Members soapfan770
Audra is probably the first successful classic soap vixen Y&R has had since the Bell/Alden days thanks in large part to the actress. Walters returning back as Diane has been a blessing and actually made me wonder what could have been had she had just stayed as Diane for all those lost years. Although the premise has been utterly ridiculous he did bring back Cole and is currently reunited with Victoria. That Days run was particularly horrendous I still can’t believe that stuff got rubber-stamped but then again I shouldn’t be surprised at all. Necktie Killer, the rape, Bo back to die etc. I knew there was some backlash for Hope killing Stefano in cold blood but for that one I wasn’t too bothered with though. I would’ve had Scotty Grainger running the Genoa City Chronicle or something for years now. But how this show went from Blair Redford to greasy Daniel Hall though…………..
Members janea4old
^ That wasn't Griffith at DAYS writing that. That was Carlivati. ------------------- This was Griffith at DAYS:
Members Taoboi
Whhhhhattt!!!! Color me shocked. You said it better than I. And I keep forgetting he created Hilary.
Members BetterForgotten
If he was willing to go to ATL, I would have taken him as a Derek recast on BTG as well. Assuming they’ll be better writing and more development for that character.
Members Michael
The Necktie Killer, Abigail's breakdown, and Mansi's exit were all written by Griffith (parts of it credited to Griffith & Higley). Then, in fall of 2016, Griffith was gone, and Higley & Quan wrote Marci Miller's arrival as Abigail, the Chad/Gabi pairing, and Abby's stupid green-card marriage to Dario. Carlivati showed up in late summer 2017 and ended the triangle, reuniting Chad and Abigail. Billy Flynn got some of the better material of Josh Griffith's bleak DAYS run. The aspect of the Necktie Killer storyline that served as a Chad/Abigail love story was really effective. He also got that strange brainwashing/pseudo-pairing with Belle (Flynn and Martha Madison were pretty good together!).
Members Bright Eyes
It is a damn shame to lose him. I can't tell if he was fired or quit, but either way I'll miss him. He's a grounding presence and even though his last name is DiMera, he's blended into the Hortons seamlessly. However, this does not deter me from being excited for the new writers, helped by the fact he'll be around nearly a year from now. Count me as someone who doesn't think killing off Abby and having her stay dead was a mistake. They've gone through three adult actresses, all whom don't want to come back. It makes perfect sense for her to be dead. What is concerning is Errol mentioning the budget cuts on a show that already has no budget. Could cancellation be looming? Their contract is up next year.
Members Vee
Flynn at BTG is an interesting thought but I honestly think they might want to avoid casting any white popular daytime stars in the contract roles atm. (Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom are exempt, as they're recurring supporting cast.) I suggested Eden Riegel for Ashley at one point but she's a bit too old and it's the same problem; if you have a Black-centric show you want the Black stars at the forefront, not the white B-players with major actors soap fans know and love pulling all the focus, at least for now until everyone is more established. (If someone like Vanessa Marcil were to come in and do a short stint later on in a Rosemary Prinz at AMC-esque stunt that's another story, but...) If GH was in any decent creative shape I would welcome him there as a new doctor, cop, whatever. But he'd be only slightly less wasted there than at Y&R. Still, I don't fault him for getting out of DAYS. Edited 10 hours ago by Vee
Members BetterForgotten
GH wouldn’t resist trying to re-pair him with Mansi again and suddenly have Kristina start craving some good ole d!ck. Members janea4old
Abigail had more than one breakdown, hence my confusion. Griffith wrote Mansi's breakdown as Abigail, setting Ben on fire? And then Marci's Abigail's breakdowns were written by Carlivati? Members bongobong
Good reporting from Errol. Did Y&R make an effort to recruit any of the top Days talent like Billy when the show moved to Peacock? Did Sony kibosh that? Seems like a missed opportunity since it was the only soap in the slot after the move.
Members Vee
I remain convinced the only thing stopping FV from going there with Lucky and Kristina is JJ's demands. (I wouldn't hate it tbqh as a brief spoiler/triangle or quad, but that show and that fanbase have been through enough)
Members Michael
Yes! The first, Griffith-penned breakdown was... "just" a breakdown (I don't think they ever gave her a specific mental illness diagnosis). Mansi played that really well, though the whole show was way too dark. All the other, Marci-portrayed breakdowns were DID- or drugging-related. All of that was Carlivati.
Members Chris B
Billy is really talented so I'm excited to see him do something new. I hope they give him a good character and something decent to work with. It's hard to get excited knowing how dull the show is but if they handle this smartly, it could be great for the show.
Members YRBB
He's talented, handsome, and would make a great Billy. Too bad the likelihood of anything good and long-lasting coming out of this is very low.
