I simply can't believe what this show has become.  What seems like years ago, I used to anticipate watching an episode of Y&R.  In the past year or more, I simply read the spoiler and decide if I even want to watch it.  It is trivial and boring at it's best now!  I don't know how anybody can be interested in this drivel.  I wasn't sure how I'd react to BTG but it and GH are the only daytime soaps that even hold my attention.

Oh. THIS was what you all were talking about. Yeeeeah NOPE.

These scenes with Daniel, Tessa, and the guitar were giving me Billy and his podcast. Not here for that. Nor was I here for the Giggly Heffa basically weaponizing her trauma to get Billy to allow Daniel to work at a company that I don't care about.

Thankfully, we had who I wanted to see on. People connected to the Damian storyline. And I know a lot of you were hoping that Amy might find a cure. And it looked like the story is playing that beat. I was here for Amy getting the news and her and Audra's good-bye scene. Even though like Audra, I do feel it's moving too fast since Amy just got back into town and we never even got to see her with Traci. Just more salt in the wound.

That said...I loved the Sally/Audra scenes as usual and I see leather has also hit Holden's storyline (and he was looking FOINE @slick jones). But everyone was dressing well this episode for the most part, but CH, ZS, and NO were easily my favorites.

And the coda...a scheming Audra...is a fun Audra.

The portraits in general on this show have been pretty awful. Victoria's in the Newman office for starters.

I dislike Katherine's portrait at the Chancellor Estate. Will we ever see that set again?

If Diane had have commissioned a portrait of John ,Jack would have been a blubbering mess. It would have fitted in with flashback. Much more of an emotional moment than a painting that represents a failed marriage.

I'm still watching, but I can't disagree with a word you wrote.

Everything on this show is MUNDANE. "Mindful and demure" was created to describe these scripts, which are beyond boring.

We've been talking A LOT about the Abbott renovation. That alone tells you how weak the show has been. It's a bad sign when "Cole coughed" becomes the most exciting development of the week.

I really think this is the low point of Josh Griffith's tenure.

I agree.

Even doing forced catch-up today, there are little things I'm liking, but it has very little (cuz right now Audra in scheming mode is interesting and they keep side-lining all things connected to Damian) to do with the writing. I'm about to see the renovation and I can tell it seems to be the focus here at the moment. Meanwhile, the fact the costume designer's is attempting more this week with people's clothes and that's really standing out. But the writing...meh.

I can't believe JG managed to get momentum and then abruptly snatched it away again. Low indeed.

Tues. April 29, Wed. April 30, Tues. May 6, and Wed. May 7:
UEFA European Soccer Champions League Semifinals

This soccer coverage will be broadcast live in the European evenings,
which is 3-5pm Eastern USA, plus a 2-3pm Eastern prematch show.
Total timeframe: three hours 2-5pm EDT on those four dates.
On CBS only.

BeyondTheGates:
This fully officially preempts BTG in all timezones in USA and Canada.
Tues. April 29, Wed. April 30, Tues. May 6, and Wed. May 7.

Link to official announcement from @Errol to share with friends/family:

Y&R and B&B:
On the affected dates, this will partially preempt Y&R and/or B&B
on CBS only in Mountain/Pacific/Alaska timezones.
Because Y&R and B&B air fully in Eastern/Central time, it's not an official preemption,
and those shows will be considered to have aired
--
so you'd need to watch on another time/channel or online, or you'd miss it.

List of alternate times/channels for Y&R and B&B here:

Y&R and B&B will air normally in Canada and Australia in all timezones.

Yeah, I could almost throw the whole week away. Almost.

After setting up the story of Diane redesigning the Abott mansion, I was at least invested in that. And being unspoiled for how it would look. I...liked it. AND we got a flashback between Jack and John, too? I am looking forward to Traci and Ashley's reactions. And just like the returned Newman Ranch, it has a little more space. I don't know how long those chairs in the foreground will be there though. It was a nice 'facelift.'

