You have to tell your DVR to record "all" episodes of the show, otherwise it records only new ones.  But even that doesn't work sometimes.  Best thing is, if you happen to hear ahead of time that an older episode will air, then tell your DVR to manually record that date/time/channel.

That being said, Y&R didn't air in the Pacific Time zone January 1st on CBS at its regular time, due to live CBS news reports on the press conference about the violent driver murdering multiple victims in New Orleans.  I don't think Y&R aired at all, unless they put it on later in the day?
Maybe some channels could air it overnight? But I don't know if they'd bother with a rerun.

I'm going to state something controversial... but the work of Kay Alden, Lynn Marie Latham & John F. Smith was not bad. Yes, Latham was in there, but I do think she infused something different that was needed at the time. And while I don't usually love executive producers to have head writer credit, Smith did quite well with the production of the episode, as well. Visually, we're getting back to what we see in the clips above, but we're still a long way off. Amazing what you can do when the dialogue is there.

And, it's also alarming just how emotionally damaged each writing regime has made Sharon... whew. That Sharon is a complete 180 to the Sharon of today, and that sucks.

Such a shame...for years Sharon was my favorite character and now I roll my eyes whenever she's on screen. I adore Sharon Case and I'm glad she's still employed, but I think the character should've been rested years.

The previous regimes not only eroded her character to the point she's damn near unrecognizable. But they burned through so much story over the past decade and a half it's not clear what direction you can take her in.

Sharon Case should have a cabinet of Daytime Emmy's for all the heavy lifting she's done. She truly was the MVP of 2000's Y&R.

TEB and SW both looked amazing in the NYE episodes. Why do I have a feeling we're going to see that foursome swap?

Loved the camera sweep as the foursome was leaving going right to Daniel, Danny + Cricket.

CG can still deliver when given a chance. It was a good choice to have her in Society looking cautiously looking out at Nick/Ian. It allowed us to see how terrified Mariah is of Ian without her being hysterical.

I gotta agree, Susan and Tracey were styled perfectly for NYE.

Also I’m too young to know Danny/Christine from their heyday but I genuinely enjoy them both and their pop ins. You can truly feel Danny’s love for Daniel. MD and MG have always had perfect father and son chemistry since I started watching about 20 years ago.

Ian getting caught by Mariah, Faith, and Nick was also great. I guess I can’t be mad at them for not noticing Sharon was gone due to the Ian distractions. These are the smartest geriatrics.

I haven’t been this interested in Y&R in a long time.

Coming into January and...

That NYE episode was good. And YES, that ending was flawless with Ian and Mariah finally coming face to face.

I loved how everyone was dressed. Except for Nick. My favorite was Victor and Nikki. Victor just looked so cute in that sweater. And Nikki...as I've been saying...has been a clotheshorse. And they puffed up her hair which was perfect for that outfit. I think second best was Faith's for me. It was different and daring.

I also loved the camera angle of Phyllis coming in with each of her kids on the side in the background to Chris turning and seeing her. It made me think of Sarah, Ryder, Daisy at the masquerade party. Speaking of that giggly heffa, oh how I loved Danny showing up to wipe that smug look off her face after she was coming for Christine. But it was cute to see everyone in Neil's lounge just like last year. But wow...it's been around for at least a year.

I continue to love how Sharon has been coming across as an old school heroine. Right down to her being knocked out by Jordan. lol.

And it's slight, but I liked how they explained where everyone who should have been around was not there and why. The little things.

Now THIS is Sharon. I hate that the writers have given her so much [!@#$%^&*] baggage now, she can barely ever be like this without someone throwing some crazy [!@#$%^&*] she did in her face. We got a glimpse of this Sharon on Christmas Eve though.

    • I feel like Vernon and Anita need to not be hypocrites and try and take the heat off Bill in this case. It's clear that the family used him as a fixer and especially knowing he helped with Martin's situation, they need to either be quiet or support him. BTW...with Vanessa being in the hospital for food poisoning, am I the only one who thought Shanice was gonna say she's pregnant or had an STD? The only reason I say STD is because she hasn't had any memorable sex partners, but I definitely don't believe she just had food poisoning.
    • Yeah, I mean I know that the name still pertains. I just laugh at it not now being called Arizona Dust, but, I admit it simply does not have the same ring to it. Above, that is interesting that Arizona had already come up before the crisis.
    • Leslie and her family are from Chicago? Anita's background also includes being a former Chi-Town native? Might they connect this and go somewhere with it?
    • Honestly who's to say Leslie even birthed Eva, I mean she's a liar, I wouldn't believe a word she says about Eva being Ted's(or hers)
    •   1. 11/1/83 cast/set list:

Please register in order to view this content

The "11/2/83" video you posted of Ruth Buzzi's scenes includes Roman and Hope in them, meaning the video you posted is actually 11/1/83, since Roman and Hope aren't in 11/2/83.   2. The video you posted of "11/2/83" has scenes with Roman and Hope. As you can see from my cast/set list, Roman and Hope are not in the 11/2/83 episode (see above note):   4573...11/2/83: Cast: Mickey, Julie, Doug, Maggie, Neil, Don, Marie, Alex, Liz, Andre as Tony, Gwen, Chris, Eugene, Sandy, Letitia, Charlene, Mrs. Whiting, Wanda/Guard, Dave, Delia, Saleslady # 1, Saleslady # 2, Figure in Dark, Raven/animal, Cats/animals, Birds/animals.   2.  11/3/83 :My video collection starts with 11/4/83. so I don't have the 11/1/83 or 11/3/83 video, but in addition to the cast/set list for 11/3/83, here is also the parking clearance call sheet for that day, showing Ruth was not only in the cast/set list but did work that day:     They even had hired the animal trainer and all the animals for the day, so It's sort of a certainty that her scenes were not cut that day, or it would have been a big waste of the budget. 3. As for 11/7/83, I just fast-forwarded through that whole episode myself. Letitia is in it from start to finish. It's her big final episode where she is killed. She starts the episode saying "Eugene, are you there?" In the next act, Marlena shows up and meets Letitia's lion. Later in the episode, Letitia is killed by "Eugene" (the Salem Slasher in a Eugene mask).   So, as we can see from your own post, the 11/2/83 date you have listed on that video is incorrect, since Hope and Roman are in that video but not in the 11/2/83 episode. It seems the dates you have on all your early November 1983 episodes are incorrect.   When you post videos and suggest that my data is incorrect, do you not first compare who is in the scenes and see if that matches who is in the episode? You didn't do that with the "11/2/83" episode, which based on Roman and Hope being in it means that is actually 11/1/83. Best to do something like that first before suggesting my data and research is incorrect.
    • Within the Dupree family, I predict Vernon/Anita will be conflicted about what to do about Bill and his role in the whole Ted/Silk Press Sheila situation... especially since Bill knows where the particular bone about Martin is buried. Dani, Chelsea, and Naomi's reactions to what Bill possibly did isn't hard to guess.. but Hayley's reactions will be interesting to hear.  Especially given her recent pregnancy scare.. she might not be so much on Bill's side, or she'll totally surprise us and be totally on Bill's side.   Either way, I think Martin's secret will be the main focus in May sweeps.. with the fall out of the Eva secret playing out in the background... while the Joey/Vanessa/Doug thing continues to boil/develop.
    • Hotel was The Love Boat on land but a little soapier. I will forever maintain that Hotel was a time slot hit. I don't believe that 1983/84 Hotel was a better show than Knots Landing.
