There have been rumors. (When are there NOT rumors on TwiX?!!!) First, awhile back it was noted that Kate Mansi never mentioned Jackie in her IG account. Now, the whispered voices suggest that Kate did not like Jackie & did not want to play with her. Mostly I ignore this & that's what I am going back to doing ... now.

I don’t think Mulcahey was getting rid of Ava, at least not yet. He built in an out with Valentin having been the real person meddling with his meds. If anything, I saw Ava as being moved into the kind of spot characters like Roger were in on GL during his time there. Many times his schemes blew up and he just kept on ticking, always smart about covering his tracks. I think Ava was going to use the meds to be a hero and buy herself some credit while she plotted against everyone. But that was when Mulcahey was there and stories had structure.

At this point it would not shock me if Finn finishes his three months in rehab and is back on the show before the year is out.

Lord give me strength. Because the whiplash.

These New/Old Writers really hated on what PM wrote, didn't they? Because the logical holes as I was watching this episode had me shaking my head and glaring at the screen. Because some of the things coming out of characters' mouths or how some of the characters acted is just....NO.

Since it was the first scene...I'm just start with Wagger and Anna. Cuz I know Anna who not only just helped Valentin escape but was just declaring war on Sonny THREE MONTHS AGO is not here talking to Wagger about not going after Sonny and not to get involved with Ava. You mean the Anna who was slowly building a case against Sonny before getting sidetracked by the Pikeman story...that Anna? Even FH with her lovely tough Anna vibe she had in her scenes with Wagger couldn't sell that dialogue. And if the audience feels it is out of character for said character, yes, the writer has failed. I just can't believe we are back to the Worshipping of Sonny.

So now that we are back to Heather...Chris's actual A storyline....LOrrrrd. So not only is Laura appearing to be booted out of the story that was originally hers...not only is Scotty around Heather bring back that slapsticky tone of the old regime le sigh (Note...I did like AM as Heather was more subdued than normal)...but this whole storyline is making Portia out to be not only in the wrong, but as a typical Angry Mad Black Woman trope. Even I went oh heeellll no watching her scene. From Felicia whom Portia rightfully dragged to Liz to even her own DAUGHTER. Propping alert is back, and I'm not liking it. And not even that good scene between Trina and Heather which was the oddity out of the slanted writing could save it.

And oooooh how Jason slid so easy...TOO easy...back into Sonny's Enforcer mode with Ava. I do like that SB appears to be fighting against what's written, keeping the throughline that PM established for him on his return. But it just feels like the last 3 months never happened and frankly I'm disgusted.

Well, at least there is still some Alexis.

I just can't fathom how this show has so quickly gone from must see and insightful to a chore in a matter of days.

No.  I don't even like Ava.  Her writing is erratic at best.  She is being dumped on in this story when she really didn't do anything wrong except hide the Sonny meds situation.

Carly gets universal praise for barely acting like a human and Ava gets hatred from the entire town.  Neither should be lauded for their excellence and caring, but the town acts like Carly is their queen.

The thing I keep coming back to is that supposedly it was Korte who wanted PM in the first place.

I'm just clinging to "Copy that." It's new & different. It is not old Jason to old Sonny.

Also to Steve & Bradford talking about scenes in their podcasts.

Seems like days maybe but I'm pretty sure it's been going on for weeks. I suspect that CVE/Korte have been unwriting & rewriting with fair abandon, ya know?

Indeed.

I felt that PM knew what he had in MW and understood the need for a villain on the show. And not just a normal run-of-the-mill villain, a complex one. And Ava was that. Just look at the scene that was next day after she gave that guy the video of Natalia. She was happy that she was making chaos for Natalia as payback for snatching Ava's chance with Sonny, but PM gave her that scene where she saw the backlash against Blaze in the little corner of her tablet. And Ava froze. You saw emotions. Then there was a knock on her door and Ava went back to Ava-ing. MW played that scene soooo well.

I loved all of the maneuvering she was doing during his run. And I felt he did, too, as she was so connected to so many stories. I was thinking a murder mystery for her, or some form of redemption so she pays a little bit for her crimes, but I didn't feel PM was permanently writing Ava out.

You have a femme fatale played by a powerhouse...you use it.

Very.

I still would like to know who got PM back in the first place. Cuz FV sure is making everyone that was for it pay for it now.

Lol. So true. I do love that she can come back at ANY moment in fit in flawlessly.

So much this. YES.

Roger was a complex villain.

    • She, the star of the show that she is, was fantastic in the episode, and the scene does include her, but it's more on the embarrassing side of things, much more. It's certainly a fresh idea, I can say that.
    • I know French Fan had released monthly summaries for all the soaps from 1975/1976/1978 that helped to put focus on who wrote what.   It's somewhere in the message boards (not sure if in archives or not). From what I recall, Labine did start the Ben/Betsy/Arlene triangle, the Jamie/Diana story, the Felicia story, and Rick/Cal/Meg stories.    When Depriest came on, she kept the ball rolling with all of those tales by having Arlene's mom starting to work for Meg as there was blackmail from Arlene to Ben, Felicia's story became more psychological where she was being stalked.. but you couldn't tell if she was truly being stalked or if it was in her head, and I think Arlene also had an admirer that ended up dying in a struggle.  The months she was writing sounded interesting and full of tension. Once the Schneiders came on... it seemed as though what had been started by Labine and built on by Depriest was reversed by this team.  I wonder if Upton had to sort of rebuild because of what the Schneiders had done during their time working on the show.
    • I really didn't start watching the show until season 12 when I was a teen, so I only caught the last three years. I LOVED the show over all though...even that part of 13 that was a bit messy! So, it's been a treat streaming the previous seasons on Plex. I'm amazed at how well so much of the writing holds up over 30 years later. Far better than a lot that we get today! For the most part, stories move along at nice pace with good twists and turns! I just finished season 11, so I'm finally picking up where I started watching all those years before. When I started watching as a teen, Laura had already died, so while she was mentioned pretty often, I didn't have much background with the character. CM was an amazing actress and had chemistry with everyone. So, it's a bit of a headscratcher that they didn't seem to have any idea of what to do with her starting at around season 7. Her scenes at that point are mostly short, brief, and she has very little true story right until the episodes where she's dying in 9. I wonder what it was about the character that the writers couldn't figure out what to do with her. Also, Ben's exit storyline was a bit confusing for me. I never really got who this woman was who was stalking him and this "secret organization." The whole plot seems like it should be on a different show. Michelle Phillips and Nicolette Sheridan have really fun mom/daughter/frenemies chemistry. I remember having a huge crush on PP's Michael and being disappointed when he was written out at the end of season 12.
    • mayoclinic: Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can: Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration. Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment. Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements. Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are. Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate. Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people. Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important. Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them. Take advantage of others to get what they want. Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others. Be envious of others and believe others envy them. Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited. Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office. At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can: Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment. Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted. React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior. Have difficulty managing their emotions and behavior. Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change. Withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail. Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection. Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, humiliation and fear of being exposed as a failure. --- Or maybe Leslie simply has Soap Villain Syndrome.
    • Ambryn Michelle and Trisha Mann-Grant are easily the most charismatic actresses to grace daytime in a longggggggg time. This show wouldn’t be as good without them, IMO.
    • whatever she has is far worse. Narcissism is just a symptom for deeper issues.

    • What is it? I already know Ambyr was electrifying.
    • The show isn't great right now, but I do hope it can stay on, unlikely as that may be. I guess at least it's better than this time last year. I will say it doesn't really feel like Shortland Street anymore.
    • You guys are going to die when you watch the first scene of today's episode.