Audra slowly putting the moves on Kyle. I was surprised she still got it. Well with him that is. Chemistry. But like I said already...a scheming Audra is a dangerous one.

That's all I had about this week. Compared to B&B (and BTG), suddenly, Y&R is just...boring.

So at in recent weeks the sets in use are

Billy's apartment

Newman Ranch

Abbott Home

Nate's apartment

Tack House

Which means the majority of characters are homeless and meet at

GCAC

Jazz Club

CL

Society

PB stated that the Abbott home is a permanent set (I thought this was always the case) which means that situations will be contrived for characters to be there, just like the Newman Ranch receives a constant stream of visitors to attend to Victor propped in his chair.

It really impedes the storytelling and is annoying to see characters float from one eatery to the next.

-- This is my biggest complaint with the show -- and that's in a long list of complaints. The sets problem is HORRENDOUS.

Now we have Daniel and Tessa meeting all the time at Crimson Lights. Doesn't Tessa run Society? Doesn't she have a wife and kid at home? I don't know what the hell she's doing spending all this time sitting in CL. It's all so contrived, to the point where I find myself getting angry about it.

-- And then we get Phyllis eating dinner, or lunch, or whatever, at the GCAC while she yells in her argument with Billy loudly enough to disturb the entire dining room. Billy is hiring and firing for a company we've never seen do anything and a company we've never seen him do work for.

    • Haven't seen today's ep yet but so will be interested to see the clothes. So far I think they have been very character specific (even if I don't like some of them eg Kat's cutsie style) Anita is very showy/glittery, Nicole classic elegance, Dani sexy/bold colors etc. Unlike Y&R which seems much more generic. Also BTG pays attention to the men's wardrobe and has developed a style for the boyz-which is harder to do with male fashion. The absence of any of Derek/Ashley at any of these big events again demonstrates how they are in a different universe to the rest of the show. Not that a nurse and a fireman would be there but still they seem destined at this point to stay in their own lane and have little interaction with the core of the show.
    • Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli, and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.
    • Once Johnny Dallas' cut himself off from Laurie Ann Karr and their son, and once Laurie successfully recovered from her mental problems, she wanted a new, fresh, and healthy start for the next chapter of her life. She legally reverted her name and changed John Victor's  surname to Karr. After moving to the country (when Teri  Keane was dropped from the show), Bill and Martha Marceau legally adopted Jennifer, the baby girl whom they had earlier taken in when the child's biological mother, Taffy Simms (and other bio family members) proved to be unfit to raise her. Jennifer legally and emotionally became a Marceau, and gave that name to her own daughter, whom Jennifer birthed through surrogacy as a single parent. Et...voila! The Karr and Marceau legacies live on.

    • BLQ is having second thoughts regarding putting her baby up for adoption. Chase is upset he can't tell Dante. So both are putting this on at lulus feet. Saying she is holding it over them. Lulu is doing none of this.
    • Yes she absolutely was involved in that story which seems to have gone nowhere.  She didn't start to remove herself from the writing until 1973.
    • Y'all are bringing back great memories of AMC 2.0 for me.  I haven't thought about it and the new characters in so long, well since it aired, and I plan to go re-watch it now. When AMC ended, I finally came to peace with it and accepted that I will never watch an hour of a TV show daily in my life again... something that I had been doing since I was 6-7 years old. I was starting a new career, relationship, and chapter in life when AMC 2.0 came out.  I found a way to watch it, but things felt differently for me at the time and when it was so short-lived and gone, it became such a distant memory, sadly.
    • That's a great point. I wish the writing could find those nuances.
    • After all Lulu's been through with her coma and missing years I can get her being on the sensitive side especially when talking to her mother.  I was thinking it was more a culmination of everything than just this one particular problem.
    • I see her moral dilemma, too, and I don't think Lulu was out of line. I just felt it was overboard for her to break down in tears over her dilemma.
