See, to me Avery was also a thankless part with a low life expectancy. Only Jessica Collins put that over for so long - she was what people cared about, Avery herself was not very popular. I also don't think LW is suited to playing a character that was often the calmer alternative to more brash characters.

(I do think a soap today probably could use Jessica Collins again, but she couldn't use them.)

Vee that is fantastic news! I've been hoping for positive things for you!

Yeah, pretty sure Park is happy with his once-in-a-lifetime daytime role in Jack Snyder.

EXACTLY! The writing was not there; Diane visited earlier in the year, and it was clear that's all it was meant to be. But then, suddenly, Diane is back by the year's end?! I don't think there was ever an intent for Diane's late 2010 return, regardless if it had been West, Susan Walters and/or someone else in the role.

I feel like Wright would have been hired to just play Casey (who I do have some recast ideas of), and Phelps would call it a day.

I also don't visually see Wright at Y&R.. the acting style isn't there, unless Jessica Collins was fired and they brought her in as Avery (in an attempt to pair Wright with Steve Burton's Dylan).

I agree. But I feel like she's doing well in primetime/streaming roles. But it is weird, to me, that Avery came and gone so quickly. Another Arena creation that was removed (and kind of rightfully so).

Michael Park stayed working and has definitely carved out a successful career for himself post-daytime. Unless he’s hired be the lead patriarch of a completely new daytime soap (ala Tamara Tunie), it’s best he stay away from daytime and keep the momentum his acting career has in other vehicles.

Just saw his name pop up in the credits of last night's Elsbeth. His character is not part of the murder of the week which features Alan Ruck but an ongoing thread regarding a past divorce case Elsbeth worked on. No idea if there is any reason why Park's character should be around very much though.

I think he came up in the context of Maura West playing an unpopular character and I wasn't paying enough attention and replied here instead of posting in a more appropriate thread.

Did Robert Kelker-Kelly ever work as Stavros on GH? I thought he was kind of panned in that role even though he was quite popular after being on AW (as Sam) and DAYS

I'm curious how Kimberlin Brown was perceived on Port Charles as Rachel. I never watched her, but I think Sheila has been the only role she has stood out in. I know she had short appearances on AW and OLTL

I concur that Sharon Gabet on AW was a complete waste for her. The changeover in writers did her no favors from being a mute amnesiac to regaining her memory as Catlin's no longer dead wife to being an abused spouse of Peter's. Such a wasted opportunity to have an actress of her talent on the show (which AW desperately needed to give it a spark). Of course, AW was lucky enough to get Sharon, Larry Lau, and Denise Alexander from ABC around the same time and squandered all of them with poor writing.

Yes, Stavros Cassadine on GH was the last role he played but I thought it was a successful recast. I would call both Bobby Reno & Shane Roberts were both unpopular characters for RKK. Be interesting to hear other thoughts about these roles.

Kimberlin was interesting as Rachel at first.  She started out as a more sane version of Sheila Carter with a score/vendetta...while trying to manipulate her patient Julie Devlin.

At first, fans were receptive...but the writers dropped the ball and she was quickly written out.  She lasted about a year and a half.

I remember some were complaining about how cartoonish he and his story were, but I was like, "C'mon, the man's literally been locked inside of a freezer for almost 20 years!  What were you expecting?  'The Cherry Orchard'?"  And I wasn't even a fan; but, for once, the level of his performance matched the ridiculousness of the story perfectly.

No.

I do think Kimberlin was excellent on PC. And the role's deep, deep lore in Kevin's background (which I think was shepherded by writers from '90s GH) was fascinating. I think she could've run longer than she did, sadly. I'd bring Rachel Locke back on GH today to raise some hell if I could.

In fairness to him, IIRC they did have him dancing naked or shirtless to Right Said Fred's "Too Sexy" in the cryogenic lab several weeks in.

    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton practically twirling his moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

    • Thanks for asking that!  Back when we had another major event upcoming (a party or the concert), I had intended to ask what everyone here was planning to wear.

    • Lol. Right?  I mean the show could have framed the 60th anniversary in a different way, but the narrative was celebrating Tom and the hospital. Also, what a weirdly sexist bunch of posts about women's nail polish.  Like, yes, this is Days problem lol.  Stacy Haiduk isn't a good Kristen because she doesn't wear nail polish?  Are we in the 1950's???
