It's just a desperate attempt to keep another past their sell by date FV/CVE, etc. era character on perpetually. I couldn't care less. Adding a bloodline or pulling a recast on a pointless hire or tired character does nothing.

The larger Holly situation doesn't bother me. She's been pretty regularly guesting for the better part of 15 years off and on and they never have done anything as ruinous with her as the original monkey virus story, people seem to enjoy her stints. Holly is not a favorite of mine but it gives Emma Samms work in a difficult time.

If anything, I would've made Sasha a long lost daughter of Lucy. I feel like they look similar and they already have a mother/daughter relationship. Hell, I'd even be okay with writing Sasha off and bringing her back as Christina. Lucy was one of my favorites on Port Charles, but she is such a joke on modern day GH.

Connecting Holly to Sasha is...a choice. I don't have an opinion either way. It just seems so random. It amazes me that Emma Samms is so talented, but they've never seemed to recreate her glory days of the 80s. Even her return in the early 90s was a waste of how talented she is. I'm always happy to see her, so I'm just going to take this as it comes and enjoy her while she's around.

I'll say this for Sasha: at least she's not Willow. And I do kind of like her C-story romance with Cody. But it does boggle the mind that GH has somehow kept both Sasha AND Willow on the air for 6 years, often in frontburner stories, when they're functionally the same character.

Well yeah diamonds!  Wouldn't Holly have learned that her daughter Sasha was involved with Cody and some diamonds storyline?
If Holly had zero maternal care in her heart, she would at least have come back to use her daughter Sasha for getting the diamonds.  That would have been something in character for conwoman Holly to do. But it didn't happen.
Instead it was Sasha's mother-in-law Gladys using Sasha for profit?

1) Holly didn't reach out with maternal care during all the years that everything horrible was happening to Sasha.
2) Conwoman Holly didn't use her daughter Sasha for profit in the Cody diamond storyline.
Holly didn't do either of those two things (that we know of).  So how could she be Sasha's biological mother?

This is just me randomly wildly guessing:
What if Holly isn't actually Sasha's biological mother, but Sasha greeted her at the door as "Mother" because ...
What if, back in the past before Sasha first came to Port Charles, what if Holly and Sasha had done cons together, with Holly pretending to be Sasha's mother? ? ? That would explain Sasha calling her "Mother" at the door yesterday, as a reference to their con team past?

I think the actress who plays Willow is a male version of the actor who played Nathan; pretty to look at, but not much going on. They are models, not actors.

Willow might have had more success if the writers had made her a mean, petty, shallow person. But for some reason they write her as a "heroine," which just translates into boring because of her lack of charisma.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
