If they are suggesting a Black love interest is a downgrade just on its face, that’s… not a good look. However, the reality is that Black/Black couples are isolated and treated as D-list at best on GH. Sprina gave Trina a spotlight that’s incredibly rare for Black characters in the same way Molly elevates T.J. in ways that wouldn’t be expected if his love interest were Black or Hispanic.

If Kai turns out to be the long-lost son of Gia and Nikolas (Spencer’s brother!) or Jason and Keesha or even something crazy like Justus and Faith, it might be different. The actor appears to be biracial.

Yes I am going here: What is with some Sprina fans? First NAC thinks GH is below him cause he unfollowed folks on socials. His current jobs could have mandated who he follow & what he posts. Now this new actor playing Kai for Trina is just stunt casting. I cannot with this.

Yeah, they are intense in ways that remind me of fan bases of yore. Their criticisms have a lot of truth (GH has had little use for Tabyana since NAC left, and she went months without a single scene with her on-screen mother). But it also suggests that they themselves want to keep Trina in a Sprina-sized box.

OR maybe they’re simply realistic: Spencer is the only way Trina gets A-story on GH, and her lack of story since his “death” confirms that.

Maybe I’m missing something, but how is this stunt casting? This guy isn’t a name nor does he bring the show any major publicity. Or maybe you’re suggesting he’s only been cast to make it seem like Trina will actually have a story?

They really do; even when was on as Rory, they blasted him from day one before Spencer & Trina even really began to date, because their pairing wasn't allowed to be "touched" or "tainted". It's bullshït to me. Time to move on; it's obvious they're not recasting Spencer, and are deviating from the Cassadine family (finally) in focus of the Spencers, and others. So, welcome aboard!

I think they are recasting Spencer as soon as Trina is gone.

I share many of their complaints - the show doesn't care about Trina, I doubt they ever really did, and it's certainly valid for some fans to assume they are only pairing her with a black actor because that way they can have them on the backburner until Trina is quietly written out.

With that said, it makes more sense than pairing her with Gio, and a lot of her fans seemed to hate that idea too. And it's never a bad thing to have more black cast members on the show.

Absolutely. the more diversity in the cast, the better, especially when they are talented like Tabyana.  Donnell Turner, who can appear with the likes of Alley Mills to Genie Francis and just works... I can't say that about Michael Kruse, who played Rory.  I just didn't see that from him. As for Gio, we still have no idea who he is, outside of Scooter the muppet, always nice and smiley.

I agree that it's buzz giving GH and Y&R a wake up call. (Can't say that about B&B. Carter is heading to the front burner, but Zende is an afterthought and Paris is <coughs>.....)

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
