Unless towards the end Thudley turns to the camera and makes a surprise announcement that he’s  stepping down as HW, not sure I’m that interested either….

B&B was the last successful new daytime drama to launch plus it became the most watched American daytime drama in the world, so I can see why it would get a documentary.

The filmmaker is very good.  He did this excellent doc about Pee Wee Herman (no joke).  And he's very avant-garde.  So, I look forward to his perspective on the genre, as it promises to be artistic and not just rudimentary information.

I hope we see some never before seen behind the scene stuff from Bold's golden era 1987 to 1993.

I am excited!

I saw his Spaceship Earth documentary and it was good. It was about Biosphere 2, where incompetence and bad decision-making turned a once-promising project into a trainwreck.

No wonder he is interested in B&B!

As I noted in Errol's article, I hope someone will address the misogyny involved in devaluing soaps as an American art form.

The idea that melodrama geared toward entertaining women (and gay men), is inferior to gritty violent dramas endeared by men is an issue that needs critical re-evaluation.

Similar to how disco was ridiculed in its time. Only to later be contextualized as music that was dismissed by straight DJ's because it represented the liberated anthems of Gay men and Black women.  Soaps need to be honored beyond just a training ground for future famous actors.

Why is it only focusing on Bold.

The Bell family legacy seems to be a core part of the doc and since this is the only show still truly ran by them it makes sense.

I’m excited for this

Okay, yeah I agree it makes the most sense. Thank you.

I get the sense that this will be more of a fly-on-wall look at B&B's day-to-day operations rather than an exhaustive chronicle of the genre, or even of B&B itself.

“I’m not a lifelong soap fan, but I sure am now,” Wolf tells PEOPLE about creating the documentary Soaps, which includes deep dives into the biggest and most successful soap operas in the industry, with a strong focus on The Bold and the Beautiful. “It reflects, in a broader way, the cultural significance of soap operas and the incredible task involved in bringing these stories to the screen every day.”
