a game for him to get with someone in a relationship then I would roll with it, but the way they're writing her and the lack of on screen chem between the actors, it just reads really awkward. He also seems a bit dull.

All this Derek talk about how his butt looked, how stiff he was walking, and how he looked in his jeans while sitting on the stool.

Don't temp me people!😂

Derek is profoundly unattractive to me. Resembles early man. It's not any Caucasian in any storm, people.

😂 Boy can keep walking stiffly if it means he's still gonna wear those tight jeans.

Yeah, there's been some questionable quality.  That one picture of Ashley in the camera, though is one that is excellent. Sometimes they are nailing details like that & some time not. But, anything tech, to any degree, I'm telling myself that we know Carruthers had her hands full n the beginning. And Monday is Episode 28, right?

Yeah I don’t see any sort of attractiveness with Derek. On a show with some absolute stunning men, it makes him stand out even more how bland he is.
