OMG! I knew it was coming, but I did keep myself unspoil on how the new ranch set would look.

Like MTS, I'm teary-eyed.

And since I saw your note @soapfan770...Aha!! It's a good feeling to be right. re: Diane.

Getting ready for work so will be back with more later on.

Loved the flashbacks today, some of which I don't think were shown before.

I didn't know it was a full episode about the Ranch. I was floored by the flashbacks - almost all were new to me. Great choices spanning all of MTS's hairstyles! Including the fighting scenes really was a great choice because they showed the intensity and complexity of the relationship.

From the introduction of the Abbotts until about 15 years or so, Y&R always felt rich, glamorous and sophisticated. Watching Friday's episode brought that back for me. I never realized how much the absence of that set hurt the Newman family *home* scenes. Thank goodness the Abbott living room and the iconic front door weren't ever sacrificed!

As a newer viewer of only the past 13 years, seeing those old flashbacks of Nikki and Victor gave me some kind of creeps. She was SO young, and there was the German casanova taking her in ala My Fair Lady. Sort of glad I didn't watch back then. Oof.

Also funny how so many missed the line of Nikki saying she thought all of the construction trucks were there to work on some sort of erosion of the creek. Good lines, but a lot of folks missed it and are left wondering how she would have been unaware of an entire home being built on the property, still in view of the horses, etc.

I know Nikki can be self involved but not noticing an  entire house being erected and furnished over many  months?  Maybe the ranch is so huge it was out of sight...

In 1981 EB was 40 and MTS was 25 and the age difference was apparent.

Victor/Nikki initial storyline played a big part in Victor's character arc from short-term villain to anti-hero/romantic leading man.

Yes it was a take on My Fair Lady but Bill Bell and the audience saw the connection between EB and MTS and that made the storyline work.

Old school story tropes (with excellent acting) will get audiences every time. And we know EB and MTS has that IT factor in spades.

I think I was on the verge of vomiting when Josh Griffith came to speak. I get the feeling he wrote this speech 5 minutes before his name was called - probably similar to how he writes his boring and incoherent “stories” actually.

That 70S Show Lol GIF by Peacock

Seriously, in his time there, has Josh Griffith written one captivating romance/love story?

One intriguing mystery? One compelling social issue story? One fascinating business story?

Could anyone honestly  answer yes to any of those?

Just watched the Nov 4 episode. The show looks richer and more elegant than it has in years. No blinding JFP-style “let’s see everything we paid for” lighting. The dull Kyle/Claire “love scene” at least didn’t have the awful shadows I saw in a recent Audra/Nate bangdown.

Billy and Sally have zero chemistry, but how could they with that dumb dialogue? Amanda Beall had her fingerprints all over that stupidity.

Hopefully, the writing fix will follow some of the production improvements.

Actually yes. And have for SOME of these. lol.

Business Story...regardless of him being tired of it, the original IPO takedown story that brought Tucker back into town and the introduction of Audra was fascinating to watch. Those were good plot points, but for me, the draw was how it gave the Winters a story of their own that gave the family fraction. For one, no matter how much Devon and Nate said otherwise...the drama (Nate saying Devon doesn't listen to his ideas, Devon saying Nate is too new to be making bold moves) was the subtext...Devon was still mad at Nate over Elena, Nate was still mad at Devon for the loss of his hands/medical career. And through everything that happened, both actors kept playing that subtext which gave their conflict layers. Then Devon vs Lily followed ,and you had the spectre of Neil all over their drama since we the audience watched them grow up together with very little drama between them, so it was hard (but resonating) to watch. The only false note in the whole thing was Nate's reveal really...over the love for Elena...only for her to drop her...what a month later to have an affair with Victoria. The fact Nate and Devon haven't really gotten back in sync until the year because both actors still play that subtext post-IPO until they FINALLY said all that on screen a few years back gave them legs for some time there. Heck, Lily and Devon still have occasional friction.

Love story...Daniel and Lily finding their way back to each other. The actors haven't been paired since they were kids and back when the show was great so that was an good pairing for JG to go back to. And it was done gradually. I did hate how it ended mind you, but the start of it...and the re-intro of Heather for a potential triangle...was done well...until JG of course dropped the ball when CK went on her maternity leave.

That was great from start to finish. So not only did I get a Diane vs Nikki catfight, but they both looked FIERCE giving it to each other? YES, PLEASE. lol. The dialogue was crisp...cuz nobody says NIKKI with such spite like Diane does. The acting was giving...cuz SW was in her AD Diane bag. And then she did that again in her scenes with Victor, too. But then the reveal...ooooo I WAS RIGHT!!! I suspected it for a while. But I really suspected it when Diane stormed after Nikki and caused a scene noticeably in front of Victor and Kyle. So...Diane has been plotting. But with who?

Meanwhile...I loved the Summer/Chance scenes. Those were some meaty scenes for him. And I know I say it often, but god, Connor Floyd is a hot man. And those eyes...just swoon. I do wonder if this friction between them...plus how much disdain Summer has for Kyle/Claire...is leading into that long ignored possibility of a Kyle/Summer/Chance triangle.

Victor be Victor-ing. lol. Who did Kyle think he was talking to? BOY, BYE. And good to see that Nikki finally knows he's the silent partner. And of course, that ending...like I said the other day...OMG. I got completely in my feels.
