The "film noir"-esque episode where Heather dies and Sharon dumps her body off a bridge was pretty good - from the directing, the acting, the lighting, and background music. The extreme long shot of the bridge was cool. This should be Sharon Case's Emmy episode.  She was phenomenal in this episode and in the flashback episode.  I'm curious to see how Heather really died.

@Taoboi Re: Sharon's meds + your theory. We saw Sharon taking her meds in the hotel room + Cameron said something like that won't change anything. Combined with other clues dropped, it's definitely not bi-polar.

SC proves yet again that her talent is underappreciated. IMO, there's no way Sharon would still be around if it weren't for SC's ability to ground and humanize Sharon even under the most bizarre situation. The Cameron scenes could be complete camp - not the good kind - but SC and LA made them work. 

Even after she *killed* Heather, the clean up, talking to Cameron, dumping on the bridge, etc. SC somehow kept Sharon from turning into a monster or a complete caricature. I hope SC's work is properly recognized by the Emmy's this year.

I’m not surprised Owen Renfroe and Sally McDonald directed these two episodes. They’re usually the ones who can almost make Griffith’s material slightly passable and usually direct the major episodes. Case is a pro as a usual.

I agree. Hate as I do on this storyline, it was all well done. And the fact it was so good that I didn't realize that it was Heather vs Sharon for 15 minutes without any other plot or characters is a testament to how good everything (direction, the acting, lighting, music) truly was.

Yeah, it's definitely a subtle turn, but a turn all the same. 

 

I definitely have been loving seeing SC being more engaged. She's been a bit hit and miss (for her) since it started, but she's being great as Sharon has unraveled before the audience's eyes. So underappreciated. I agree with every word you said.

I might ramble a bit, but bear with me. I really loved the Sharon episode. 

 

Outside of Ashley, Jill, Dru, original Mac, and HT's Victoria, I would say she's my favorite. Perhaps it's a case of her being introduced when I was young same as Elizabeth on GH, but they really don't do young soap ingénues/heroines like her anymore. She has withstood the test of time like a true heroine, too. She's done everything. She's seen everything. And yet, there's so much more to be done with her. Like say...seeing who Sharon's father is for example. And her connections for someone who did not have family in Genoa City when she appeared runs deep. 

 

And that Sharon has been around for 30 years is a story testament to how awesome SC is as an actress. Always spellbinding. Always resonating. And always able to be a little fierce like her standing up to Nikki in this very episode. Her head tilt. Her inflection in her words. The look she gave Nikki (who I loved having that pixie cut) when she said she is tired of her walking all over her. One of SC's best.

 

This was flashback galore, and I loved it. Standouts for me was seeing Sharon's mother...and I've never seen that scene...no wonder they had such a complicated relationship. The Sharon vs Nikki scenes. Her, Nick, and telling Cassie they were adopting her. That little parent scene with Cassie. Her and Nick and the beginnings of Crimson Light. I take it some of those scenes of her and Nick were from when he had amnesia. Oh and her with the original Mariah storyline. 

 

And the end where common sense Sharon came back. SC made it look so effortless. 

 

I really wished JG knew the gem he has in Sharon and SC and honestly worked with her and not against her.

Another missing parent/grandparent  eg Joanna, Mary. Is Phyllis' mother still alive?
