I may be wrong, but I believe they're actually taping the rehearsals now, and if the rehearsal of the scene is error-free, it goes on the reel so they don't have to run it again.  Someone (Jeanne Cooper, I think) mentioned that sometimes the rehearsal ends up being the only take.

It's amazing how good some of the actors are, then. I was watching Thursday's ep thinking I'm so embarrassed such good actors are playing these scenes. What a shame. I get the set limitations but compelling writing costs nothing extra.

Such a good start. I felt last week Y&R had gotten its momentum back. And yep, this episode feels like more of the same. And don't tell me Tracy's storyline is now about to take on the form of an actual umbrella storyline cuz I will be surprised.

I continued to be fascinated with this growing closeness between Sharon and Phyllis. Like Summer, I find it so odd. Definitely different. And I would be curious to see where it goes. Phyllis wanting/desiring to be around Sharon...what a thought? And I don't think we saw much of Sharon as of late, so it was nice to see her back. A nice good break. And I couldn't help but giggle at seeing that picture of Rory Gibson on the mantel given the rumors going around about GH. And awww at Nick changing his mind about going to see Noah. So...I loved Chance (and CF in those blue jeans) revealing the tea about the gas remote...aiming the trio at Alan unknowing. And I also LOVE the Ashley mentions.

I saw some of the comments above and I agree. While it has had its moments due to AL playing Summer the Vixen to the hilt, I overall have not liked the Summer/Kyle/Claire triangle. Okay, I've liked the movement of it up 'til now. But it ONLY works if JG allows Claire to have the edges she had when she came to town. The writing appeared to be getting there, but now it is back to Claire being a Mary Sue. Again...that WON'T work. And clearly, JG is smart enough to see that because this episode had Victor trying to throw Audra into the mix with Kyle and Claire. Yeeeeah...nope. Audra has enough going on with Nate and Holden. Just give Claire her claws.

Which brings me to Chance (looked hot AF in that short sleeve white shirt) getting Summer to admit she was jealous. AL played those scenes so well, too. Still...le sigh. Still sad that means Chance and Summer are done.

Still...good start and reading the synopsis for the rest of the week, looks like it's about to be mess.

!!!!!

Sigh I still don’t know why Traci was never at least given additional children with Steve. I feel like she should have at least had a son  and possibly an additional daughter. Heck Colleen should still be alive with at least 2 kids with JT by now!

First of all, ASHLLLLLLLLLLEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Was I not thinking that she would be back eventually. Probably for this Alan storyline since there is still a loose plot thread from her story climax in Paris. So you know I love seeing her. And of course, she had to throw some light shade at Diane. lol.

Another good episode. So happy somebody woke JG up.

Mad respect for Chance (and still loving those blue jeans and that white shirt) for one hand being the good guy that I love him being by being a friend to Summer on one hand, but on the other hand respecting himself enough to know Summer is stringing him along and letting her know what time it is. The actions of an adult. And CF's look as he got his phone call and Summer dashed off said everything. I'm sad that Summer is getting back on the Kyle/Summer merry-go-round, but those were some good scenes. AL, as usual, was also great. I'm just sad that there was nothing more done with Chance/Summer.

Lord...this Alan/Traci storyline. So much coming together. I've loving the Traci center of it all. And Oops...here's come Alan. BM has been selling it, and I loved Traci's way of stalling. Love the Brad, Steve mentions. And it makes sense even if Alan does not believe her. Meanwhile, Chance is closing in with information. And then you have Nick, Sharon, and Giggly Heffa doing recap to the Ashley/Paris climax. So I guess we are going to that hideout to see how it connects. I'm still wondering how this will end, but it's coming across so much better than what came before it in this storyline. Probably because it's Abbott-centered now versus just Sharon/Phyls.

And...another cliffhanger? Oooo. So well-done and the music.

FACTS!!!

Sorry I missed your response but everything you mentioned pretty much echoes my sentiments exactly.

Audra and Summer definitely need to detach themselves from manchild/errand boy lol. Imagine Summer having the hots for Holden much to Audra’s dismay lol.

And 4/7 through 4/10 were actually decent and engaging overall.

I admit that I've been busy so it takes longer to get caught up but knowing that Ashley's back has sped up my viewing. lol. I don't know who woke up JG, but I'm not hating toooo much.

Agree. Audra is just fine with Nate and her secret with Holden. And Summer was better off with Chance IMHO. There are so many ways to keep Kyle/Claire interesting without using either. Heck, the Summer angle makes sense, but the writing for having her there has been ugh.

Same. I hope to get back to it later.

I'm worried about this Abbott renovation.

That set has been unchanged for decades, so why now?

I can only think that it might have become too old to maintain, thus calling for an upgrade.

And/or it will become another set that is shrunken due to budget restraints, like the Chancellor Estate. Although,I don't see how they could do that.

We'll have to wait and see. They might surprise us.

I was so so drawn into the Traci/Alan scenes. I was so worried for Tracy at the same time. The actor has done a great job showing he’s definitely Martin now, even to how his hair is a little more disheveled.

Loved Jack and Ashley coming to the rescue. And that moment when Ashley confirmed what everyone has suspected, that that was definitely Martin and not Alan. I’ve always said I’m more of an Abbott fan outside of Kyle than Newman fan so I’m really enjoying the Sharon/Phyllis story intertwining.

I've been watching off and on from the start.  I hated what they did to the Chancellor Estate.  Even the "Jill corrected version" is a letdown for me.  I'm glad Victor got most of his old house back.  I'm okay with that one, even if it is a little different from before.  I don't have high hopes for the Abbott Mansion makeover, but we will see.  I was never really a big fan of that set in the first place, but we will see...

Wow, Martin’s narcissism was his undoing and Sharon and Phyllis brought him down together. Really enjoyed that.

Poor Traci is TRAUMATIZED. Wow he really targeted both Abbott sisters even if part of him did truly fall in love with Traci.

    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.

    • Lol.  I love that this board still allows misinformation from a bad source.
    • Thanks @kalbir what a time to have enjoyed the peak of the primetime soaps. Haha you’re good. The only complaint I have with Lorraine’s death as I mentioned recently in the FC thread was it was overkill, and all we got Apollonia. If a pregnant woman had to be killed off, I would’ve chosen just killing off Robin instead in some freak accident or in the explosion at Richard’s to save us from us that disaster lol.    Did Hotel have a cliffhanger that year? I imagine if Hotel had been soapier we would’ve had cliffhangers like the hotel catching on fire or bombed by an ex-lover of Christine. Peter pisses everyone off and is shot in his office. Or a major Golden age star like a Olivia de Havilland shows and tells how she originally owned the Hotel and how Victoria Cabot & Laura Trent stole it from her but now she owns it etc.
    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
