At the point they wrote the stuff that's airing, they thought Drake was coming back. Given his diagnosis, though, it seems very strange and even tasteless to have done another "John is under deep cover and has left Marlena alone" thing. Just say he's away on a mission and have Marlena go visit him a few times.

I get that the show wishes to keep Doug alive in some fashion, but this is a story that should have been told while Bill Hayes was still alive and able to work (and not before reuniting Doug with his son first).

Lord, I hate to see how they'd handle Tommy Horton's death and Thomasina Horton's introduction, lol.

I mean, we all know how Ron is.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he just ran with the first thing that came to mind, without thinking it through, in order to keep Abigail dead

Yeah. I agree

I’m glad that John’s been absolved but I just don’t see why AnnaLynne McCord’s character had to be related to Caterina and Konstantin

I also am pretty massively in favor of cutting slack. I'm also both pleased & surprised that Corday ran the ending stuff by Drake, surprised because I think it was the smart move to make & pleased because I also think it was the right thing to do & showed respect for Drake. Now, I really am ready to do this thing. What I read said early 2025. We need to say goodbye. Watching these Johnless scenes with Marlena is excruciating.

@AbcNbc247 I am eager to see today's episode to understand why the Greene kids are back in Salem so soon.  Are we never going to see the Mother again?

And, (my eternal question), does this mean that Katherina was living in Salem for a while and never got in touch with John or his family to thank them?  I mean Doug III's mobster found him in a week, why didn't John and Katherina ever run into each other at the market?

Looks like the eternal questions gonna have to go on for a little longer. No answer today

Cat said she came back to look after Felicity. Aaron is still in Canada with their mother.

Did Cat say that Aaron had enough credits to graduate early, or was she referencing Mark?

Because (a) what med school would allow Mark to earn a degree if he committed fraud while on residency? and (b) are they keeping Aaron away for storyline purposes?

I am glad that Doc is hiring an assistant.  Between Leo and Alex, her clients tend to just barge in when they need to see her rather than making an appointment.

Julie is great with both Chad AND Doug III.  I appreciate that she is a much more modern figure than Alice ever was.  And much of her wisdom is based upon her own mistakes.  However, I think it is a missed opportunity for her not to mention how she coped with the loss of Scott and David. Because she is truly alone in the world, especially given how she was raised with such an extensive family.

I don't know if I'd say Julie is alone in the world. Yeah, her husband and son have passed, but she has Eli and Lani and their kids, Hope, Shawn, Ciara, their children, Jennifer and her family, Maggie, Marie, Steven... she's a widow, but she isn't alone just because she's one of the last surviving members of her particular generation.

Fair! I'm only defensive because I feel like Julie's emotions are about the only thing that does make sense lately.

I do wish they'd connect her easy acceptance of NuDoug to how readily she took in Eli upon learning of David's death.

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
