I would argue that the origins of DiMera Enterprises can be traced back to the introduction of Tony DiMera. The current head writer may be guilty of many literary sins, but he does, on occasion, gesture toward historical continuity.

In Tony’s initial storyline, he and Alex Marshall were conspiring to seize control of Anderson Manufacturing—a move driven by Bob and Chris’s development of residential solar power technology.

From the outset, DiMera has operated as a global conglomerate: its retail ventures functioning as a public-facing façade for deeper interests in energy, shipping, and medical engineering. Anna DiMera’s fashion line once masked DE’s more nefarious undertakings, much as GabiChic appears to do today.

All that said, I would make these points—except that the person who started this discussion recently informed us they no longer watch the show. So I do question whether there’s any utility in exploring historical context within a thread ostensibly focused on the current episodes.

Within the current context DE is just a McGuffin.  People barely work there, and beyond the revolving door of CEOs, we only know 2-3 other employees.

Fair point.  But I do read recaps and spoilers and am aware of the current storylines.  I brought it up only in reply to another poster commenting on a current storyline regarding DiMera/Kiriakis feud.

But yes I agree that I should bring any historical discussion to the history thread.  Sorry for derailing the discussion of current episodes.

Dimera should've gone belly up years ago. And I think it would be a really nice and refreshing change for Days if Xander, Philip and Alex are able to do it.

I wouldn't even mind Johnny joining up with them, as a way of ending Stefano and EJ's "toxic" legacy.

Stefano wanted Anderson too. He and Tony eventually got their hands on half of it, but then lost it.

Lots of shirtless today, and no question the boys are looking fine!

Paul Telfer was most definitely training hard when his scenes were shot. MY GOD, that body! I know most people here don't like RSW, but I'm keeping him on the show just to see those pecs.

Peyton Meyer is sexy and looks good, but he needs to hit the weights a lIttle more to keep up with the big boys.

I'm only 10 minutes in, so here's boping that Tate takes his shirt off LOL

I like him too 😍😂😂

The writing is the biggest reason why I'm so tough on him/Alex.

I too always found it weird as hell they tried to make 'DiMera' a legitimate business lol. The DiMeras who have had 50 different mad scientist capers on this show?

Yes.  I always thought it was a vague front to make Stefano seem legitimate, but the business just owned properties and laundered money or something.  They didn't actually care about business.  That wasn't anything Stefano was interested in.

You're both correct, lol.

When Pat Falken Smith introduced Stefano DiMera in 1982, she was clear on who and what he was: a mafioso who was looking to expand his criminal enterprises to the Midwest - specifically, to Salem - and to help reunite Tony and Liz as well.  (Of course, it comes out that he's also Renee's biological father, which throws a huge monkey wrench into her own relationship with Tony, lol).  Stefano's exact origins were murky - after all, to suggest that he was Italian would've invited lawsuits from anti-defamation groups - but he had businesses the same way Vito Genovese had businesses - which is to say, he was a racketeer.

It's only after Pat Falken Smith quits or is fired that we start talking about prisms and [!@#$%^&*].  At that point, everything connected to Stefano and DiMera becomes convoluted and logic-defying, including "DiMera Enterprises" and the Brady/DiMera/Kiriakis feud (which, contrary to DAYS' comic book-like history, did not begin with the fall of Rome).

😂😂😂😂😂

Today's show wasn't that great, but all the hotness made it hard to fast-forward the awful Sarah secret garbage.

It was...

Tate almost catching Doug in his birthday suit would've been great!😂

He came close!😂

Finally, a Tate/Doug III showdown!

I’m not really sure why Days started their feud/rivalry before they ever really got to know each other, but whatevs. The gloves came off today and I wish their argument had gone on for a little longer before Holly came in. There’s still a lot of things that they need to argue about and hopefully, we get a lot more of this, and an actual brawl, in the future. The acting, from both of them, seemed better too. They seemed to play off of each other really well.

And Doug III still looked hot. Tate looked good too 😍😂😂

I’m totally on board with EJ’s shooting causing problems for JJ and Gabi. JJ confiding everything in Shawn was a good scene and I’m looking forward to seeing what could happen from here. Idk about Kristen’s possible involvement in it though.

And, I’ll always love Brady/Belle scenes. The scriptwriter really took a lot of time and put a lot of care into their scenes today and I was impressed with them.

At what point do we begin to be concerned that a grown, unhoused, criminal is sleeping in his underwear next to a 17-year-old high school student?

Even if we overlook the age difference, Maggie has a mansion full of staff that never noticed a tattooed stranger in their midst?  The security is very lax ever since Xander moved in.  I hope he hasn't done a buy-out of nonessential household staff. 😉

Holly turned 18 in December. They had a party at the pub and everything on Christmas Eve

As a female that dated 21 year olds at 18 I am not that concerned.   It's weird she's still in high school though.  I am sure they will have Holly graduate in a month or two and Brenda Barrett her off into adulthood immediately so it's not so creepy.

It is strange that both the Dimera and Kiriakis mansion have full time staff, but literally everyone just walks right in.

Because he's got a heart of gold 😊😂😂

And speaking of that, now I'm starting to wonder if some fans were side-eyeing Doug and Julie back in the 70s, due to their age difference.

Wasn't that her 17th birthday? I don't remember.

Same here.

For me, it's not the age difference, it's the high school thing

How yummy was Doug again today?

The Sophia, Tate, and Amy Choi talk once again about the adoption was boring.

I'm wondering if Sophia is the one who shot EJ.

A short one today. Only 31 minutes.

Between that, the padding, Philip’s random mention of his fake leg, and the piss poor dialogue, especially in the JJ/Shawn/Kristen/Melinda scenes, I guess that means we know who worked on this episode 🤮🤮

But I also admit, it was a little better than some of the garbage that we’ve seen from him.

I did like that Belle admitted her feelings for EJ, even though the way it was done was stupid af. Those scenes should have focused more on Belle/Martha than EJ/Dan. Their final scene was a little better though.

Btw, good luck, Philip and Xander 👍

And welcome back, Samantha Gene! We’ve missed you!
