I don’t know if someone replied about this but Mary Elizabeth Winstead was the first  person recast on Passions. She played Original Jessica for 8 months then Jade Harlow took over in the summer.

I’ve been trying to give him a chance but he’s just so out of place here, and  Ben Gavin doesn’t get what being in a soap opera  means so I don’t think he will last all the way to the end of year…

Im ok with Ashley but wonder if there is a stronger actress out there even for her?

Haha I certainly haven’t forgotten about MARCIA being OG Rebecca!

and looking back she did well in the role and a part of me wishes she could have stuck around longer…..nothing against the late great Andrea though!

Ashley is the weak link of the main female cast members.

I can't think of any major soap actresses in the 25-35 age range. That just shows how far the talent pool in daytime has dropped.

Although it seems that the role might have been recast prior to the show's premiere, as has been suggested, Maurice Johnson is the ultimate professional.

He did interviews, engaged with fans and talked positively about the show despite knowing he wouldn't have long to enjoy it, with his role recast.

Last week Friday, a local outlet even published an interview with Johnson discussing his role on the new series: https://www.wjbf.com/community/black_excellence/from-augusta-to-fairmont-crest-actor-maurice-johnson-goes-beyond-the-gates/

LOL so true! The original Don Hughes was on ATWT quickly recast and Jim Matthews on AW was immediately recast within a week of the show’s premiere.

I know it’s been 28 years but Sunset Beach did go through the same thing when the original Cole aka George Hamilton’s son and Shannen Doherty’s ex husband was replaced by Eddie Cibrian, fresh off Y&R and simultaneously starring in Baywatch Nights.

I gave the AW and  Sunset Beach examples above but wasn’t the first recasts on Passions really the multiple Kay actresses that occurred in summer 2000? LOL. That was bad.

    • I don't think they were the biggest factor, but I do think there's a specific style to Dano's work that wasn't helped by how pointless her character often felt (and later on the various writers clearly saw the character as a joke).
    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
    • Angry Dante was hot; sorry, but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't awesome seeing Dominic Zamprogna act his ass off in a way that was not crying.
    • Thanks, interesting and so believable (no Lonatrat or Clones...)Instead of the Lewis family he should have made the Oil family Granger...even if the audience didn't remember that one off character it would have been interesting to tie it into the fictional GL world.
    • Dante needs stick removed from his butt
