Dani vs. Bill was the highlight of today. They both gave as good as they got, and hopefully this was the first confrontation of many. And if/when they do reunite, hopefully it's not for a while lol I'd like to see how Hayley would react to it.

I also enjoyed the family meeting too. And I like that there's internal conflict within the Dupree family as well as all the external conflict from Bill, etc. I also got a B&B/Brooke Logan vibe from Anita in those scenes; thinking she can order around grown ass adults like they're children

Sadly, Martin was the weak link again. Which is too bad because I'm getting more and more interested in his big secret that Vernon and Anita are being blackmailed over. I still don't see any chemistry between him and Smitty either. I'm also interested in seeing how Smitty interacts with the rest of the cast.

I don't really know what Vanessa was doing today, but I wish we could have had more of a friendship scene between her and Dani. Btw, Zeke from Vanessa's office looked like an older Lucas Adams

The cliffhanger was really good too.

1) I liked the Dani/Bill scene and her interplay with both of her parents.  It seems as though Dani has always been given the shaft by the family and might explain why she modeled at a young age.  To get attention solely lacking from her family (not sure if accurate or based on her perceptions).

2) I would have held off on the Vanessa portion till another episode since it needed more focus.

3) I liked seeing the Naomi/Chelsea scene and getting some insight into how Dani's angst and Bill's selfishness has affected both girls.  Naomi appears to have been close to Bill and Chelsea to Dani.  I hope to see more scenes of Dani as a mother to both of them (the snippet we saw at the family meeting shows the control Dani has over Chelsea).

4) So far, Hayley has been written in atypical way and I like that.  I wish we had seen the dynamic Hayley had with Naomi/Dani and what drew Hayley/Bill to one another to begin with.

5) The Have Nots scene was a good scene, establishing the downstairs counterpart to the upstairs (Duprees).

6) The final minutes made me realize we longer are watching grandma's soap where nothing happens on a Wednesday.

7) Martin seems to be taking Smitty for granted and I wonder if the lack of chemistry means they aren't end game.

The daughters talking about tiptoeing around Dani's moods and Dani freaking over her food... these small interpersonal moments what I love about soaps. Moreso than the dramatic ending of this episode.

Vanessa is totally the Diane Miller of the show.

I loved the gossip session at Orphey Jean's. Great way to fulfill the obligatory recap.

Karla Mosley's acting takes me completely out of her scenes.

I'm really liking Bill. They definitely needed a steady and layered performer to offset Mosley. He gives a lot of good nuance and subtext. I'm really looking forward to the confrontation with Naomi over sleeping with her best friend. Naomi seems really grounded and cool.

I think Chelsea is going to develop an eating disorder if she doesnt already have one and it will be triggered by Dani. I thought it was disgusting that she wouldnt allow her to eat a slice of pastrami from a charcuterie board

She did it so well.

Loved every second of it. I said from watching the specials I was most intrigued by her and her daughter. It’s only Wednesday and I live.

I feel like after three episodes, I get the Dupree family. I’m loving the family gathering scenes as well. I think what I love about Vernon is that he seems like a good and mostly clean Patriarch that truly loves his family and not in that dirty Victor Newman way which is so old and tiring. Vernon feels like a throwback to old school patriarchs.

    • Thanks @kalbir what a time to have enjoyed the peak of the primetime soaps. Haha you’re good. The only complaint I have with Lorraine’s death as I mentioned recently in the FC thread was it was overkill, and all we got Apollonia. If a pregnant woman had to be killed off, I would’ve chosen just killing off Robin instead in some freak accident or in the explosion at Richard’s to save us from us that disaster lol.    Did Hotel have a cliffhanger that year? I imagine if Hotel had been soapier we would’ve had cliffhangers like the hotel catching on fire or bombed by an ex-lover of Christine. Peter pisses everyone off and is shot in his office. Or a major Golden age star like a Olivia de Havilland shows and tells how she originally owned the Hotel and how Victoria Cabot & Laura Trent stole it from her but now she owns it etc.
    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
    • Yep! Very curious to see where this goes.
    • I was confused too, but I think it was always a "tribute thread" (this one and OLTL's were created when their cancellations were announced). They just changed the show abbreviations to their titles spelled out, I guess to make the board just a little bit more uniform. I was lost, too lol
    • Well... I am. I think she's losing her initial menacing presence. Slowly but surely. I need the crazy dialed back. But as I said... this is very miniscule negative reaction. I am loving the show right now. We'll see how they'll continue after the fireworks.
    • Oh, I am so looking forward to the reveal about Laura's accident, and Nicole and Leslie having a real one on one.
    • I'm not seeing that right now. I'm stepping out on faith and believeing MVJ will not turn "Silk" into a ridiculous caricature.
    • One little... very little... tiny... minuscule negative comment. I was debating if I should care to say it... In some ways... Silk has been acting clownish... I think they need to dial it back, because if this continues with the current pace... she'll be worse than Sheila in terms of getting totally predictable and not menacing anymore. TMG is one hell of an actress... I just want to see a more normal and less clownish Silkpress in the coming weeks*months. We need to dial down the wigs too. It's becoming a funny caricature and we don't want that. Maybe we do, I'm not sure. I just like her more menacing and sinister than... "Hahhahahah what is she wearing today". That's a personal preference.   So far... I am okay with it... but I have fears this may turn into a really tired joke in the future. I want TMG as long as possible on my screen!
