Re: Emily O’Brien

If you think about it, she did sort of get a raw deal from like 2022 on. And I think we know whose fault that was.

Lol probably, but I wouldn’t mind it. Can’t blame VK for not coming back full time either

It makes me mad because the show took something cool-ie DH having a twin and made it a joke.  It's not even Ron's fault, but there are enough Marlena clones in the world to satisfy Don, Roman, John, and Stefano at this point.

It's a shame because I think EOB did her very best.  She just had everything stacked against her.

If Chanel took the morning off at Sweet Bits, where did Connie buy the donuts?

I know I'm writing a story that's not actually being played on screen, but I still think there's potential in the Connie plot.  In a town filled with doppelgängers, and easy access to latex masks, where everyone is stunningly beautiful, the idea that an ordinary looking woman could get away with murder is intriguing.  Unfortunately, the character is absurd and everyone around her looks like a fool for allowing her to go unnoticed.

While I agree that Emily O'Brien never phoned it in and always did her best, she NEVER felt like Theresa to me. Not once.

The wig didn't help, but that wasn't the reason she failed. For one thing, bringing Theresa on THE SAME DAY Gwen left was a huge mistake. That didn't work. Would it have helped to wait 6 months? I doubt it, but we'll never know.

The truth is EOB never captured Theresa's essence, she never felt like her.

I thought the initial Gwen story was pretty good. That was around the time that Ron and the writing had a nice resurgence. Having Laura be involved in it was a big mistake that totally killed the storyline though.

But what Ron and his biggest cheerleader did to EOB during the Dimitri storyline was one of the grossest, most disgusting things I’ve ever seen in my life. She was literally treated like [!@#$%^&*] just because those two clowns were too biased and obsessed to tell a good story. And the Theresa thing was just a mistake, probably brought on by that disgusting Dimitri storyline, even though EOB did grow on me a little as Theresa.

It seriously is a wonder how she hasn’t walked. I understand that a paycheck is a paycheck, but the treatment is just… goddamn lol

    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol

    • I love this more than any theory I've seen yet
    • I wonder what Dana and Hayley's first scene will be like. Dana has fear/contempt for Bill, but I can imagine Hayley being curious to meet her.
    • Daphne was just FANTASTIC today. I know people wanted histronics and it may still come but she was pitch perfect today. As much as I like Maurice she's gonna need someone just as strong now and it's just not him
    • Today's episode was one of my favorites so far! TT's Anita standing up to Dana was perfect. I was surprised with how restrained Dani was, in some scenes, I forgot she was there. The ending "Amazing Grace" montage was brilliant. I like how Vernon's reason complements Anita's emotion. DD was terrific portraying her mixed sense of betrayal and humiliation. I liked her comment about how she condescended to Dani after her breakup with Bill, unaware that she was also married to a cheater. I am going to miss MJ as Ted and I don't agree with the criticisms of his acting. His conduct on social media is a different story. I agree that BC's Martin has come into his own. He and MM have also discovered some chemistry which allows them portray a believable couple. Eva is the most empathetic character for me. Seeing get locked out of the apartment was heartbreaking. I also liked that the writing for Kat has been much more nuanced than one might have expected just weeks ago. I liked the expression on Kat's face at the end when she was embracing Nicole. Kat has probably never seen her calm, poised mother so upset. CM's face portrayed a sense of discomfort now that the carer/child roles have been somewhat reversed. I believe now more than ever that Kat is Ted and Dana's child. Eva is Ted and Nicole's child. Dana switched them as insurance - if Bill came after her to take or harm Eva, Dana would reveal that Eva was actually a Dupree, giving her some protection. She would also be secure in the fact that her birth daughter Kat was ensconced in the privilege and security of the Dupree family. The way Dana raised Eva - "weaponizing" her instead of nurturing her as a loving mother - also aligns with this theory.
